Melanie (msmhelais) | 4 comments I'm currently reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult ... I watched the film before and i'm curious if the novel is better than the movie. I really want to read more... something that will touch my heart and another book genre that will catch my attention. Hope that some of you can recommend me something. Thanks.

These books are on my TBR list. I've heard they are great but a little slow to start. What did you think about the first 2?

yes the first one is a little slow and at times quite boring but as the story progressed i noticed that it's really good and it just keeps on getting better that as time passes by its getting harder for me to put it down. these books certainly had a strong grip on me :)

I'm halfway throught Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James at the minute. Can't put it down!

message 356: by Lori (new)

Lori Baldi I just started Silk Is for Seduction since I need to switch things up every now and then. A little romance here, a little World War 2 story there, a mystery every once in a while. I do enjoy the historical romances of Loretta Chase.

Nicole | 66 comments Something Borrowed (Darcy & Rachel, #1) by Emily Giffin I don't usually like chick lit, but this one I am really enjoying. I only became interested in it because I enjoyed the movie.

@Melanie,
Heartbreak Creek by Kaki Warner was a fun read. It surprised me with romance and humor that was unexpected. It's also an easy read. By that,I mean it was a pleasure, not a workout!
Stephen King's The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is a very good story. It's not a horror story.
Clive Barker's The Thief of Always was fun. It is not a horror story, either.
Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky was quite interesting. It said alot about girls in high school and the relationships they have with their parents.
Chris Bohjalian's books, particulary Midwives and The Law of Similars Midwives by Chris Bohjalian The Law of Similars by Chris Bohjalian are compelling reads. Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky The Thief Of Always by Clive Barker The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King Heartbreak Creek (Runaway Brides #1) by Kaki Warner
I chose these off the top of my head, since I don't know how old you are or what your particular tastes are.

Have you read Ernest Gaines' book A Lesson Before Dying ?
A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines

It's a relatively recent book, but reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
(which is also a great read, if you haven't read it yet)

Thank you very much for that. I'll put them in my to-read list. Well, any book genre will do as long as it will not make me feel bored. Thanks again :)

I just finished The Hobbit today. Basically I did nothing else in my free time but read this book. I really loved it, even if some aspects of the ending were a little disappointing to me (sometimes I get annoyed when my expectations are subverted). I'm looking forward to reading the LOTR series now, even if I'm planning on taking a short break and reading some other stuff in-between.
