Hello everyone!I'm Amanda J. Greene, self-published historical and erotic paranormal romance author. When I am not writing, you can find me playing the role of a full time university student (soon to start my Masters program), who works part time. I live in Southern California with my very supportive husband and our sweet cocker spaniel. Doing all the above and being a military wife is not easy, but rewarding! Of course I accomplish everything with a strong cup of coffee in my hand.
Feel free to pop on over to my site, www.amandajgreene.com, if you would like more information about me or my books.
Thank you!
Hello everyone i'm Jayne i live in UK i have 4 children aged 16,15,13 & 9. I am totally obsessed with reading & at the moment i'm reading Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson Guardian series & i am loving it so much.
My name is Chas, and I enjoy many PNR and UF authors. I read them with my wife. I spend more time browsing forums and blogs, so I am generally the one who discovers new authors and ensures that we stay up to date on our favorite series. My own favorites are Kelley Armstrong and Karen Marie Moning.
Hi my name is Tina and I live in Cypress, Texas. I love PNR. Some of my favorite authors are Cynthia Eden, Shelly Laurenston, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Nalini Singh, Gena Showalter, J.R. Ward, Larissa Ione, Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward, Alexandra Ivy, and Alexis Morgan.... just to name a few. I love shifters and demons. I am not a big fan of first person narrative stories.
Hi! I'm Erin, when not running around after my 2 year old or fighting fire, I am usually reading as many books as possible! I love most genres, but my current obsession is PNR, UF, etc... My current fave authors are: Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, LKH, Meljean Brooks, Patricia Briggs, Kresley Cole, Jennifer Estep, and Chloe Neill just to name a few! I am pretty new to Goodreads, but have been on Shelfari for awhile. Looking forward to discovering new authors and having some great discussions!
Hi folks (and Jess, thanks for letting me join the group) --I bet I could be the group Grandma! I've been reading science fiction since I was 15, which is some decades past. Those were the days before it was a respected genre; I used to put my contraband sci-fi magazines inside schoolbooks so no one would see me reading them.
I read Lord of the Rings as it was coming out, volume by volume, and I was hooked on fantasy for life. I got all three of my kids addicted, too; used to read Tolkien aloud to them, as well as the Narnia books. Joined Netflix a few years ago so I could watch all the Buffy episodes, one after another, with no interference -- and then all the Angel episodes, after that. (Has anyone seen the Highlander series? That was another wonderful run.)
So here I am, in my fourth career -- as an editor -- and taking recommendations for fantasy books from my granddaughter and grandson! Although I'm currently soaking up all the Patricia Briggs and Laurell K. Hamilton I can find, I've also read a couple of Amanda Hocking (will read more). My all-time favorites, books I have read over and over -- the whole series again, every time a new volume comes out -- are Diana Gabaldon's incredible Outlander series. I just read a great blog about the series, and I think it was what got me to this group, actually.
And for those of you who love long books, gorgeous writing, trilogies, and award-winning quality -- try Guy Gavriel Kay's The Fionavar Tapestry. Fionavar is the world where four graduate students travel, through a combination of weird happenings, and you will find yourself unable to put the books down (think reading in bed, while you eat, over coffee, in the bathroom... the possibilities are endless!)
I hope to find some new suggestions here, and I'm happy to have found a group of like-minded fantasy readers.
Betsy
Hi Betsy! I think it's great that you influenced your family to read the genre as well.I hope you find some new PNR and UF authors here in this group!
I'm new to all of this. I'm Carren and now that my husband and I are empty nesters I can resume my reading. I read all types of books. Not hooked onto any one genre.
Welcome to the group Carren! I guess you have more time to read now, I hope you find some good suggestions here!

Hi Betsy! I related to much of what you shared in your introductory post. AMOF, I'm hanging at my son's home to help with new grandbaby #4, & expecting #5 in 3 weeks! Prior to 'discovering' Outlander, (my utter, relentless addiction), 'hard' SF was my genre of choice, with occasional forays into rereads of classics, I.e., Bronte sistes, Austen, Wharton, C.S. Lewis, L'Engle, etc. Closer to SF 'home', I've enjoyed Tepper, l'Guin, Butler, Bear, O.S. Card, Morrow - my all time favorite being A.C. Clark's "Light of Other Days". LOVE a little social commentary and/or alternate history thrown in the mix and LOVE what I call 'serendipitous pairings', usually historical fiction or alternate history with history and/or contemporary non-fiction social commentary or futurism. My greatest joy is to see how my kids & grandkids enjoy reading, ESPECIALLY as the eldest grandson, now 7, is discovering the worlds of Narnia, Middle Earth, Hogwarts, Oz and so many other wonders for himself right now!
Stumbled onto this group because I just started reading the Mercy Thompson series and noticed the groups pic. Since I love PNR/UF books, I thought I'd join.
Welcome to the group Theresa! I hope you find some more books that interest you here. Thanks for joining.
I guess I neglected to introduce myself to the rest of the group when I replied directly to Betsy's introductory post - my apologies! Thanks for accepting my membership request, Jess. I'm posting this comment from my nookCOLOR, which is quite fun (& convenient especially when hubby is monopolizing the home laptop). As indicated in my post to Betsy, I'm a fan of SF, HF & AH. Looking forward to some quality exchanges on my favorite subject - books!
Hey Kathleen, welcome to the group!! Sorry I didn't welcome you before, I didn't realize you were new, you seemed to fit right in here lol.
Okay...so I just realized that I've never really posted my intro. My name is Jacy and I've been married for a long time and we have three kids and one on the way. I love reading and will read just about anything once. I just love being sucked into a story. I wasn't really into Urban Fantasy until I found Patrica Briggs' Mercy series. Now I can't put the stuff down. I joined the group to get some new author's and series. I've already found a few!
Hi everybody! I'm coming back to goodreads after a long hiatus. Sometimes being social online can stretch you too thin, Know what I mean? With FB,Twitter,Linkedin, etc... you could spend the entire day just catching up on everything. LoL. Anyway, I'm back and wanted to re-introduce myself. I'm Katie: wife, mother, and Urban Fantasy author (not always in that order. LoL.) I've got about 5 book under my belt (2 novels and 3 novellas).
I'm a Las Vegas lifer. I love living in sin city, as well as being a lover of all things vampire.
The last book I read was Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris. It took me a while but I really got into that series.
Hope to get to know you all better.
Hello everyone, my name is Amalie. I love urban fantasy and paranormal romance, whether it's books or movies. Between blogging, writing books, and looking after 3 young kids, I'm always on the lookout for really good books to read in these two genres so I'll check out any recommendations I haven't read in the post stream! I have one young adult urban fantasy novel coming out this June, so I'm super excited about that. The last book I read was Switched by Amanda Hocking which was a compulsive read (read it in one night). I'm still trying to get into The Fall by Guillermo del Toro, but the lure of the YA books tend to undermine that. :)
Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hey Amalie! Glad you joined. And that always happens with me when I try to read fiction books, PNR and UF always drag me back in!See you around.
