Vi | 2794 comments Hmm, I might use this list to get back into BDB. I tried Lover Unbound but couldn't get into it. Time for second attempt then. Or I'll go for London's Perfect Scoundrel

message 353: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I will read The Graveyard Book.

Nicola | 649 comments I'm in for The Undomestic Goddess The Undomestic Godess by Sophie Kinsella

message 358: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Coleman (aliciacoleman) | 6 comments I will read Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward .

message 359: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I think I'll re-read The Graveyard book... just because I love it and this is just a good excuse to pick it up again :-D

message 360: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I finished The Undomestic Goddess the Undomestic Goddess the Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella I am giving it 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't laugh out loud funny like I usually find Kinsella's books to be. It was nice to see Kinsella create a character with more than fashion and shopping on her mind for a change.

message 361: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I rediscovered a link to Neil Gaiman's reading of The Graveyard Book and listened to that instead of reading the book again. If possible I enjoyed it even more when it was read to me by the author. I'll have to stick to my rating of 5 stars

I finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman today and it was a good Neil Gaiman read. I enjoyed the story but I felt like the plot halted halfway through the book and it took awhile for it to get going again. I still thought it was a good read though, 4 stars!

message 363: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Finished The Graveyard Book at 29.02. 4 stars.
Nice book, than can be read by people of any age.
It would probably get a bigger rating, but I liked first half much better than the second. I was not surprised when I read in 'Authors Note' at the end of the book that he wrote the second half a long time ago and then later added the first couple of chapters.

message 364: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I tried to read Lover Unbound for the challenge but I couldn't read more than 70-80 pages. I think I'm officially giving up on this series since this was my second attempt. And I'm skipping this list.

I finished City of Ashes (3/1) by Cassandra Clare for City of Fallen angels and am giving it 4*. I liked it more than first in series, don't know why - I still have some mixed feelings when it comes to this one. Perhaps it's because the characters grew on me more. Alec-Magnus connection keeps me wanting more and Jace is quite a great character, even though I don't like his mood swings and I'm still deciding what to think about Clary. :P But it was a quick read and an interesting one.

Joann | 973 comments So I have Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr , Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy #1) by Mira Grant and Abandon (Abandon Trilogy, #1) by Meg Cabot on my tbr, but I'm also knee deep (and loving it!) in the Night Huntress series. Decisions, decisions...

message 374: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Fran, would love to read the Wednesday Wars with you. :)

message 375: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished The Wednesday Wars today 3/22. I loved this book. I adored 7th grader Holling Hoodhood, and looking at life during the Vietnam War time period through his eyes and the narrow scope of his world was so well done. It's so hard to be 13, and living it through Holling's eyes made me smile and cry. 5* and a keeper. (a bonus that it's set on Long Island, where I grew up and still live. i knew almost every landmark, an unexpected treat)

message 376: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished Fragile Eternity yesterday for Wicked Lovely. It's pretty much an in-between book, leaving many things unanswered. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'm curious enough to continue because the main characters are starting to annoy me. 3 stars.

message 377: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments I finished Destined for an Early Grave for One Foot in the Grave yesterday and rated it 5 stars. Love this series!

message 378: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished The Wednesday Wars today 25 March. I loved this book. I didn't get certain stuff in the book. In spite of that, I totally enjoyed myself and couldn't put the book down at all. Holling as a 13 year old was well done and he narrates it so damn good. Lovely lovely book. I'm rating it 4 1/2 stars.

message 379: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) Just because I've never read it before, I just read The Tale of Peter Rabbit and gave it 3 stars. I have a little boy, so have read a lot of picture books, and this isn't one of those that I enjoyed even as an adult. It might be a classic, but I don't really like it

And no, that won't be the only thing I'll read for this, I'm currently making my way through The Wednesday Wars and enjoy it so far

message 380: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Yvonne, I totally forgot- I read The Tales of Peter Rabbit too for this list! Thanks for the reminder LOL!

I had never read it before (that I remember) and it was a free download for my kindle. I agree with you, not my favorite. Not really sure I get why it's a classic. Just ok. 3*
Read it on 3/14.

I think we had the same reasons... never read it and it was free, so nothing to lose.

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments I read All Together Dead***** and finished 3/27/12 this was the sookie Stackhouse book I was up to. It was really good I am so glad I finally read it. I give it five stars

message 384: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I finished The Wednesday Wars last night and gave it 4 stars. It's a very well written book - and leaves me with the desire to read more Shakespeare

message 385: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I just finished today Halfway to the Grave for 'One Foot in the Grave' by Jeanine Frost. 4 stars.
Not the best paranormal series out there, but I liked it enough to read the next part. I liked how feisty Cat is. :)

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments Since I finished Wolfsbane (Nightshade, #2) by Andrea Cremer already, I'll see if I can fit in Bloodrose (Nightshade, #3) by Andrea Cremer before the deadline.

message 387: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments Just finished Abandon (Abandon Trilogy, #1) by Meg Cabot I gave it a 3. I felt that this was more of a background book for the rest of the trilogy - or at least assume so.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments I just finished Bloodrose (Nightshade, #3) by Andrea Cremer I liked how this series ended! 4 stars

message 389: by Karina (new)

Karina | 95 comments I read At Grave's End for One foot in the Grave by Jeanine Frost. I rated it 3.5 stars. It was a good book and I continue to enjoy Bones and the secondary characters - Vlad especially, he cracked me up. I loved reading the tension between him and Bones, and I can't wait to read Mencheres' story. Cat, however, is still annoying to me, I'm also sick of Tate.

message 390: by Jen (new)

Jen Katzman (jenkatzman) | 2 comments I've read both Lover Eternal and London's Perfect Scoundrel and enjoyed them both. Lover Eternal was probably one of my top 3 of the BDB books, and London's Perfect Scoundrel was such a great 2nd book in Suzanne Enoch's Lessons in Love series. I first fell in love with her books after reading her novella in the Lady Whistledown books and never looked back. Definitely pick it up!

Fran | 12278 comments There are several I want to read on this list. My first choice is Wonder but I am third on the wait list at my library so not sure if it will come in in time.

I will probably end up reading Hound Dog True or A Long Way from Chicago

I will probably try Crossed - although I hear it is not as good as Matched, which I really enjoyed.
I am also going to listen to A Wrinkle in Time with my daughter as we drive to Ottawa for her gymnastics competition.

message 400: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Hound Dog True 4/19. I really liked this book. A story of a very shy 5th grader who is moved around constantly by her single mother and her struggle to fit in. They have moved in with her uncle, her new Elementary School's janitor, and some great life lessons are learned. A quiet, touching story.

I still want to read Wonder, if I get my hands on it before the end date of this challenge I'll be back to post it.
