I got the chicken pox well before the vaccination was made available in the US.

Was anyone deliberately exposed to "get it over with" or so all kids in the family would go through it at once?

I got chicken pox on my 10th birthday. I was going to see the re-release of ET, but instead stayed home and cried.

They released ET in 1982 and then re-released it in 1984.

I thought hamsters were more durable than that. How long was he out there?

edit: Maybe they didn't re-release it in Portland.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia. It was actually re-released in 1985, so it would have been my eleventh birthday.
