Btw, just finished Sabriel and Indonesian version of The Footprints of God. Now reading Indonesia version of Peter and the Starcatchers and will read Lirael after that :)
@Femmy wow, everybody said that it's awesome. I think I should read it first :o@Dewi do you wanna be my reading buddy? So, we can encourage each other >____<)b
Ameru wrote: "@Dewi do you wanna be my reading buddy? So, we can encourage each other >____<)b"Sure! :) But I still have many books to be read before The Lies of Locke Lamora, so probably I'll read it in 2 or 3 months from now.
Now reading..
i liked the beginning...but so far,nothing exciting...boringg.
The story is about a teenage girl that just discovered herself as an ANDROID. And now shes running to save her life...AND YET,it is boringggggg

Jumping into the bandwagon here! The Lies of Locke Lamora is also high on my to-read list. Let's compare notes once we're all through with it :)
At the moment, though, I'm still struggling to finish 1Q84. Not that the book is unexciting, it's just that I'm very discractable by nature. Hm.
@Dewi &Tiza: wohooo, okay then. When will we read it together? :DI find it hard to read. I don't know why. Well, I know. But, I want to give it a try >___<)b
Trying to explore Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar Saga, starting with
I'm honestly surprised that I haven't considered reading this only until now. Enjoying it very much ^ o ^ ~

I peeked a first few pages of it, and the style is indeed unusual isn't it? Anyway, still have some 300 pages of 1Q84 and dozens of distractions, in a week maybe? Will let you know as soon as I pick it up :)

epic. ^_^
Recently finished The Cabinet of Curiosities, great book! If you're into history, mystery, dark and confined space, old stuffs, and a bit supernatural thing, then this is your book.
I'm reading The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. Just read a couple of pages.. It's interesting.. I love the way it's written..
The Statistical Probability of Love at First SightI just read this book within 3 days....Well, it's basically a 1 day story of how a boy and girl can grow their feelings within 24 hour period. Interesting, and I dont know why but when I read, I shed tears. It's touching and the storyline is exciting. Reconciliation, hurts, rekindled love and of course, love at first sight. Not so fairytale like, to me it is more down-to-earth story, even though the coincidences can be a lil like a cupid working through them=p
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the WorldI'm reading this book since a week a go..slow progress in reading it. But i love the story!
Men at arms (city watch - discworld - terry pratchett) and Well of ascension (mistborn - brandon sanderson) are very good. :)
Finish reading
, there's a scene that remind me of American's Psycho (rat inside human body), make me gag!Now into

This morning I was tempted to take a leave and stay at home to finish it :D
I finished David Levithan's The Lover's Dictionary the other day and it's so good! It's very short, very simple, but I can relate to it on so many levels. Very nicely written as well; so many great moments.
I'm starting Stolen by Lucy Christopher. Stockholm syndrom issue involved; should be interesting. (:
Oh, Stolen is such a wonderful read! It's one of those books that linger in your mind long after you've read it. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
@Rachel,You're right, Stolen is a wonderful book! I finished it this morning and now still in awe :')
I'm about to start reading Einstein: His Life and Universe. Mine is the translated version though, does it not count as an english book? It's hard to find a good science book, and Periplus only has a few. I found this translated version in Togamas and even though I prefer the original this was better than nothing at all
I just finished My Friend Michael: Growing Up With The King Of Pop .Such a moving memoar yet smoothly written. I like it a lot
@Anny, I like reading books on science, too. The last one I read was Fermat's Enigma, which I bought from The Book Depository. I agree that Perplus's selection is quite small, but I just recently visited their online store and saw that it's much user-friendly now than the last time I went there. Maybe you can find some there.
@Femmy, oh I read that one too. It was a good one but I pretty much forgot soon after *laughs*I love to read good science/math books but it seems my brain is incapable of storing all those wisdoms in those hundreds of pages
I don't really trust online store. My brother ordered some books from BookDepository and one did not arrive. He forgot to claim it too so we pretty much lost that one.
Yeah, I know what you mean. A small feeling of dread always lurks whenever I order from them, and it gets larger with each passing week the book doesn't arrive. I'm fortunate that none of my books has been lost in the mail as they do arrive eventually, but there's always that risk. But so far they have the lowest prices for the paperback books that I want to buy (Kinokuniya's and OpenTrolley's prices are not even close), so I'll keep buying from them until I find another alternative.
That's true. It's still cheaper to buy from BookDepository compared to Amazon even if one of them is not delivered *laughs*Guess that shows how much profit Amazon is reaping from their delivery fees
I just read a fantasy short story The Viscount and the Witch by Michael J. Sullivan and it was hilarious! It was free on Kobo (you can download it from his website, too). I really recommend it to any fantasy fan.I compared the price of his novel Theft of Swords and got these numbers: US$12.42 on The Book Depository, Rp158.000 on Periplus, Rp189.000 on OpenTrolley.
Hmmm 12.42 (ard 122rb) but wait for two to three weeks, compared to 158rb books on hand ... tough decisionI'm thinking of reading Prince of Thorns but I'd rather wait for more installment to be released. My patience is really short when it comes to books :D
Well, Periplus Online has to import the book first, at least for this particular book (it says "Usually takes 12-20 business days to import and 48 hours to dispatch"), so the delivery time is comparable to Book Depository. However, Periplus provides order tracking, so your book won't get lost.
I emailed Michael Sullivan, asking about his books' availability on Kobo and he replied in just a couple of hours. What a responsive author.
Currently reading 2 books: The War of The Worlds by H.G. Wells (yup.. it's a classic one) and Breakfast With Socrates by Robert Rowland Smith.
@Mbak Femmy: I dunno with Indonesian authors, but authors from other countries are usually very fast in replying emails. A long, long while ago I exchanged e-mails with the author of An Introduction to English Slang, Dr. Elisa Mattiello, for my thesis, and she always replied within 1-2 days. I thought because she'd be busy (she teaches) she wouldn't really be too helpful. Contrary to my initial belief, she helped me with the analysis of some of the data present in my thesis. She even had her book available for download for free, coincidentally while I was doing my thesis. God knew I needed that freebie. LOL.
I usually contact authors during my translation of their books and yes, in general they are very helpful. Yesterday, however, was the first time I contacted an author as a reader and I thought that my reader email would be only one among many and didn't expect to get a reply so soon, so I was surprised when it came as quickly as it did.
