I'm currently reading
... I watched the film before and i'm curious if the novel is better than the movie. I really want to read more... something that will touch my heart and another book genre that will catch my attention. Hope that some of you can recommend me something. Thanks.

yes the first one is a little slow and at times quite boring but as the story progressed i noticed that it's really good and it just keeps on getting better that as time passes by its getting harder for me to put it down. these books certainly had a strong grip on me :)
I just started Silk Is for Seduction since I need to switch things up every now and then. A little romance here, a little World War 2 story there, a mystery every once in a while. I do enjoy the historical romances of Loretta Chase.

I don't usually like chick lit, but this one I am really enjoying. I only became interested in it because I enjoyed the movie.
@Melanie,
Heartbreak Creek by Kaki Warner was a fun read. It surprised me with romance and humor that was unexpected. It's also an easy read. By that,I mean it was a pleasure, not a workout!
Stephen King's The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is a very good story. It's not a horror story.
Clive Barker's The Thief of Always was fun. It is not a horror story, either.
Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky was quite interesting. It said alot about girls in high school and the relationships they have with their parents.
Chris Bohjalian's books, particulary Midwives and The Law of Similars
are compelling reads.
I chose these off the top of my head, since I don't know how old you are or what your particular tastes are.

Melanie wrote: "I really want to read more... something that will touch my heart..."Have you read Ernest Gaines' book A Lesson Before Dying ?
It's a relatively recent book, but reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird
(which is also a great read, if you haven't read it yet)

I think I devoured the 3 books in a matter of 2 weeks!!

Thank you very much for that. I'll put them in my to-read list. Well, any book genre will do as long as it will not make me feel bored. Thanks again :)

"I love that book!! I was so amazed by how well Wally Lamb wrote as a woman, I found myself forgetting often that it was written by a man at all!
Currently I am reading
The Litigators by John Grisham. It is very lighthearted compared to some of his others; I love the characters...they are a riot.

Add me to the list of fans of Wally Lamb's

I have just started reading the latest Flavia de Luce mystery stories titled "I am Half-Sick of Shadows". She's my favourite precocious 11 year old detective!
Jonathan wrote: They're some of my favourite ever books. I love how Tolkien creates such a massive and realistic world with so many fantasy elements at the same time."I just finished The Hobbit today. Basically I did nothing else in my free time but read this book. I really loved it, even if some aspects of the ending were a little disappointing to me (sometimes I get annoyed when my expectations are subverted). I'm looking forward to reading the LOTR series now, even if I'm planning on taking a short break and reading some other stuff in-between.

How is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo book in comparison to the movie? I have only seen the movie but have been wanting to read the book.
