"Time to Climb Mt. TBR" Challenge [ENDED: 12/31/11]
LOL! "drunk-tattoos" I hear ya! It's super easy to bite off a bit more than you can chew. But, like you said, we've got all year and ya never know just how many books you'll read in 365 days. Yes, yes. Miss AV there is the mastermind enabler for "The Dirty Dozen". Don't let 'er fool ya, she comes up with some wicked challenges. :)
Yeah, AV, you could cut back and do just 1-2 years for "Back to the Future", that's not a problem at all. Don't have to do all years, just have to do all slots for whichever years you do choose.

But, like you said, we've got all year and ya never know just how many books you'll read in 365 days. ..."Yep... I am up to 7 books that are 2010 I think. I believe they are all in challenges already. There are probably more. I am not sure what other years will work. I need to look. I don't think I have enough for 2011. I have lots of series I want to finish that aren't having any new books out. So hard to choose. I don't want to over do it.
Steph wrote: "Start small and add to it, if you'd like, later on in the year. :)"I suppose I could do that. My first 2 books are 2006. (The 2nd and 3rd Maximum Ride books) I don't know if I will have 4 more from 2006 or if those even count. I am also reading the Harry Potter series for the first time. I read book 1. (You guys see the rest in my list lol)
Anyway... I am excited to start THIS challenge... and I added 5 more books. Strangely having 5 more makes it seem easier for me. Probably because I have so many series books in there. If I get bored I can jump to another series. I hope that having 30 is okay. If not I can change it.
Steph wrote: "Of course, more is always fine. :)"*does a happy dance* I need to read the books I have to finish this year and stop getting so excited about next year.
Steph wrote: "Of course, more is always fine. :)"Ah crap. Why'd you have to go & say that? Now I'm going to be adding more books to my challenge because I'm giant masochist. Damn you!
Lethal, there are more challenges just around the corner. You don't have to put all your
LOL!! First I'm not sure you'll join us and now ya wanna add more?? Color me surprised. Might wanna take Sandra's advice and hold off ... Got some goodies on the way. :)
Darn! you know my selfcontrol is weak. Make them mini challanges a month or a couple months long, Steph.
We'll definitely have mini-monthlies throughout 2011. Buuuut, there are some 3-12 month long beautes coming too. >:)

Okay, Sandra & Steph. I will resist temptation, especially if there are mucho awesome challenges in the future. I just...well, I started looking at my TBR shelves & realized there were a lot that had been on there for awhile & that I might need an extra push to read. But I didn't want to take the ones off my list that I already had....& yeah. I'm resisting. Right now. If I add more books, feel free to pimp slap me.
I couldn't resist the temptation... I had to add more. I think it somehow makes it easier because I have more to choose from. I have most of my books from other challenges on this list. I have a couple from Reading Resolutions not on here and of course the chick lit/romance category and the public domain category for Dirty Dozen. I probably will read almost exclusively from this list until I finish this challenge or make a huge dent in it. :)
AV, I'll definitely tell Steph to get the whip out ....The idea is to actually finish your list and then feel exceptionally great about yourself!!!
You could always make a 2nd list, after you've finished the 1st one, if you felt the need to force yourself to read those books.
Sandra wrote: "AV, I'll definitely tell Steph to get the whip out ....The idea is to actually finish your list and then feel exceptionally great about yourself!!!

Oh trust me... I intend to make a second list. I will do that in July or August though. It will have less books on it of course. It will be whatever challenge books are left. :) (I say July or August because forever comes out in July and I have Wolfsbane preordered. :D
Great lookin' lists, Zaanodes, Judithe and Amanda. Don't overwhelm yourselves, Lethal and AV. But, if having more than 25 listed here will help you get through all the books you'd like to get read, then go for it. There are many more challenges to come in 2011 though. I'm sure you'll find a home for them on another list. :)

LOL! Great idea, Sandra! I can see where I'm at on the list in say...June & if I've got most-or all-knocked off, I can make another list. Thanks!
@ Steph: Oh, I'm sure I will. I'm such an unrepentant challenge-slut that I don't think I'll be able to resist participating in more challenges than I can handle. I'm addicted to the fuzzy feelings of accomplishment I get when I complete my goals.

