Ask for suggestions to add to your 'to read list.' Specify a genre you'd like to try. Describe things your interested in reading. What are a couple of books have you liked, what is one you've weren't able to read?

Then look over what others post, and email - through Goodreads - some suggestions to at least three people.

I'm looking for something historical. I don't read much historical fiction, and I'd like to try that next. I tend to prefer male characters, but loved The Hunger Games, so can manage female characters if the book is good. I really don't like Gossip Girl's books, so strong plot is more important than relationships between characters. I'd prefer any excellent book.

Sabrina Nierras | 4 comments I like reading books that are a mix of action and romance. Books like the The Hunger Games, that from start to finish will get you hooked. I don't read books that are on ranks of Harry Potter. But I like historical fiction.

Savannahc | 4 comments I'm looking for a book with a good theme. A book that will make me think and think deeply. I agree with Mr. Debarger on the "gossip girl" books, they are pretty much dry and predictable. I want to find a book that makes me ponder and may even change the way i think.

message 5: by Andria (new)

Andria | 3 comments I like books that are interesting. I will read just about anything as long as its interesting. The only type of books that I'm not into are books that have to do with sports. I just don't have that much of an attention span for books that have to do with sports. Maybe if it was really interesting, I could handle it. Actually, I have never read a sports book but it just does'nt catch my attention as much as other books.

message 6: by Maryn (new)

Maryn Robinson | 5 comments I'm looking for something suspenseful. I like books with lots of action but a good story behind it. I like both male and female characters, but I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so i prefer when there are both male and female leads. I don't like girly books, and I prefer a strong plot rather than a book about high school girls. I'd really like a great book to read.

Bryce | 5 comments Im looking for an action or horror book.I really liked the The Hunger Gamesand any Dean Koontzbooks. I read all the hunger games books and they are the only books that I could sit down and read in one night.I really hate love books that nothing happens. I need action to keep me into the book otherwise im just not going to read at all.

Jaycob whinery | 3 comments I enjoy reading action and plot driven books. I also enjoy books written in the form of "grit lit" because its very down to earth and seems more closely related to me.

message 9: by Fernando (new)

Fernando Garcia | 3 comments I am currently reading a book that has to deal with a boy in the foster care system so I guess I like non-fiction books. I like to read about people and how they resolve their problems.

message 10: by Alex (new)

Alex Young (AlexYoung) | 1 comments I like to read books that are mostly mirrors for me. So I like the High School jock books mostly. Like "Carter Finally Gets It" just a funny high school jock at the main character. I also enjoy mysteries. Like as of right now i am reading "Reality Check" which has a high school jock as the main character and is also a mystery. Great Book. Any more suggestions?

message 11: by Austin (new)

Austin Keathley | 4 comments I'm looking for a thriller or mystery book. I'm currently reading "Forever Odd". Any suggestions?

message 12: by Jessie (new)

Jessie W. | 4 comments I'm looking for something that keeps me interested because I can get bored with books pretty easily. I've read a lot of Ellen Hopkins books and really liked them, but I'm looking for something new. I usually read books about troubled teenagers around my age because they are easier to relate to. I have also read Living Dead Girl and really liked it. I usually don't like books that move slowly, so I'd prefer a book that has a lot going on in it and has a strong plot.

message 13: by ruelas (new)

ruelas | 4 comments I am looking for something that a can relate to, I enjoy reading Ellen Hopkins. I am currently reading Tricks. I enjoy reading about male characters. Because I can relate to them a little more then a female character. Feel free to recomend books for me to read. Maybe ill get back to you. If your lucky.

message 14: by Madisen (new)

Madisen | 3 comments The kind of books I enjoy are fast mvoing, high energy, plot based. A book that has action in it. Not speed racer action, like intense situation action. I dont enjoy sissy winer mary sob stories such as love and relationships. Crude, down to earth, simplistic, and real books keep me interested.
Sequals to a good book suit me. I already know how the author writes and expresses characters.

message 15: by Tielynn (new)

Tielynn Scott | 3 comments I'm really not looking for any types of book, i have found the ones i have really been interested in, I have been interested in the Ellen Hopkins books, I em reading Burned, great book, everyone should reed it if you have not all ready. (:

Jessica Torres | 3 comments I like reading books that contain action and thrill, with a little bit of romance. Most books that I have read are about murders and people hooked on drugs but between all that theres some romance in it which I like. I like books that are fast and easy to read, I am curently reading Roses Are Red its a good book and everything but it kinda confused me and its going really slow now, in the beginning the book had lots of details and everything was understandable but now its not, and it lost my attention.

