This morning, I have gotten some bad news. A close friend of mine has passed away. Last Tuesday, I have received a call that she had a stroke and when I have finally had a chance to talk to her this past Saturday, she told me that she had a light stroke and heart attack. Her blood pressure was high and her blood sugar was high. I was told that her blood sugar was 400. That reading can kill someone that's a diabetic. It can throw them in a coma. But thank goodness she wasn't thrown into a coma.

I had a chance to talk to her husband today and he told me that he had just helped her to the restroom to help her get changed for therapy and then she went lie down and when he came out of the restroom, he heard her take her last breath. He told me that she wasn't in any pain. He asked her, when he was helping her to the restroom and she told him no.

My friend didn't know that she was a diabetic or even had high blood pressure. For our women's retreat, she told me that her arm was hurting. She had been in an car accident last year and her arm would bother her off and on.

Ladies, please get to know your insides and out. Get check for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholestrol, thyroids, etc.

I know some people can't afford to go to the hospital, but if you get into a paid hospital. A charity hospital, do so.

We all have to leave this earth one day, but while we are still breathing, we need to know what's going on in our bodies.

Be healthy. Exercise is a body's friend. Eat right.

I love being healthy. I have no choice of being healthy. I'm healed, but at the mean time, I'm working with the condition that I have. I'm not going to say what it is.

If you are on medication. Take your medicine and the way the doctor told you to. If it says to take it twice a day. Do that. Get your prescription refill. Go to your doctor's appoint and don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions. I know some doctors be in the rush to see you and then they are out of the door. As someone in the medical field, I know that a doctor has to take time with his or her patient. Your life is in their hand. You have to make them realize that.

Remember, if you feel a pain, it's because something is wrong.

You can ignore this post if you want.

I'm posting this in love.

Vanessa Johnson (VanessaAJohnson) | 58 comments I'm playing catch up from Christmas. So sorry for your loss, Arch. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her family. I've gotten so much bad news within the past few days about family members/friends battling cancer. It's so horrific....

Yesterday, one of my aunts gone to the hospital because she was feeling well. At the hospital, she had a stroke and an anuerism. She died today.

My aunt has been feeling ill for days, but didn't go get herself check until it was too late. She had a health condition that she start to ignore.

I really wish people would take their health seriously.

If any of you are on medicatioin or even just feel a pain, get checked. Life is nothing but a vapor. You can be here today and gone tomorrow.

Fiona McGier | 128 comments Sorry for the loss of you Aunt. I just lost one of mine last month, and I had been out to see her the day before...there was no sign of her imminent demise, but she had a pacemaker, diabetes, had fought breast cancer years ago, etc. I'm so glad I got to spend the day treating her to lunch and making her feel special. Tell those you love that you do, often! You never know which time will be your last opportunity.
Love and hugs to you, Arch.

Fiona McGier | 128 comments I'm just happy that I listened to my instincts and went out to see her the day I did...I had put it off many times due to her omnipresent doctor apts. and my 2 jobs getting in the way. I was called to sub that morning, a late call, after I had already called her and told her I was coming. I told them I couldn't...that I had made plans. I'm so glad I went! I could pat her hand and cry for her with a clear conscience, knowing that at least I made her happy on her last full day of life! She had a hankering for Steak 'n' Shake, and had a double cheeseburger, fries, part of my onion rings, and a turtle milkshake! Of course she didn't finish any of it and brought it home, but she sure enjoyed what she did consume! We talked...we laughed...we hugged and said, "I love you." I treasure that, so the sadness doesn't hurt so much.
It was my Mom passing away in early December, after 4 years of me taking care of her as she slid into dementia, that still hurts. Any day I don't cry for my Mom is a good day.

Fiona McGier | 128 comments I'm sorry...I didn't mean to bring you down. My Aunt had told me that she cried over one of my books, Love Therapy, where I have a dying man apologize to his children for not being a good father. It's complicated, but it was a scene I cried over as I wrote it. I write contemporary because I try to delve into the feelings of all of my characters, and I prefer the modern world for that. Love Therapy

Chaeya | 454 comments Sorry Arch about your friend, I just saw this. I stay on top of my health too. I've had two people who are younger than me suffer strokes, one died, so it's worth it to stay up on your blood pressure. There are free clinics in the area you can go just to get a check up.

Chaeya
