totally!! the first half was such a push for me i dint like it really but it picked up toward the end :)

ditto!
ditto!

I had such hopes for this book, especially after seeing the cover months ago. But now I'm not even going to bother with any sequels.

I had such hopes ..."
I agree. It was too slow.

I didn't feel like either of her guy choices were all that exciting either. It's not good when you can put a book down and not even remember basic details about the characters.
Book 2 will at least get a shot from me though because this series COULD really go somewhere great if the author reigns it in. Dystopians are fabulous when done well, so here's hoping.
Maybe I judged this one harshly because of my love for books like Hunger Games, Maze Runner and Unwind, which were all extremely good.

@Maritza: I looooooove the Chaos Walking trilogy! Where to start? Where to start? The first book is called THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO. Here's the GR blurb:
"Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown.
But Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets.
Or are there?
Just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd unexpectedly stumbles upon a spot of complete silence.
Which is impossible.
Prentisstown has been lying to him.
And now he's going to have to run... "
It's slow at the start, but once you get into it... the closest thing I can compare it to is Hunger Games (And I love that one as well!)

It was quite slow but was worth it in the end. Bit gruesome in places too.

I almost gave up on Maze Runner because the alternate slang annoyed me so much at first. Every time I read words like "shuckface" and "klunk" it made my skin crawl. To the author's credit, he did create the alternate slang to differentiate the dystopian world those kids were living in from our normal world.
But as I continued to read on it stopped bothering me because the story was so good. I am a huge Maze Runner/Scorch Trials fan now and was glad to have given it a chance, but if I picked up the book today I might have tossed it aside within the first chapter because my patience level isn't as high as it used to be.
