Miss Mega Mind? Who me? *looks around innocently* I feel like the sailor with tattoos too. I think I am going to drop out of Back to the Future and RRCs Lifetime of Reading. I don't want to keep up with dates... :-P Or maybe just do 2010 and maybe one other year?

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments LOL! "drunk-tattoos" I hear ya! It's super easy to bite off a bit more than you can chew. But, like you said, we've got all year and ya never know just how many books you'll read in 365 days.

Yes, yes. Miss AV there is the mastermind enabler for "The Dirty Dozen". Don't let 'er fool ya, she comes up with some wicked challenges. :)

Yeah, AV, you could cut back and do just 1-2 years for "Back to the Future", that's not a problem at all. Don't have to do all years, just have to do all slots for whichever years you do choose.

Yep... I am up to 7 books that are 2010 I think. I believe they are all in challenges already. There are probably more. I am not sure what other years will work. I need to look. I don't think I have enough for 2011. I have lots of series I want to finish that aren't having any new books out. So hard to choose. I don't want to over do it.

message 155: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Start small and add to it, if you'd like, later on in the year. :)

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments Steph wrote: "Start small and add to it, if you'd like, later on in the year. :)"

I suppose I could do that. My first 2 books are 2006. (The 2nd and 3rd Maximum Ride books) I don't know if I will have 4 more from 2006 or if those even count. I am also reading the Harry Potter series for the first time. I read book 1. (You guys see the rest in my list lol)

Anyway... I am excited to start THIS challenge... and I added 5 more books. Strangely having 5 more makes it seem easier for me. Probably because I have so many series books in there. If I get bored I can jump to another series. I hope that having 30 is okay. If not I can change it.

1. Eragon Jan. 10 ★★★ Better than I expected!
2. Naked Came the Phoenix Jan. 19 ★★★ This was such a fun read. It is amazing to me that 13 writers can put together a cohesive story. I may try other serial novels!
3. Ruthless Game Feb. 22 ★★★★ This had an ‘off’ feel as compared to the rest of the series, not as tight, the flow was different, etc. Still and all it was a Ghostwalker.
4. Finding Destiny Mar. 27 ★★★★ I really like this series.
5. Blue: Dead and Alive (Non-PNR 1) June 16 ★★★★ I really like this take on Frankenstein.
6. Cry Wolf Mar. 3 ★★★★ So, far, I like this series better than the Mercy series.
7. Dark Protector Feb. 13 ★★★★ So what is Barak’s story??
8. : Atlantis Awakening Mar. 3 ★★★ Great story, execution not so much.
9. [[book:Desire Unchained|4497978] Jan. 27 ★★★ Go, Runa!!
10. Dark Warrior Untamed Mar. 7 ★★★ I hope we find out more about Piper.
11. Prince of Ice Jan. 22 ★★★★ Mama, those Yama!!
12. Bloodfever Feb. 14 ★★★★ Much better than the 1st book.
13. Demon Moon Feb. 1 ★★★★ I really like this series.
14. A Hunger Like No Other Feb. 13 ★★★★ She is really a wimp but it worked and I liked it…I am surprised
15. Skykeepers Feb. 18 ★★★ Definitely interesting enough to keep going
16. Taken by Midnight Jan. 20 ★★★★ Questions, questions, questions…gotta read the next to see if they get answered!!
17. The Darkest Night Mar. 4 ★★★ Intriguing…
18. At Grave's End Mar. 5 ★★★★Bones and Cat get better and better
19. King of Sword and Sky Feb. 21 ★★★★ This series is really getting good!
20. Seduce Me in Dreams: A Three Worlds Novel Apr. 10 ★★★ The phraseology was a tad…different. I liked this premise. I wonder where the plot goes in Seduce Me in Flames
21. Indulgence in Death Apr. 3 ★★★★ Ah, this has to be my all-time curl up with a cuppa and a snuggie by the fire feel good series. I will go hungry to buy this series!
22. Lover Unleashed Apr. 2 ★★★★ Another out of the park for the WARDen!
23. Mercy Burns June 12 ★★★★ Ah, Mercy and Damon. Gotta love Keri. Hmmm...What to say? I WANT ME ONE OF THESE DRAGONS!
24. Spirit Bound Dec. 28 ★★★★ I am really liking this series. Of course, I really liked the Drake sisters and as this is a spin-off...well...
25. Retribution Aug. 2 ★★★★ Focused on a different pantheon. Great series.

