Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Let's Talk About: Your Books
>
What are you reading AND what do you think?
I started this tome
which is technically number 3 in the series, but it is a series that doesn't need to be read in order as each book has a different time period and characters.
I have the dead tree version, but also started the audio and the narrator is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone interested in Historical Fiction with a dash of Fantasy.

I am currently reading
and so far it is ok. It doesn't require a whole lot of effort on my part which is kind of what I need right now.
I decided to read (or start reading) the Divergent series in the holidays. Just startes reading Divergent today - I'm already about halfway through and as hooked as can be.
Sounds like a good holiday read Jennifer!
I just finished that series Mette and quite enjoyed it. Book 3 was my favourite

I just read Comfort & Joy last night . A magical little christmas love story that got me emotionally involved. Ok a bit teary.
I know how you feel Sarah. I started like 6 books and haven't finished any. Maybe I should stick to one at a time?
I'm the same way right now. I have many books started and more planned, but I'm feeling quite unmotivated.
Ah. Sorry, Sarah. This time of year is hard - as far as interruptions - and is one of the reasons I read short books or anthologies.
I am reading Frankenstein. It is extremely tragic, gripping but tragic. I feel sorry for the supporting characters but not so for the main.
I just finished
which was an ok read. Review is here
Started
for our BOM today and I am really enjoying it. This will be a hard one to put down! This is the second book of Moriarty's I have read and it looks like I will have to seek out more!

Just finished Sex in the Title by Zack Love and loved, loved, loved it!!!Couldn't put it down! It's funny but clever too, witty, very well thought out and brilliantly written. Sex in the Title: A Comedy about Dating, Sex, and Romance in NYC is a MUST read
I started
by Maggie Shipstead last night. It's my first book by her. So far it's interesting, we'll see how it progresses.
I'm currently reading
and so far I'm not sure how I feel, it's far too much like Angels and Demons for me to decide if I really like the unoriginal idea of it.
Finished
- and I just adored this book - 5* for me. Just starting
, which I am so excited about. What a huge book, I be working on it for awhile. Also started
- oh it is so informative and making me so angry and disgusted with our history.
@Krystal - yes it does sound a bit like Angels and Demons
@Sarah - I loved Harold fry too. we are reading her latest novel as a BR starting March 7 if you are interested. The discussion thread is here

Reading
and so far wanting to find out more about the murders in the book - a little slow going at about 35% in. Started
and have heard amazing things about this book. Also learning about some WWII history. Really liking
delving into the world of magic in England in early 1800's - love the witty humorous dialogue and in to this story - 1000 page book though. Also read a little here and there from
- I am enjoying the third book in King 's Dark Tower series - but I have just been reading too much other stuff.

So glad everyone is posting again! Right now I am reading
and
. Enjoying both so far. I just finished all four parts of:
. Pretty interesting stuff.
I've heard alot about that Amy Tan Novel. I'll be interested in your thoughts!
I just finished
which despite all it's awards and popularity, I just didn't really care for it. Well written, but I found it pretty boring and slow
on the other hand was awesome and I couldn't put it down. It has become my favourite Dystopian YA series by far. Can't wait for book 4.
Currently getting back into Kate Daniels with
which is another great addition to the series. Love the character and world development as the books go on.

hey guys! I am actually new here and am quite confused on how this online book club thing works. well I guess for starters I am reading
and it is good so far. even though I kind of messed it up for myself by watching the show first lol. I get confused on certain parts and would love to know if anyone is reading it or has read it that way we can discuss it in a bit more depth. thankies in advance! :)
- Just finished this and absolutely loved it! I hate that I have to wait so long for book #4. A part of me wants to go back and read the first 2 again now that I've read this, but who has the time.
- I started this and it's interesting so far. Don't think I've gotten far enough to really see anything good yet.
- I'm listening to this on audiobook and having a really hard time getting into it. So hard that I got to about Chapter 10, realized I had no clue what was happening, and started over. A part of me wonders if it's the audio or the book in general that can't keep my attention. I don't know.
Jex - I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone and found it very engaging, I imagine it would be your style too so perhaps it is the audio? It can realy affect enjoyment of a book
The Book of Lost Things I thought was ok. It was intriguing, but I didn't *love* it