Do you ladies think I am listing too many? I was planning on spreading out the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books to one each per month. I thought that listing more would give me more options. The last 5 are already in other challenges anyway. (Hunger Games series for Better Late Than Never and The other 2 are Reading Resolutions I believe.
Silly girl, you should know the answer to the question, "Too many books?" around here! Three words = No such thing. :)

Steph wrote: "Silly girl, you should know the answer to the question, "Too many books?" around here! Three words = No such thing. :)"I should know better than to ask any of you... I think I am going to keep them there. They are books I know I want to read. Some of my books are long and some are short but I am sure many will breeze by no matter what length. I noticed some people have some of the sames books listed. I would love to chat about them after you read them. ( I noticed Nightshade, Hunger Games and Wicked Lovely listed.) I have had Wicked Lovely on my Kindle for SOOOO long. I got it as a freebie. I don't read much about fae so I figured I may as well make myself give it a chance. If I love it, it will be a nice surprise.
Vivian wrote: "Aahh, panic is setting in, gotta see if I want to make any last minute changes..."LOL. Don't panic! Just make sure they are all ones you REALLY want to read. You will do fine!
They are, it's the whole no change thing that gets me since I have yet to keep to an original challenge list. But this is good, it'll force me to get to a couple I keep putting off but I know I want to read.
Awesomevegan wrote: "I would love to chat about them after you read them. ( I noticed Nightshade, Hunger Games and Wicked Lovely listed.) I have had Wicked Lovely on my Kindle for SOOOO long."Wicked Lovely is going to be my first book of 2011. I'd love to chat about it with you when you read it :)

I haven't even finished any challenges at all yet... including ones I made. :-P I have a few on there I have been putting off because they didn't fit in or I forgot about them... but not any more. I will finish these books!
Thanks for posting the links so we can find our posts, Steph! I forgot to write it down and was wondering where I posted it...lol! But it was fun to re-read the last page of comments! Now waiting for the delivery man....yep, I didn't read the rules carefully enough so don't (hopefully soon to be "didn't"!) have those at hand...sigh....
LOL, Vivian. :) You can edit your list on your member list page, like changing the order or something if you get twitchy, but no changes to the main list. We can create a "Read It, Review It" thread if you'd like to start sharing reviews for some of your reads. That way they'd all be in one convenient spot for everyone to reference.
You're welcome, Judithe. No worries.
Welcome, Kristen. Don't forget to post your list before New Years Day. :)
The closer the clock ticks to 12 am, the more I'm second guessing myself. I have The Hunger Games on the mountain but I'm like #140 in line at the library. Should I keep it on there or change it to something else for fear that it might not get to me in time? Thoughts & advice are welcome & appreciated.
I read the Hunger Games and Loved it! It's definately worth reading but that is quite a wait you have ahead of you to get it. I found when I read it that I had to take my time with it because it has a very in depth storyline that I really enjoyed and wanted to prolong as long as possible until the next book came out. I don't know if this is any help to you :0) Good luck with your decision.
Kristen, are you EST or CST? I never remember for Michigan. I'm CST in Chicago, and I'm taking my sweet procrastinating time getting my list up. I have 3 hrs & 45 minutes left. :)

You have all of 2011 to read the bks for this challenge. :)
Relax. Breathe. Read. Enjoy.
Just a friendly reminder as we all either start or prepare to start climbing our mountain. In addition to the 'no changes' rule that I'm sure everyone knows by now, you must read your two oldest (as in on your list the longest, not as in age of the book) books first. Once those two are read, you can read the rest of your books in any order. :)
Game time, ladies and gents! Happy reading and Happy New Year to everyone!
LMAO!! and just like that, I blew it. I started "Abby Cooper" this morning and it's, you guessed it, NOT one of my two oldest on my list. So, "do as I say, not as I do" seems to fit this situation nicely. That and a big, "Oops! My bad!"
Moving onto my anthologies, so I can get back to Abby and her hottie detective. :)

And the challenge begins! At least it does for me. I refrained from drinking as much wine as I wanted to because I am useless when I'm drunk. I can't even watch TV, I'm so out of it so reading would be out of the question. So sober I stay!Thank you all for the advice! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get on GR in time to switch The Hunger Games out for something else. *sigh* Ah well.

Miss Mega Mind? Who me? *looks around innocently* I feel like the sailor with tattoos too. I think I am going to drop out of Back to the Future and RRCs Lifetime of Reading. I don't want to keep up with dates... :-P Or maybe just do 2010 and maybe one other year?