Okay, Sandra & Steph. I will resist temptation, especially if there are mucho awesome challenges in the future. I just...well, I started looking at my TBR shelves & realized there were a lot that had been on there for awhile & that I might need an extra push to read. But I didn't want to take the ones off my list that I already had....& yeah. I'm resisting. Right now. If I add more books, feel free to pimp slap me.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I couldn't resist the temptation... I had to add more. I think it somehow makes it easier because I have more to choose from. I have most of my books from other challenges on this list. I have a couple from Reading Resolutions not on here and of course the chick lit/romance category and the public domain category for Dirty Dozen. I probably will read almost exclusively from this list until I finish this challenge or make a huge dent in it. :)

Sandra | 25908 comments AV, I'll definitely tell Steph to get the whip out ....

The idea is to actually finish your list and then feel exceptionally great about yourself!!!

You could always make a 2nd list, after you've finished the 1st one, if you felt the need to force yourself to read those books.

Oh trust me... I intend to make a second list. I will do that in July or August though. It will have less books on it of course. It will be whatever challenge books are left. :) (I say July or August because forever comes out in July and I have Wolfsbane preordered. :D

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Great lookin' lists, Zaanodes, Judithe and Amanda.

Don't overwhelm yourselves, Lethal and AV. But, if having more than 25 listed here will help you get through all the books you'd like to get read, then go for it. There are many more challenges to come in 2011 though. I'm sure you'll find a home for them on another list. :)

LOL! Great idea, Sandra! I can see where I'm at on the list in say...June & if I've got most-or all-knocked off, I can make another list. Thanks!

I should know better than to ask any of you... I think I am going to keep them there. They are books I know I want to read. Some of my books are long and some are short but I am sure many will breeze by no matter what length. I noticed some people have some of the sames books listed. I would love to chat about them after you read them. ( I noticed Nightshade, Hunger Games and Wicked Lovely listed.) I have had Wicked Lovely on my Kindle for SOOOO long. I got it as a freebie. I don't read much about fae so I figured I may as well make myself give it a chance. If I love it, it will be a nice surprise.

We can create a "Read It, Review It" thread if you'd like to start sharing reviews for some of your reads. That way they'd all be in one convenient spot for everyone to reference.

You're welcome, Judithe. No worries.

Welcome, Kristen. Don't forget to post your list before New Years Day. :)

Should I keep it on there or change it to something else for fear that it might not get to me in time? Thoughts & advice are welcome & appreciated.

message 194: by [deleted user] (new)

I read the Hunger Games and Loved it! It's definately worth reading but that is quite a wait you have ahead of you to get it. I found when I read it that I had to take my time with it because it has a very in depth storyline that I really enjoyed and wanted to prolong as long as possible until the next book came out. I don't know if this is any help to you :0) Good luck with your decision.

Do you think it'll take longer than a year to get to #140? If not, keep it there. You have all of 2011 to read the bks for this challenge. :)

Relax. Breathe. Read. Enjoy.

message 197: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Just a friendly reminder as we all either start or prepare to start climbing our mountain.

In addition to the 'no changes' rule that I'm sure everyone knows by now, you must read your two oldest (as in on your list the longest, not as in age of the book) books first. Once those two are read, you can read the rest of your books in any order. :)

Game time, ladies and gents! Happy reading and Happy New Year to everyone!

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments LMAO!! and just like that, I blew it. I started "Abby Cooper" this morning and it's, you guessed it, NOT one of my two oldest on my list.

So, "do as I say, not as I do" seems to fit this situation nicely. That and a big, "Oops! My bad!"

Moving onto my anthologies, so I can get back to Abby and her hottie detective. :)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments And the challenge begins! At least it does for me. I refrained from drinking as much wine as I wanted to because I am useless when I'm drunk. I can't even watch TV, I'm so out of it so reading would be out of the question. So sober I stay!

Thank you all for the advice! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get on GR in time to switch The Hunger Games out for something else. *sigh* Ah well.
