Just started
by Robin Wasserman. Not impressed so far- it's not bad, but it's not great and it's over 400 pages long. Don't know if I'm up to 400 pages of mediocre- hope it gets better soon or gets so bad that I can just give up.

is her adult novel. I can't put my finger on why, but she just can't write a novel for adults. Something about her style or something doesn't lend itself well to writing for adults. The whole tone of the book felt wrong.
I first read this book 2 years ago and fell in love with it. After several changes recently, I am rereading it for new perspectives. It seems to be one of those books that each time you read it, you get something different out of it. In a nutshell, I am loving it!

I've never read a book by Ellen Hopkins. I'm kind of ashamed to admit that because I read so much YA. The poem thing holding me back.

You almost don't notice it, Sashana. They look like poems, but aren't really. At least not like Dickinson or Frost poems. They don't have any poetic elements, except for being freeform, that I can remember. Give one a try. They read really quick too.

Believe it or not they are actually series. But, by no means do you have to read them in order. If you are like me though it is something you just *have* to do or else it doesn't feel right. My favorites so far would have to be
and
...which happen to be Crank #1 and #2 also. I started reading
one time and then had to give it back to my friend before finishing it. Liked it, but haven't had a chance to revisit it.

as well. I have yet to read an Ellen Hopkins book that I didn't like.

Oh, I've had to do that too.

On some of the poems, though, the texts are "offset" and you read the offset portions as separate lines.

This is one of those books you either like, or you hate. I say like and not love, because I don't think you can love this story. It doesn't have that kind of feel to it.

I think, too, that it's hard to feel for adult characters sometimes. They screw their own lives. Children on the other hand, they usually get in bad situations because of other people. So, no matter their choices, you can still feel for them.

Lone Wolf will be the first Picoult book I read. I've heard so much about her other books- a lot of it negative- that I thought I'd try this book. Since it's too new for me to have developed any preconceived notions about it. Like I already really have the impression that My Sister's Keeper is overly dramatic, manipulative, etc. I figure if I like Lone Wolf, I can go on and read her other stuff.
Does anyone know how many chapters
has? A friend of mine sent me her file of it and I'm wanting to know if it's the whole thing or not...

I didn't have any luck with Lone Wolf probably because I was trying to read other books at the same time and it wasn't what I was expecting or wanting to read at the time. Although I like most of her other books.
and
are my favorites.
Just finished
. It was decent enough. I picked it up while it was free. Nothing terribly impressive. Another book where a vampire swoops in, changes a girls life, and she falls madly in love with him. I mostly read it because my name was in the title. I'm starting
today finally. A bit late, but will probably add my thoughts to the discussion anyway. I'm also still listening to
in audio form. I had to take a break because I wasn't paying attention and the due date slipped past. Had to wait until I was able to recheck out the audio book again.
Jex wrote: "I had to take a break because I wasn't paying attention and the due date slipped past. Had to wait until I was able to recheck out the audio book again."Ha! Jex, I've done that a lot lately... Real Life (& Death) being what it is, I lose my train of thought and then the library comes calling...back on the 'waitlist' I go.
I'm finishing up with
and I've really liked it... Can't wait for tomorrow though because
comes out!!!!
Just finished the audiobook of
and absolutely loved it. I thought the story-line was hilarious and the narrator did an amazing job at portraying each character uniquely. Still Reading:
. I'm enjoying this, but having trouble getting myself to read much. I think it's the being sick.
I've just finished Hot Six by Janet Evanovich, now I'm reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
Just finished
. Gotta say I am enjoying Elizabeth Reyes the more I read her. She might be my favorite self published author.
i'm reading Into the Wild i feel like skimming through it because i have so many other books that are waiting for me to read..
in my opinion, the book is mainly for kids but not for my taste. however, it's kind of wasting if i just stop reading and start another book.
I'm readingDresses of Red and Gold
and
I am almost done
It is really good, but it is hard to tell exactly when it is set
I just got
Have to say, the first 1/5 of the book is kind of dull. It did pick up and I'm enjoying it now. I also think the romance angle is taking up too much time in the book. But, that was my least favorite thing about Divergent- don't understand why a book automatically needs a romance.
Finished
yesterday and thought it was pretty good. I'm intrigued to see what the author does with the 2nd book, although it doesn't come out until next year. This is why I don't usually start series until they are completely published :-PI started reading
finally and so far I'm not terribly impressed. I hope the story stops focusing on how orgasmic everything is and starts having a real plot soon. I'm tired of the swoony main character. I want action. I also grabbed
in audio format. Something to listen to as I'm falling asleep at night.
Series are starting to frustrate me. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but the wait time is ridiculous. By the time a sequel is released I've already forgotten the major details from the previous book except for the inevitable cliffhanger. But I don't think I could wait for all of the books to be published while everyone is raving. It's a Catch 22. I agree with you about Jo from the WW series, Jex. I got tired of her halfway through book 1. She belongs in a ya book if she's that boy crazy.
She didn't bother me as much during book 1. I'm only about 50 pages into book 2 and am hoping the boy crazy fades off a bit. I'm hoping she'll get accustomed to the whole new body, new life thing and stop melting every 2 seconds.
I'm reading Parade's End by Ford Madox Ford. It's been on my to-read list for ages and I'm glad I finally got the courage to tackle it. Absolutely fantastic so far.

It has been way too long and since my library is still processing Bitterblue, seems like a good time to re-read. Graceling and Fire will only be my second and third re-reads in my whole life time. I never re-read. A Walk to Remember is the only book I have re-read and I've read it about 5 times.
I couldn't do the WW series. I read the first one and knew from there I wouldn't like the others. I didn't like Jo at ALL.
Kellyflower wrote: "Laura wrote: "I recently finished

I read the first one and loved it. I need to get the second one. Thanks for the reminder!

I just know I'm going to be confused but I don't know if I liked Divergent enough to reread it. I'm not a fan of rereading in general unless I absolutely loved the book to begin with or if I'm in a particular mood.
I liked Divergent, but I'm not sure about re-reading. I might just find a really good plot summary somewhere and read that. That is usually what I do, but I honestly wouldn't mind reliving Graceling and Fire. ;)
Rachel wrote: "I liked Divergent, but I'm not sure about re-reading. I might just find a really good plot summary somewhere and read that. Like most sequels, it pretty much goes over what happened in previous books somewhere in the beginning.
I am reading
right now. It's all right, but I feel like even though there are the same main characters in parts I and II, they are too different. Even the style of writing between the two parts seems too different; almost like reading an entirely different book. I am almost done, but I don't know what I will rate it yet.
