Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Seems like a lot of us in this group get migraines. Could it be because we stare at a computer screen all day and read too much? ;)

Hope you get better, Jex. I get them too. And I agree with LK, NOT fun!!!

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I am currently reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern . I am enjoying it so far but I have only read the first four chapters.

message 804: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Here you go Sashana! Wings review

I also really loved Cinder. It was very inventive and I found myself breezing through it without realizing how much I'd read.

I have that one on my iPod/Touch, but haven't listened to it yet.

Thanks, Stef!

Ditto about Cinder. Didn't expect to take to it at all. I love when a book catches me off guard.

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Need (Need, #1) by Carrie Jones - Yet another selection from my "I just have to see how bad it is" list. Not a bad plot, a fairly good one actually, except for the character who is so massively stupid that its insulting to humans as a species.

message 808: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments LOL!

message 809: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Lord, Stefani. **still chuckling** I may have to use that in a review. May I quote you?

message 810: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Feel free! I've never been quoted before, I am honored.

message 811: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments LOL! I could have used that line in one I did the other day. I'm going to have to tuck that one away, Stefani! ☺

message 812: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments Making reference to Darwin rolling over in his grave could work too, I'm hanging onto that one for a really good one down the road.

message 813: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments LOL! Cute, Stefani!

message 814: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Did you try the House of Night series, Stefani? You'd strike gold with that one! So many stupid/annoying characters.

message 815: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments I attempted to read the first one at one point, but I put it down right about the time a teen boy is sexually assaulted in a hallway and then it somehow was twisted into he was the one using her simply because she was female and he wasn't.....

I still have it around here somewhere, I will have to give it another shot and actually finish it this time! My morbid curiosity gets the best of me quite often.

message 816: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Heh, what? That sounds bizarre. My sister loves the House of Night series, but she also loves every book she's ever read, ever. Except the books I give her for Christmas/her birthday.

message 817: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I recently finished Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers and I really enjoyed it. It's about Nuns...who are assassins. Need I say more?

Yes I'm serious, its actually in there lol. (view spoiler) I have a feeling that if the genders had reversed roles in that scene, there would have been a lot more outrage about it.

I have this one on my TBR list at home, and no you don't need to say more lol. Love the idea so much!

message 821: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Bad a** nuns aside, I was surprised by how much I liked it. Definitely think you should move it up on your tbr, Stefani.

message 822: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments People have been telling me to read Grave Mercy for a while. I think I'll push it up in my queue, too!

I'm in the middle of Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein and it's pretty interesting so far. The protagonist/narrator is Scottish, and I keep wishing I had gotten this on audio so maybe I could hear some awesome accents.

Also picking through When Parents Text So Much Said...So Little Understood by Sophia Fraioli , which is hysterical and reminds me so much of when my mom started texting. Lots of things lost in translation and funny auto-correct accidents.

And still listening to Bossypants by Tina Fey on audio whenever I'm not reading on my Kindle, which is hardly ever. But it's also very good.

message 823: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just finished reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch and I'm about to start The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks.

message 824: by Sashana (new)

Sashana What did you think of White Oleander, Ellie?

message 825: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I started Chill Factor today.

message 826: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments I am taking a break from horrendously bad YA for a bit, I can't survive the pain anymore. So I started Fat Politics The Real Story Behind America's Obesity Epidemic by J. Eric Oliver

So far its an interesting premise and seems to hinge on things I've suspected for a long time. We'll see how it goes from here.

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks earlier and now I'm starting Seven Up by Janet Evanovich.

message 829: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (porterak) | 0 comments Currently reading The Anastasia Syndrome and finding it very interesting about a woman with two personalities and her second one is blowing these very important places in history. Strange and interesting all the same and wondering if she is going to get caught because she has no idea that she is doing it.

message 830: by Laura (new)

Laura Reading Lethal Rider by Larissa Ione and Atlantis Unmasked by Alyssa Day.

message 831: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Last night, I finished reading Seven Up by Janet Evanovich and today I've started The Client by John Grisham.

message 832: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) | 807 comments I just finished Fat Politics The Real Story Behind America's Obesity Epidemic by J. Eric Oliver
Overall I enjoyed it, it was very well researched and put together and the author made some excellent points, but I am not sure I can agree with all of his conclusions. Gotta think a bit before I write my review.

Started this morning.... Zombie Apocalypse! by Stephen Jones . So far its interesting, though almost impossible to keep track of pages on, that's a little annoying.

message 833: by Marla Stults (new)

Marla Stults | 1 comments I just finished 11/22/63. It is a wonderful story. I just started a book thief.

message 834: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments I love The Book Thief! It's so beautiful.

I just finished Soulless by Gail Carriger, and I liked it a lot. I didn't expect to, after the first few chapters, but I got into it quickly after that and flew through it. It was definitely not what I was expecting, though.

message 835: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I am reading

The Dressmaker A Novel by Kate Alcott

Dust & Decay (Benny Imura, #2) by Jonathan Maberry

and Accidental Love by Gary Soto

message 836: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Recently finished and enjoyed Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) by Lisa Kleypas . I thought it was the prefect mix of magic an comtemporary romance. The magical aspect didn't take away from the romance, it enhanced it. Now I'm in the mood for some more romance so I started Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor, #4) by Jill Shalvis

message 837: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I am reading The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld, #8) by Gena Showalter & Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs

Laura I hope you enjoy Dust & Decay.

message 839: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments I've heard so many wonderful things about the Benny Imura series.

I read Jonathan Maberry's Patient Zero recently, and while I liked it, and I liked the story and the fast pace, I'm not sure I want to read the rest of the series, as it was pretty much non-stop blood and gore (maybe I'm exaggerating, but it felt like that to me). Is Rot & Ruin like that?

Reading Sarah Addison Allen's The Peach Keeper now. My book club is reading it this month. I haven't been in a while and I'm hoping to make it this time. Also reading The Dressmaker: A Novel.

It has some graphic scenes in it, but not as much as Patient Zero sounds like it has. Rot and Ruin is more about humanity and the ethics surrounding the zombies. It has heart. It has been one of my favorite reads of the year.

I loved Rot & Ruin and so far Dust & Decay is equally good if not better.

Thanks, that's good to know! It's been recommended to me a lot, so I'm looking forward to it.

Now I'm reading Ghouls Gone Wild (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #4) by Victoria Laurie which is awesome!

message 847: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I just finished up The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld, #8) by Gena Showalter this just might be my fav of the series now. And getting ready to read The Guardian (Dark-Hunter, #21; Dream-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
