Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I agree Stacia.

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) I really enjoyed the book. It sets it up perfectly for a second book. I love dystopian books and this one was a very easy read.

The part that struck me most was the 100 painting, 100 poems thing. To limit people like that is horrible and how they can't create things, listening to the same music over and over.

Bit slow to start with though, I hope the second one has a quicker pace.

I was really excited to read this book, and I wasn't disappointed. This is not the type of book that everyone likes, but I loved it. I've read that many people found it slow. It was the opposite for me. I read it in one day because I was sucked into the story. I was that interesting to me. Everyone has different tastes though. :)

Courtney K (cklueh) #####SPOILERS#####

I thought the book had the perfect pacing for the story. It was slow in the beginning b/c Cassia was still under the Society's influence and was zombie-like. The pace picked up as she began to think for herself and rebel. The rebellion was so seemingly little b/c she had been going along with EVERYTHING for so long that each little act was enormous for her character. Even one mistake could lead to life changing events-- see the Markham family.

####END#####

message 70: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 914 comments He's too safe. I think this book could do with more adventure and forbidden love in it. I would have loved more of that.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I hope they're on the run and having real issues in book 2.

message 72: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 914 comments HAHA!!!! I hope so too!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Nope, it definitely was not just you. A few of us felt like it had some boring parts. I'll still read book 2 because I have hope that this is going to go somewhere.

thats how i feel like i will read the second one but if it doesnt pick up after that then.... i probably wont read past the second book

message 80: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I agree Artemis... It was really GOOD, but not AMAZING.

message 81: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I liked the idea of it. I think it just could have gone alot faster

message 82: by Maritza (new)

Maritza | 169 comments Omg do you think she'll only love kye because when theres a sequel, they start liking someone else then they get confused and i get mad

message 83: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 914 comments Haha! Oh jeeze! Hope not. I think the main reason I will read the next one is because I don't like to just leave a series. And I kind of want to know what will happen.

message 84: by Maritza (new)

Maritza | 169 comments If she falls in love with another guy I'm not reading the third book......ok maybe I still will bt the whole time I'll look angry. like this >:-[

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) I recommended the book to someone and she's started reading it but thinks the 'slowness' of the first part of the book might be deliberate as the character has a zombie state of mind, doing what society says etc...

I quite liked Xander at first. I thought their friendship/relationship was really sweet and innocent, kind of like your first relationship when you're younger.

I could also hear The Hunger Games in it too when they started to talk about other places revolting :)

message 86: by Tessa Quin (new)

Tessa Quin | 5 comments I read the Hunger Games after I read Matched (I know, I've been living under a rock...or on a rock in my case: Iceland), so I didn't have it to compare with. I think that if I'd read the Hunger Games first, I wouldn't have liked Matched as much as I did.

Cassia is completely different from Katniss, but there's still something about the story that reminds me now of the Hunger Games.

I did like Xander better than Kai. I hope this will change by reading the next book. It's not that I disliked Kai, I just liked Xander better. I suppose it's a little like the Hunger Games - I always liked Gale better than Peeta.

I'm certain, though, that Cassia will end up with Kai, although it's nice to know she'll have Xander just in case ;)

message 87: by Maritza (new)

Maritza | 169 comments I lyk the hunger games much better! It was always so interesting especially because katniss is a strong character.........I like peeta nd kye.. .xander seemed weak to me

message 88: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Shoffitt | 11 comments Yeah....Xander seems like a bit of a dud. Tho maybe he is a 'sleeper' character and will turn out to be amazing. Some of the things he does towards the end make me think there might be more to him than I initially thought.

Or maybe he's just a dud lol.

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 914 comments The weak shall rise!!!! Or, they do in my head. I always end up cheering for the underdog. I feel sad for them.

You will fall hard for Jace in Shifters. He's the underdog, but still so irresistable. I know you will. Just like Joanna and I have. I think Mrs. Brightside is a fan too.

message 95: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) His names hot too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think that the name Jace must be an automatic ticket to hotness.

message 97: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Definitely.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hmmm...as for Xander and Ky. I actually sort of liked Xander (he was the best friend, right? I'm forgetting the book already...never a good thing) and feel like he's going to end up being treated like garbage at the expense of Cassia's whims. Just a thought I have.

message 99: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (camillaisloved) | 914 comments I hate that I feel you are going to be right Stacia. :( and what's with your name? You'll return 2/19?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's sort of an inside joke with a couple of friends saying that we won't be "all here" until we're done reading Shadowfever.
