lol Christine! You may have to leave that one for another 6 months :)

Update on my books over the last week or two:

An Ice Cold Grave (Harper Connelly, #3) by Charlaine Harris
seeing I was quite lukewarm on book 1 and 2, I actually mostly enjoyed this one. (I continued the series as I get it all on audio from the library!) There were a few sex scenes I felt weren't necessary and the descriptions of violence are quite confronting, but it was a very good mystery. I'm about to start book 4 on audio

Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach
This book had high expectations from me and it was pretty good, but not fantastic. The story, character and suspense were great but I felt the end was rushed and lazy.

The Adventures of Sally by P.G. Wodehouse
My first Wodehouse! Such fun, I will certainly continue Wodehouse with the Jeeves books next as I can get them on audio. If you like Oscar Wilde, this is for you

Longbourn by Jo Baker
A very clever take on Pride and Prejudice as it concentrates on the "downstairs" of this country house. I liked how the author intertwined the P&P story through, but from a servant perspective. really enjoyable.

I started this tome
Citadel (Languedoc, #3) by Kate Mosse
which is technically number 3 in the series, but it is a series that doesn't need to be read in order as each book has a different time period and characters.

I have the dead tree version, but also started the audio and the narrator is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone interested in Historical Fiction with a dash of Fantasy.

Book 1 Labyrinth (Languedoc, #1) by Kate Mosse I read a few years ago and loved. Book 2 I struggled more to get into Sepulchre (Languedoc, #2) by Kate Mosse

I just finished
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost
which was an ok read. Review is here

Started
The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
for our BOM today and I am really enjoying it. This will be a hard one to put down! This is the second book of Moriarty's I have read and it looks like I will have to seek out more!

Anna- Maria Butucescu | 12 comments Just finished Sex in the Title by Zack Love and loved, loved, loved it!!!Couldn't put it down! It's funny but clever too, witty, very well thought out and brilliantly written. Sex in the Title: A Comedy about Dating, Sex, and Romance in NYC is a MUST read

message 1419: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (crazylittlebookpage) I'm currently reading The Atlantis Code (Thomas Lourds, #1) by Charles Brokaw and so far I'm not sure how I feel, it's far too much like Angels and Demons for me to decide if I really like the unoriginal idea of it.

message 1421: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Finished The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce - and I just adored this book - 5* for me. Just starting Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke , which I am so excited about. What a huge book, I be working on it for awhile. Also started A People's History of the United States 1492 to Present by Howard Zinn - oh it is so informative and making me so angry and disgusted with our history.

message 1422: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

@Krystal - yes it does sound a bit like Angels and Demons

@Sarah - I loved Harold fry too. we are reading her latest novel as a BR starting March 7 if you are interested. The discussion thread is here
Perfect by Rachel Joyce

message 1423: by [deleted user] (new)

I just started Cross My Heart (Alex Cross, #21) by James Patterson bu James Patterson. I always thought James Patterson was a easy read for me and so far, I am enjoying it.

message 1424: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Reading Burial Rites by Hannah Kent and so far wanting to find out more about the murders in the book - a little slow going at about 35% in. Started Unbroken A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand and have heard amazing things about this book. Also learning about some WWII history. Really liking Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke delving into the world of magic in England in early 1800's - love the witty humorous dialogue and in to this story - 1000 page book though. Also read a little here and there from The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower, #3) by Stephen King - I am enjoying the third book in King 's Dark Tower series - but I have just been reading too much other stuff.

Naura (nauratheexplora) So glad everyone is posting again! Right now I am reading The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan and The Girl on the Cliff by Lucinda Riley .

Enjoying both so far. I just finished all four parts of: Probability Chain (Part 1) by Regan Keeter . Pretty interesting stuff.

I've heard alot about that Amy Tan Novel. I'll be interested in your thoughts!

I just finished
Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey
which despite all it's awards and popularity, I just didn't really care for it. Well written, but I found it pretty boring and slow

UnSouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman
on the other hand was awesome and I couldn't put it down. It has become my favourite Dystopian YA series by far. Can't wait for book 4.

Currently getting back into Kate Daniels with
Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews
which is another great addition to the series. Love the character and world development as the books go on.

Samantha (sammie2895) | 18 comments hey guys! I am actually new here and am quite confused on how this online book club thing works. well I guess for starters I am reading A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin and it is good so far. even though I kind of messed it up for myself by watching the show first lol. I get confused on certain parts and would love to know if anyone is reading it or has read it that way we can discuss it in a bit more depth. thankies in advance! :)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments UnSouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman - Just finished this and absolutely loved it! I hate that I have to wait so long for book #4. A part of me wants to go back and read the first 2 again now that I've read this, but who has the time.

