I officially give up on this list... I tried to read Never Let Me Go and I started it weeks ago - never got further than half way through the book. At first it was interesting me enough to read on, but there seems to happen NOTHING at all, it's just not my style of book. Well, I hope I'll have better luck next time with my selection

I had high hopes for it too.
good to see that I'm not alone here... and I'm all for character studies, but this just got boring after a while. I wasn't even curious enough to read on to finally find out what on earth was going on the 'donors' and 'carers' and whatever

last night. It was a cute historical romance. The main character was pretty naive for a women stuck in the middle of a war but it was enjoyable. ***

Thanks for the generous offer, but I was able to procure an electronic version. : )
I finished Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake last night. It was pretty entertaining and I had a hard time putting it down. 5 stars
Grave Mercy - 13 May 12 (5 stars)
I really enjoyed this book. It's more historical fiction than fantasy. Ismae, the main character, is a daughter of Death -- called Mortain, and that gives her certain skills. Mortain is a god, but with the coming of Christianity, the Bretons have declared their old gods saints so they can still honor them without risking the wrath of Rome. Mortain appears to be based on the god Hades.
The plot centers around Ismae's mission of discovering who might be the traitor in Anne of Brittany's court. France wants to add the rich duchy to its possessions, either by marriage or by force. The late duke had promised his daughter's hand in marriage to nearly every powerful ruler in Europe with the hope of keeping the duchy independent of France. None of the betrothals were in writing, however, and a treaty with France states that any proposal must be approved by the French court.
Things are complicated by the fact that the convent's orders are that she assassinate whoever has the mark of Mortain, but it isn't that simple. None of the suspected plotters are marked, as far as Ismae can tell. She begins to question the order's purpose. Are they truly guided by Mortain's will or has human politics been allowed to influence their actions? And what about redemption? Can a person, once marked, make atonement and be spared?
Looking forward to reading the next book.
I read The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter for The Goddess Interrupted, finished it on May 21 and giving it 3*. I really wanted to like this book since I'm a big fan of Greek mythology, but I just couldn't feel the connection between the main two characters and that totally ruined it for me. I liked the concept though and secondary characters were awesome. (:

Elegy for Eddie by Jacqueline Winspear
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa (1)Yz - 6/7 ****

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Gilt by Katherine LongshoreOne Foot in the Grave
Oh, this is a tough one. For another challenge in June, I'm reading One Foot in the Grave -- so it should be a no-brainer. But I also would like to read Heist Society.
I'm going to see if I can track down an audio for Heist Society or Leviathan, but if not, I'll go with the easy option of One Foot in the Grave...
Jane (PS) wrote: "I'm going to see if I can track down an audio for Heist Society or Leviathan, but if not, I'll go with the easy option of One Foot in the Grave..."Dang - I just can't find an audiobook for the Heist Society anywhere - not to buy or to borrow! Bl**dy DRMs :( (I can't find Leviathan either *shrugs*)
I guess I'll have to listen to
I finished Bitterblue and all in all was rather disappointed in this childish book. The writing style just didn't fit with the other two books in the series.
I finished Kagawa's The Iron Knighttoday and gave it 4 stars. I think it's a fitting ending to the series. I love Ash.
One Foot in the Grave - 9 Jun 12 - 3 starsThough I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it, this one didn't click with me. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but the last 150 pages became a bit of a chore for me to read. I won't be continuing the series, though I will give the spin-off series a try.
I finished Heist Society today, 6/14. I enjoyed it. Part mystery, part adventure- it held my interest the entire time. 4*
I read The Iron Daughter for The Iron Knight. I rated 3 stars. The Iron Daughter is slightly better than the first book. I definitely enjoyed reading it. Meghan is finally growing on me and I love Ash and I like Puck and absolutely love Grimm. The love triangle if you can called it that was weak and totally unbelievable. I just expected more from this book, I do believe the series is growing and getting better with each book and I hope the next installment is much better.
I'm not going to get to my selected book this round :( I'll probably start it before the timeline ends, but not finish it...
Karina wrote: "I read The Iron Daughter for The Iron Knight. I rated 3 stars. The Iron Daughter is slightly better than the first book. I definitely enjoyed reading it. Hope that helps in deciding whether you will continue with the series.
Yz the Whyz wrote: "Karina wrote: "I read The Iron Daughter for The Iron Knight. I rated 3 stars. The Iron Daughter is slightly better than the first book. I definitely enjoyed reading it. I am currently reading the Iron Queen - nit sure if I will finish in time though.
@ NicolaI think this is the correct order of the Iron Fey series:
The Iron King
Winter's Passage (novella)
The Iron Daughter
The Iron Queen
Summer's Crossing (novella)
The Iron Knight
Thanks Yz! I will have to go back to the beginning. I finished the Iron Queen - but was a day late. Sorry
I did get started on Halfway to the Grave but I've still got 1/3 left to read :( And this one doesn't count anyway...

I want to listen to about 3 of them, but I can't find the audio :( I'll just have to see how I go...
I finished Angelfall today 7/17. Wow, this was an intense, grossly graphic dystopian thrill ride. I've read so many rave reviews recently I bought it to see for myself. I don't particularly love UF so this was a little out of my comfort zone. I couldn't put it down though. 4*.If anyone would like to borrow it just let me know, I have it for kindle.

I just finished Angelfall, and Fran, you are so right. Wow! This book was a ride, both in action and emotions. Definitely 5 stars for me.I can't wait for the next book.

I'm glad you liked it Yz! I couldn't decide between 4 and 5 stars, I may end up changing my mind :)

I know how you feel. I was ready to rate it 4 stars, but the last chapters pushed it to 5 for me. Some very unexpected events and some intense emotions showed up that just hit the spot for me.
