DHASG 2011 Mega-Challenge

I read the short story that precedes the series and I REALLY didn't like it, so I've been hesitant to start the real books.

Megan, I just finished the second/third book. The prequel wasn't very good but it is vaguely important to No Rest for the Wicked as it is referenced. Both it and A Hunger like No Other are really good. Looking forward to reading the next book.

I've never read the prequel myself - I rarely do. Since they are usually in anthologies, and I rarely read anthologies, I usually miss them entirely. You should give a try, and if you don't like THAT one, then I'd say this series is just not going to happen for you. :)

That is a really good point Bianca. Plus the whole reincarnation thing is pretty stalkerish even though it was not very sinister.

And you make an equally good point about CF, Danielle! I've actually only read one of the Carpathian books so it'll give me a good reason to go there. Plus she has another Leopard People book coming out soon and they are pretty stalkerific.

He’s the assassin, the one in control and she comes in and bam self control and common sense out the window. Not enough bad boys...last year I think every book was a bad boy stalkerific male, but this year the women are the ones getting saved by good guys...really hot and hunky but not bad like last years men...May need to do some re-reads...but as of March 1...here's were I am at:

10:Completely lethal, seemingly remorseless, has no problem killing to get the job done, or killing as the job. Killing someone doesn't phase him. It's either him or them and don't let someone be after someone he loves. More or less amoral-except when it comes to things that have true value to him (like his heroine or his family). The mission is all that matters to him (at least until he falls for his heroine).
9:Not the guy to mess with. He has few boundaries he won't cross.
8:He can be ruthless. Not above doing almost anything for self-promotion. Has and will betray those close to him if needed. He has a code, but it's his own code--not necessarily in line with established laws, rules, or mores.
7:Most people would probably consider him insane or crazy, or just kinda whacked in the head. A scary guy.

He’s the assassin, the one in control and she comes in and bam self control and common sense out the window. Been a long time since I updated. I just finished a book and maybe some of you could use it for location. I'm more of a flaky kind of reader so this one was quite a departure but so worth it. The The Fallen Blade: Act One of the Assassini(Assassini series) by Jon Courtenay Grimwood, check this out:
Venise 1407, an amnesic boy is found on a ship, the duke in charge is dumb so his uncle and aunt rule in his stead. Lots of power plays and assassination to further trade routes and cement alliances as well as kidnapping. The boy become the apprentice into the Assissini caste. The alternate history story is dark and gritty, with sorcerers, wolves and a refreshing twist to the vampire myth...it is no Twilight.
Ok I'm rambling a bit but I was floored by this story.
