I know I'm two days late to post the news, but New York passed a gay marriage bill this...Saturday? What are your reactions to this? Personally I think it's a big step in the right direction - I'm all for gay rights and marriage and that stuff. But I know there might be some differing opinions in this group, and there hasn't been a debate going for a few days now, so I thought I'd bring something up. :P
My religion is against it. So is my political party.

This post sums up really well why gay marriage should be legalized. Especially the point about separation of church and state. AMERICA WAS NOT FOUNDED AS A CHRISTIAN NATION.

I personally don't believe in gay marriage, but I think it should be legal. It's a choice and it should be a right.

Oh, right. How bizarre. I don't really read the Bible except when I'm waiting for the service to start at Christmas, which is really the only time I go to church, so such things are unknown to me.
I don't really read the bible. I know a lot about it, but these things I've found from my own research. I read the first 150 pages of the bible a few years ago (I wanted to read the whole bible) but there was too much incest in it for me to read further.

I'm pretty sure this verse is speaking figuratively. Saying that we shouldn't be two sided. I don't think it's meant to be taken literally.

See, what I don't understand is how these can be laughed off when they are all in the bible, but then the passage condemning homosexuality is taken as law.
What makes it any different from any of those other passages? Nothing. So why are they treated differently as well?