Karen - I'm thinking I might call it quits on the audio for Daughter of Smoke and Bone and just get my hands on a the actual book. I was listening last night and was starting to finally get intrigued, but I don't know.
Fair enough. Sometimes it is a matter of mood too. Maybe with you being so busy with moving and all a simple read is in order!
Good point Karen. Maybe I'll try it again after things calm down. I started listening to
today and am liking it so far. It's really interesting. Some of it was a bit weird to think about while scrubbing my house clean, but definitely interesting. Makes me want to donate my body to science (which is probably the point of the book to begin with).
Just finished
and not impressed. Have been really enjoying my Aussie authors lately, so thought I'd give it a go. Spent the whole time silently screaming inside my head "why are you doing these things with this man while you have a husband and kids at home!"
Yes it is totally fascinating reading. I was eating a spinache quiche while listening to the bit about body putrification and how the brain decomposes.... not the best idea... lol
I'm reaing Days of Blood & Starlight and while it is good it is kindasad and I'm having a hard time getting through it. I'm also rereading Wither and I'm likeing it a lot.
I am reading
by Julia Crane & Talia Jager. I haven't finished it yet but so far, I like it. It ties up all the unanswered questions from the first book. :)
Currently working on
for a challenge that required an H book. My fiancé had it lying around so I selected it. Ugh! this guy is a jerk. Can't wait to finish it so I can move on to something better. Also listening to
on my commute. I love Deepak Chopra.
I'm rereading
and love it just as much as the first time. I can't wait for
to come out next month. Also reading
and I really just don't like it. It didn't hook me or draw me in at all. I'm about halfway through right now and here's hoping that it gets radically better soon. The main reason I'm still finishing it is because it's so short
I must get into someone Brandon Sanderson's books one day. I quite enjoyed Steelheart.
With Gaiman, if you aren't enjoying it now it is unlikely to improve for you. He has a particular stayle of writing which people tend to love or hate.
I am almost finished with
which I am enjoying even more than book 1 of the series which is unusual for me!
Also just got back into Dresden, up to book 5
which is the usual Harry escapades!

I just read
and really enjoyed it. Found it free on amazon and kobo.YA romance. I found myself smiling alot in those "I really want to hold his hand" moments. Made me feel young again. I also enjoyed the depth of nonverbal communication portrayed.

Jex, how did you enjoy Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers??For those of you wondering how I enjoyed that Amy Tan book last month,
... I didn't. HAHA! I stopped reading after 100 pages or so. I just couldn't get into it. I usually can't stop reading a book once starting it- no matter how much I hate it- but this, I just could not read anymore. I read some o the reviews as well- and figured it wasn't worth my time since it was such a lengthy book. The following are some of the books I have completed this past month, and enjoyed!
I also read
; but didn't enjoy it so much.
Reading
on my Kindle- my favorite Gaiman so far. Listening to
- really fun audio with lots of people ready different characters. Most adult Gaiman I have read.
Sarah wrote: "Reading

I just finished
and really enjoyed it. I think this is a great YA dystopian with just a bit of romance. I'm currently reading:
- it's ok. I think I expected more from the series. I'm only 20% in, so it still has time to get really good.
- I'm about 50% through and it's kind of fun. It took me a bit to get into, but I'm enjoying it now. Though, I have to read it in little bits in my 'spare time'.
- Also reading in small snippets. I'm about 50% through this one as well and wish I had more time to read it. I really want to know what's going to happen, though I have my guesses.
- Just starting this...for the third time. I won it on first reads and it might be good, but the last two times I started it I couldn't get into it. I think my mind is too busy and I can't focus on the whole sci-fi aspect of it. Hoping to have a chunk of time soon to start it and really get into it.

Update on my books over the last week or two:
seeing I was quite lukewarm on book 1 and 2, I actually mostly enjoyed this one. (I continued the series as I get it all on audio from the library!) There were a few sex scenes I felt weren't necessary and the descriptions of violence are quite confronting, but it was a very good mystery. I'm about to start book 4 on audio
This book had high expectations from me and it was pretty good, but not fantastic. The story, character and suspense were great but I felt the end was rushed and lazy.
My first Wodehouse! Such fun, I will certainly continue Wodehouse with the Jeeves books next as I can get them on audio. If you like Oscar Wilde, this is for you
A very clever take on Pride and Prejudice as it concentrates on the "downstairs" of this country house. I liked how the author intertwined the P&P story through, but from a servant perspective. really enjoyable.