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly - I started this and it's interesting so far. Don't think I've gotten far enough to really see anything good yet.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor - I'm listening to this on audiobook and having a really hard time getting into it. So hard that I got to about Chapter 10, realized I had no clue what was happening, and started over. A part of me wonders if it's the audio or the book in general that can't keep my attention. I don't know.

Jex - I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone and found it very engaging, I imagine it would be your style too so perhaps it is the audio? It can realy affect enjoyment of a book
The Book of Lost Things I thought was ok. It was intriguing, but I didn't *love* it

message 1432: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Karen - I'm thinking I might call it quits on the audio for Daughter of Smoke and Bone and just get my hands on a the actual book. I was listening last night and was starting to finally get intrigued, but I don't know.

Fair enough. Sometimes it is a matter of mood too. Maybe with you being so busy with moving and all a simple read is in order!

message 1434: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Good point Karen. Maybe I'll try it again after things calm down.

I started listening to Stiff The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach today and am liking it so far. It's really interesting. Some of it was a bit weird to think about while scrubbing my house clean, but definitely interesting. Makes me want to donate my body to science (which is probably the point of the book to begin with).

Have been really enjoying my Aussie authors lately, so thought I'd give it a go. Spent the whole time silently screaming inside my head "why are you doing these things with this man while you have a husband and kids at home!"

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Currently working on Hilarity Ensues (Tucker Max, #3) by Tucker Max for a challenge that required an H book. My fiancé had it lying around so I selected it. Ugh! this guy is a jerk. Can't wait to finish it so I can move on to something better.

Also listening to The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence by Deepak Chopra on my commute. I love Deepak Chopra.

message 1442: by Erin (new)

Erin | 376 comments I'm rereading The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson and love it just as much as the first time. I can't wait for Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson to come out next month.

Also reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman and I really just don't like it. It didn't hook me or draw me in at all. I'm about halfway through right now and here's hoping that it gets radically better soon. The main reason I'm still finishing it is because it's so short

I must get into someone Brandon Sanderson's books one day. I quite enjoyed Steelheart.

With Gaiman, if you aren't enjoying it now it is unlikely to improve for you. He has a particular stayle of writing which people tend to love or hate.

I am almost finished with
Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) by Garth Nix
which I am enjoying even more than book 1 of the series which is unusual for me!

Also just got back into Dresden, up to book 5
Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher
which is the usual Harry escapades!

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments I just read Silence (Silence, #1) by Natasha Preston and really enjoyed it. Found it free on amazon and kobo.

YA romance. I found myself smiling alot in those "I really want to hold his hand" moments. Made me feel young again. I also enjoyed the depth of nonverbal communication portrayed.

Naura (nauratheexplora) Jex, how did you enjoy Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers??

For those of you wondering how I enjoyed that Amy Tan book last month, The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan ... I didn't. HAHA! I stopped reading after 100 pages or so. I just couldn't get into it. I usually can't stop reading a book once starting it- no matter how much I hate it- but this, I just could not read anymore. I read some o the reviews as well- and figured it wasn't worth my time since it was such a lengthy book.

The following are some of the books I have completed this past month, and enjoyed!
Seeing Stars A Novel by Diane Hammond
The Girl on the Cliff by Lucinda Riley
The Killing Room by John Manning
Doctored Evidence by Michael Biehl
The Definition of Wind A Novel by Ellen Block
Promises to Keep by Ann Tatlock
His Other Wife by Deborah Bedford

I also read Forgotten Country by Catherine Chung ; but didn't enjoy it so much.

Kristie | 3595 comments I just finished Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu and really enjoyed it. I think this is a great YA dystopian with just a bit of romance.

I'm currently reading:
Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher - it's ok. I think I expected more from the series. I'm only 20% in, so it still has time to get really good.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion - I'm about 50% through and it's kind of fun. It took me a bit to get into, but I'm enjoying it now. Though, I have to read it in little bits in my 'spare time'.

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty - Also reading in small snippets. I'm about 50% through this one as well and wish I had more time to read it. I really want to know what's going to happen, though I have my guesses.

The Darwin Elevator (Dire Earth Cycle, #1) by Jason M. Hough - Just starting this...for the third time. I won it on first reads and it might be good, but the last two times I started it I couldn't get into it. I think my mind is too busy and I can't focus on the whole sci-fi aspect of it. Hoping to have a chunk of time soon to start it and really get into it.
