the fourth wasn't that bad. Compared to Larsson's trilogy, there are some off aspects, and the plot was way too easy to guess, but I enjoyed the plot, maybe not so much the writing, but the plot was nice.
I gave it up after 100 pages. There are too many books out there to get bogged down in something so boring. They say it gets better. Not worth my time to try and find out.
Have to say I found all 3 of the books in the series fascinating and enjoyed the read from beginning to end. So much so that I bought the DVD's, both version and I find them equally good. Not read the newer book, the 4th so will have to wait as other books need my attention both paperback and Kindle books.
I am always amazed (though I shouldn't be!) that folk can have such differing views to mine on books. I thought this trilogy was ace when I first read it a few years ago. I did not struggle with the beginning- (clearly says something about my head I know that I am interested in money, finance, hacking etc!) and I knew in advance I was reading a book that had been translated from the original Swedish so I was not phased by Swedish names and cultural references. Some of the descriptions are shocking and difficult to read but are essential parts of the story development. I would agree that if you do not like edgy, often unpleasant characters and storylines - these books are not for you. However, if you like Jeffrey Deaver and Kathy Reichs - you may well like This trilogy.

I've not read anything by her but considering that we share the same enthusiasm for the Millennium Trilogy and that I really like Deaver I have to try Reichs now.
I'm unsure about whether I want to try the new Lisbeth Salander book, The Girl In The Spider Web. I imagine it's going to be like reading a James Bond book by someone other than Ian Fleming. But knowing me my curiosity will probably get the better of me.

I have yet to read anything written by a 'pretender' which in any way matches the original so I have decided not to bother any more! But let me know if no 4 is any good! I am always willing to be convinced! Good reading with Kathy Reichs - I really like her stuff!
I think I might have had a hard time reading this trilogy in book form, but as an audiobook it carried me away into an exciting world that was thrilling - and yet deeply emotional. I think the narrative in itself is best appreciated when one infuses it with one's own imaginative reality in 3-D Imax visual intensity and supplements it with self-created backstory and parallel plots

I just finished The Girl In The Spider's Web, the 4th book in the series by David Lagercrantz. I'll do a review in just a bit.

My review.
I found it difficult until just over halfway through, it was all the swedish names of places that would break my reading because i couldnt for the life of me read them! but i am glad i powered through it as i really enjoyed it. To be honest i was a bit disappointed with the ending, after all the build up it became a little anticlimactic
I did not have a hard time and I enjoyed all three novels-to bad the author died. I will not read the new novel in the series however.

I gave it 4 stars.

I did not have a hard time reading the first novel at all. Maybe the beginning was a bit slow but man, what a spectacular thrilling roller coaster ride that was! I mean, I was so intrigued with the series and the story lines and mannn, the characters!!!!!!!I can tell you that the last book was a bit slow. I wish there was more to it idk how to explain but yea.
Honestly, I didn't like the book.It was awful. Too graphic at parts...
The anal rape scene... is just nasty, vulgar. He could have put it differently. (I've read this type of scenes in books where authors managed to be thought-provoking. Larsson couldn't reach that point, IMO.)
I think it reads easily and quickly... It's just light literature (not the good "light" like London or Verne) with too little to offer.

4th one is dreadful & if I were you I would not waste your time & sour the memory of the 1st 3.
