time to confess: how many books did you buy this year?

Example, please, Smetchie...

Even with that, I made a lot of use out of my library. Libraries are awesome. I even started downloading audiobooks from the library to my computer to load as mp3s to a player.
Since I gained access to some ARC galley sites and got an industry insider tip on a place to get a ton of free ebooks, I haven't been making as many purchases because I'm able to find a lot of what I want for free.

Yeah, I hear you on this one. I don't play golf. I don't want an expensive car. I don't buy many of the "toys" associated with guys. So if I buy a book, I don't feel guilty much.

I totally do that too.

Yep. Just the cover. Its lovely with silver spots for the stars.

Leslie, to make you feel better, you bought half as many books as I did. I bought 147, and don't want to know how many I mooched or got from the library. *bright red with embarrassment*
I acquired 194 books this year (so far). The vast majority of those were bought used. Some were acquired for free. Some were gifts.

I can sympathize. I don't usually do that myself, but if I'm in a used bookstore and I see something I want but with a super ugly cover, I'll hold out until they get an edition with a better cover. There are several Willa Cathers I won't buy because the cover designs are SO EFFING UGLY. I will wait until someone donates their vintage Vintage Willa Cathers from the 60s and 70s.

Getting old, are you?
Getting old, are you?

It would be easy to do that, Carol - you could make a shelf just for books bought or acquired. I've been doing it in a spreadsheet for years.

You can also designate any book as owned by you, or not (this is done inside the review popup). Within your owned books you can designate any available for swap.

Getting old, are you?"
Heh. Maybe. I do like a clean typeface...

In fact, I suppose I should be happy that I went through my shelves and got rid of a bunch, about four times more than I bought. I am a rereader, though, so that's tough for me to do. I have regretted getting rid of things before.

But I'd guess I still bought 10-15. I know I bought Mockingjay, and the last Girl Who book, and The Maze Runner, and I went to Powell's and couldn't help buying Lips Touch: Three Times because it was just sooooo pretty...

Welcome Tina. I'm interested in the book scanner you purchased. Does it scan them to ebook format to be used with one of electronic readers?

i bought 31 books, i borrowed 43 books and i was gifted 8 books (and i'm expecting one more book gift for christmas). that makes 81 (in a week 82) books total. considering i've read 90 books so far this year that makes me pretty much even. enormous to-read piles (i have 11 books to read now) scare me so i'm happy i didn't go overboard with my book buying habit.