message 17: by Maria (new)

Maria | 3 comments I'm looking for a a book that has really strong plot, intsead of focusing more on character interaction. I would like a book that preferably has a main female character. I absoultely loved The Hunger Games, and I would enjoy a book just like it. I also really liked many of the Ellen Hopkins books, like Crank, Burned, and Glass. Although those books focused more on interaction with all the characters, I found it really interesting. Everything from being addicted to drugs, and finding someone to love, intrests me. Its not easy for me to find books or authors I like, but I hope I find something interesting to read.

message 18: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Johnson | 2 comments I want to read a B.A. book like The Rule of the Bone. I also enjoyed The Hunger Games series and a few funny books like I Love You Beth Cooper, All The Way, and Carter Finally Gets It. I hate girly books about girly crap. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR MAKE-UP!

message 19: by Celina (new)

Celina | 2 comments I'm looking for a book that has alot of action. The kind of books I normally read are fictional books that have action an are full of non-real creatures. The books I normally like are books about teenagers just trying to get through high school but have many different problems then most. I don't have a preferance if the main character is a guy or a girl. A current book that I'm reading that fits the kind of books I normally read is Ninth Grade Slays (The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, #2) by Heather Brewer by Heather Brewer. I can read chick flick books but I prefer not to, and I like alot of action in my books. I also like books that are addictive, i guess you could call it. Books with alot of suspence in them and that keep you on your toes and keeps you guessing are always the best.

message 20: by Josh (new)

Josh Hodges | 2 comments Im looking for some good fantisy that are perferably in a series. Im looking for books like this because i have read all the other series by great authors like Mercedes Lackey.

message 21: by Lanae (new)

Lanae Walker | 3 comments I'm currently reading a book that a girl named Janie, gets sucked into people's dreams when they fall asleep. I like to read fiction books because I like to put myself in their shoes and see what they experience. Sometimes I put other people as characters and have them in the story so that i can picture it in a whole different way.

Justin Henninger | 2 comments I am intrested in books about drugs becauseI can relate because my best freind has been addicted to heroin, cocain and an alchoholic so it feels lik I know what the other characters in the book are feelng i enjoyed amillion little peices and im enjoying crank so far. I also like war books because all of them just seem intresting to me

message 23: by Denys (new)

Denys Magana | 3 comments I am looking for a book that is something like me. Something that I am able to enjoy like the one I am reading now, A Bad Boy Can Be Good for a Girl by Tanya Lee Stone. I dont really like books that have too much drama.

message 24: by Joseph (last edited Oct 26, 2010 08:16PM) (new)

Joseph Hartsfield (jwhh) | 3 comments I, myself like to read books about the future, survival skills, and other concepts. I like books like Ender's Game and Infernothey where the ones that really stuck to me the most. Alas I like to read books that I can deeply think to myself after I'm done reading the book.

message 25: by Tonykillebrew (new)

Tonykillebrew | 2 comments I like reading books that have adventure and when the charecter changes through out the book[s]. If I get into a book I can put myself into the book and I will get into the book. It is hard for me to find a book I like because I can't find books that are adventure and the charecture changes some.

message 26: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 4 comments I normally like to read fast paced books that get you hooked right from the start and focus on the plot or characters like hunger games. Although I just finished “1984” which was kind of a slow paced book and it was much more theme based than plot or character based but it managed to keep me interested because the theme was so radically different from the world we live in. So I can handle books that are slow and that don’t focus on the character or plot but one book that just bored me to death was “hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” because it was just so incredibly stupid even though it was fast paced

message 27: by Chris (new)

Chris Mejia (chicle) | 3 comments I im looking for a book that involves a reality check such as It's Kind of a Funny Story more of a person needs to get out of a situation which he or she was drawn to and try to resolve out of it in salvation and some military books also i dont mind.

message 28: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (_Jess) | 2 comments I like reading books that are realistic! I freak for books that i can relate to or simply keep me at my feet wanting to know more. My all time favorite book by far would have to be Lady Q, loved it!

message 29: by Malorie (new)

Malorie | 3 comments I cannot say what type of book im looking for at the moment. I read literally anything. Throw out any suggestions and I'll read them. I dont really have any sort of prefrence as to the context of the book, how long it is, or who the main character(s) are. I tend to read a lot of Steven King and I absolutely love Jane Austins books. difficulty doesnt bother me :) i love books that challenge me intellectually
