What are you reading at the moment?

im currently reading Emperor: the death of kings by Conn Iggulden. i am about half woy through this book i might finish it tonight or tomorrow. :)

I've just finished Shining Levels by John Wyatt, a departure for me but I thoroughly enjoyed the read. It reminded me of my youth and the men that used to work the land around the village I grew up in.

I'm now going to read Doctor Fischer of Geneva or The Bomb Party by Graham Greene, another book I wouldn't normally pick up but I needed a rest from the usual Sci-Fi that I read.

My current read is Rendezvous With Rama which I'm struggling to get into. Unusual as I normally enjoy Arthur C Clarke

I've finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks as well as In The Forests of Serre both of which I liked. I'm very close to finally being finished with The Wise Man's Fear and just starting The Purple Emperor

I have not read that one, but like you I love Christopher Brookmyre's humour. I need to dig it out, I'm sure I have it amongst the various TBR piles!

Another pointless post from me, but some know how I like to get my 'why's' answered.

When updating status on currently reading, do you use the page you are on or the previous page, or something altogether weird if like me you picked the wrong version to put on the shelf.

I usually post the page that I'm on and if I realize I have picked the wrong version I just change it.

I'm currently almost half way thru Jurassic Park and so far I really like it. I loved the movie so I've been looking forward to this one.

I'm pleased you enjoyed . I thought it was so worth reading - Michael Crichton books are far better than the films made of them, I think - in my opinion, anyway!

This Glittering World

I am just about to finish This Glittering World and enjoyed it. She does wonderful descriptions of snow in Flagstaff which I appreciate. I don't want to tell much else as its a "who done it" and I fear to give anything away. Its not a typical one tho.

At the moment, I'm continuing to read Bleak House - do they give prizes for the longest time to finish a book, I wonder? I might win it with this one! However, although it's taking me an age, I do like it very much and think it will be a book that will stay with me - not surprising really :0)
I'm also reading Norwegian Wood and One Hundred Years of Solitude, both of which I'm enjoying! Out of the three, I wonder which I'll finish first?

I recently finished both Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution and also World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and really loved both of these. I'm just now starting The Telling

I just started another Ann Rule book as they tend to take my mind off everything else. I had attempted to read a book years ago on this subject by Mark Fuhrman. It was too terrifying so wondering if I will manage to finish this one.

I finished The Tellingwhich I really enjoyed. I'm now about 1/2 way into The Twelfth Insight: The Hour of Decision which so far I'm not enjoying very much. It seems pretty poorly written.

Maybe you're restless because all of the books you are reading are good, so you don't have a favourite and you want to read them all at the same time.

Jackie - You could be right there, I've concentrated more on two, the Stonehenge Legacy is getting intersting and I'm also enjoying the Stone of Tears now that I'm past the initial battle scene. Then I'll go with the two library books Gallows Curse and old Man of the Sea. They're reserved so I can't renew either of them!

I just finished The Postmistress and I'm glad that I stuck with it because in the end I really liked it. I'm now moving on to something that is a little less sad, hopefully. I'm just now starting Around the World in Eighty Days

Chemical Sensitivity, Volume I Very important for thos with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity but actually everyone should read it in order to protect yourself in today's toxic environment.

Can't believe I've actually finished Bleak House! Have had a love/hate relationship with it for so long, I feel a bit lost now!!!
Seriously, it was very good and by the end, I loved it. Now reading Norwegian Wood, which I started a while ago. Read lots of it yesterday, lying on Cromer beach:))

I'm just getting started on The Old Fox Deceiv'd. So far I've enjoyed all the Richard Jury mysteries that I've read so I'm looking forward to this one.

This morning I finished Love in the Time of Cholera, and I'm thoroughly disappointed. I was looking for a great love story and what I found was something obsessive and slightly disturbing. It's wrapped up in beautiful language and great writing, but creepy all the same!

You did better than I did. I started reading it and spent so much of the time thinking "What?" that I decided it was beyond me and gave it up.

I'm reading One Good Turn at the moment. Any one been watching it on TV? I prefer the books, but people I know seem to be enjoying the TV versions of Kate Atkinson's books.

They've left out lots of details and changed things round quite a lot.

Recently I've finished The Fall which I really liked. I also read Divergent which I absolutely loved. I'm currently working on The Lost World which is good but not as good as Jurassic Park

I'm about 2/3 through The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris. It's good but the magic is much less subtle than in Chocolat (which I loved)! The story is quite sinister in places. I'm hoping for a happy ending though
