Ooooh, I've been contemplating whether to buy this book or not. I like the first book but not exactly enjoying the second book (now I forgot for what reason).
Is it any good?

LOL I dont like the second book either! This one is pretty good, I'm just started but so far so good, not as boring and lengthy as the second book :D
I'm reading The Dragonbone Chair. I've had this book for a long time, and have tried to read it twice and always gave up in the middle. Trying again now as a book club read, hopefully I can finish this time.
Currently reading three historical fiction set in WW2, Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin,
All The Light We can not See by Anthony Doerr,
and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
These books are so hyped by people on GR, with very interesting premises, got me so thrilled because I've never touched this genre before. So far, the writings are sooo enchanting.
Since I got a very bad habit of starting a new book when I haven't finished the previous one, this time around, I have to finish them all instead of putting them down and forget they ever existed. :P
I'm now currently reading "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han. I'm not a huge fan of romance contemporary but this book has been hyped for so long in goodreads & booktube. The only romance I read was "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green & "Why We Broke Up" by Daniel Handler. But I'm excited to give this one a shot!
I have just finished
, it was fascinating and unexpectedly hilarious. Same here, currently I am reading
. It has been sitting on my book shelf for couple of months and I like contemporary novels as long as not the depressing ones, so I decided to give it a try.
Well, The Dragonbone Chair turned out to be an enjoyable read and now I'm on to the second book in the trilogy, Stone of Farewell.
I'm currently "PS I Still Love You" by Jenny Han.. I'm probably going to be making a book review on my youtube channel & book blog, which you all should check it out! One of my latest review is up now! http://the-daily-danny.tumblr.com/pos...
I'm reading "Jesus Is _____" by Judah Smith. I'm taking a quick break from reading fiction because they broke my heart at the end of the book T_T
Currently reading Footsteps by Pramoedya Ananta Toer (it's still weird to reading an English version of old Indonesian novel)
Currently reading Drums in Autumn, book 4 from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. So impressed with her world building, and shamelessly in love with her characters!
Two days ago just finished Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan. That's make twice. I know, I'm freak. If I love a book, might read it more than once. Now, just start to read Gabriel's Inferno (again!). It's probably the third times. Hihi.

Femmy wrote: "I'm on to To Green Angel Tower, Part 1 now :-) the third book in the trilogy"If you like that, you might like this trilogy too :
Shadowdale, Tantras, Waterdeep

Actually I prefer more recent fantasy like Robin Hobb or Peter V. Brett, but if I'm in the mood for more traditional fantasy (like when I picked up The Dragonbone Chair from my unread bookshelf), I'll keep this trilogy in mind. Thanks!

Oh, have you read Prince of Thorns?
I'm considering getting it but still unsure
@Adhika: if you like grimdark and post-apocalyptic fantasy then it should be right up your alley. I found it boring and uninteresting midway. I'd recommend City of Stairs (Divine Cities series) by Robert Jackson Bennet instead, or if you still want grimdark, try The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie or Glen Cook's The Black Company series.

Yes, I really like gritty hard fantasy ( e.g. Game of Thrones) and hard science fiction (e.g. The Expanse series). Thanks for reminding me about the Black Company. Been on the fence awhile on that one. Should get into it anytime soon :)
@Adhika, I've read Prince of Thorns and I think you'll like it since you mentioned you like gritty hard fantasy and hard science fiction. I liked that the main character is a villain and I found the voice compelling. There was a twist in the middle that I didn't like, though. I read the next two books in the trilogy on the strength of the writing, but I they weren't as good as the beginning of the whole story, so I haven't picked up anything else by the author.
Just finished reading Lorali
by Laura Dockrill and feeling disappointed. I might sulk for a little bit longer before I continue reading The Girl on the Train
by Paula Hawkins, which I paused in favor of buddy-reading Lorali. I've heard good things! And so far it's quite intriguing.
I finished Cinta tak pernah mati, for about a weeks and still confusing what will I read for next books. There are several choice : N.H Dini Dari Rue Saint Simon, More Bloody or Brave New World.
Just finished reading Just One Day and now on to Just One Year. Currently loving the plot, setting, even the characters!
I finished reading Crucible of Gold That's the 7th book of Temeraire Series. Next I WILL finish the 8th book (the last book) Blood of Tyrants. This is a loooong series and it's kinda dragging, but I also don't want to give it up.I love, Uprooted
tho! It's great! This book led me to the series above. Listed in Most Recent Reading a few days ago. Don't worry, this one is a stand alone book as far as I know.
Reena, Blood of Tyrant is not the last book of the Temeraire series, it's League of Dragons, coming out this year.
I recommend you to read novel Child 44. It is based on true story about serial killer in russia at uni soviet era. It has quite hard topic but with easy language tfo understand and very otentic and detailed setting about uni soviet
Yesterday I just finished The Land of Stories #1, The Wishing Spellhttps://d.gr-assets.com/books/1326920... . Sometime I feel like Im kinda old enough to read that fairytale-thingy again, hehe, but no matter how old you are, though read fairytale for a hundred times , the msg we got from the story kinda more deeper than before hehe.
And this book full of adventure. The story bout the twins (Alex and Connor) that travel through the book (The land of stories) and try to back to their real world. They need to collect things from every kingdom there, thats how their journey started.
I'm starting
today, Cormoran Strike's #2. After getting around to finishing
I am pretty pleased with how JK wrote the characters on #1, since i have to like and make sense of the characters first to start the reading sequence of book series, and I have good feeling with #2, see how things develop between the PI and his smart and lovely assistant, and whether the plot gets better-paced then the last one.
Adeline wrote: "@StormFront I watched the tv series haha does that count?"I watched it too, and it's a blasphemy for the novel. They should it made it like supernatural tv series's tone. Instead, they made it look like Disney Channel. Dresden Files Series it's the best Urban-Fantasy series that i ever read.
@stormfront oh that's too bad :(( should check out the novel then. I'm currently binge-reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, 5 months and 8 books already haha! Totally recommended!!
I have read the novel and I liked TV series much better. Dresden Files is just a bit better than Outlander which is so poorly written.
Currently reading I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The writings may not be that enchanting, but the story is nice. Though this is an autobiograph, which supposed to be boring but inspirational, but this guy knows how to give me a lot of good laughs.

I'll probably start listening to it after i finish this before i begin the latest book of the Expanse series.
Speaking of protagonist villains in fantasy, old classics like I, Strahd: The Memoirs of a Vampire and Knight of the Black Rose from the Ravenloft universe are also good.
