What is distracting you from your Chunkster right now? (a.k.a. what else are you reading?)

i do listen to books on tape while driving and I can actually read on my Nook while I am working out if I am alone. Lately, Ive been dragging a friend with me and we talk while working out and I love that too.

That's totally true. I usually have a slump once per year...just nothing looks good when I go to pick a book, that's when I know I need a break and switch over to knitting.

My chunkster right now distracting me from other chunksters is House of Leavesand another chunkster A Game of Thronesand my YA book Tempest. I downloaded your current chunkster classic to my kindle, and I am hoping to catch up!

Just got T.S. Eliot's Essays Ancient and Modern on interlibrary loan, started it this afternoon. Some really good stuff in it. I hadn't been familiar with Eliot's prose writing, but he's very good.

I'm about half-way through Don Quixote and then I've been distracted by some shiny books from the library and a book club read.

I have a book and a half to go before I dig into Jonathan Strange. I'm going to hit it hard so as to catch up. Then, after I finish DQ, I intend to start Brothers K.

I had to stop on this groups BK read. I was just trying to read too many things at once, and I was also feeling in the mood for something lighter. I decided to read Inkheart because my young cousin wanted to read them, and I thought it would be fun to talk about with her.

I am going through the same thing Andrea. Minus the gym. At least you have that to say for yourself! LOL... I am just starting to read more now so hopefully I will get back to Middlemarch soon.

I went away for a few days and didn't want to lug the chunkster and my ebook version at the Iibrary had expired and so came back with a ton of other current reads. I am now distracted from my chunkster (Jonathan Strange) but plan to get back by the end of the month and catch up to everyone.

Tasha, we'll probably be starting at the same time. I'll be finishing both Don Quixote and Cannery Row this week. Then, I'm finally, finally, finally off to read Jonathan Strange.

I've just picked up Inferno by Dante Alighieri and it's sucked me in! I was surprised at how much i'm enjoying reading it. I've also got about 20 other books that I'm pecking at...but nothing is really holding my attention.

I am SO far behind on Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell! I need to just spend a day catching up so I can comment on the threads!

I've been away for so long and I wish I could say I have been reading up a storm but I have been barely reading at all. I have been listening to some books on tape and now and then I read a chapter of Middlemarch and I'm so time invested in this book that I can't not finish...hahaha

I've had a lot going on at work and getting here in spare time has been challenging. I'm so sorry that I have been so inactive!

I had decided to sit out on The Brothers Karamazov because I've been trying to work through A Clash of Kings, but then ended up dropping Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. So, I'm sad and chunksterless! Looking forward to the next round of voting. Maybe I can finish the GRRM by then. :)

In the meantime, I've been reading some old pre-Stephen King horror stuff. I just finished The Other and recently started I Am Legend. Kind of fun to knock off some things that have been on my shelf for a long time.

I'm making the most of the time when I am not reading a Chunkster with this group to catch up on some other reads.

So far I've read The Lord of the Rings which I loved, Salt & Honey, Perfect People, Night Waking and I'm currently reading Frankenstein. I had forgotten how much fun it is to read a short book in a couple of days but now I'm itching to get stuck in and looking forward to getting involved in the next group reads here

Andrea, I too am not reading as much as usual and yet still plugging away at Middlemarch. I have confidence we will finish it...someday :-)

I'm so behind on Jonathan Strange too! I just finished a couple of shorties, The Crying of Lot 49 and Exercises in Style. Now I'm working on The Blind Assassin.

Shea, I have been reading 15 pages of Middle march a night so I am making some prgress now. I think I am almost 75% done!

I am still working on the first section of the Brothers Karamazov. I got Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell from the library but I'm it's just sitting on my night stand looking very BIG at the moment.

I'm listening to a good Sandra Brown book on CD - Chill Factor. I'm also reading a Discovery of Witches, that is very Twilightish to me but entertaining all the same. Lastly I have a good of health and nutrition books going.

Me, too! I had no desire to read Brothers Karamazov and could not get into Jonathan Strange. So I've read Wild (the latest Oprah book) and English Creek, by Ivan Doig, one of my favorite authors evah. I'm now reading The Art of Fielding, which I highly recommend.

Looking forward hopefully to the next round of chunkster choices!

Thank you Thank you Thank you to both of you.... I am also still plugging away at it. Haven't made much of a dent but am over half way. Maybe I will finish by the end of the summer. I like the idea of reading 15 pages a day.... at least it's some progress.

I know this was a long time ago, but I just joined the group and have been reading Les Mis for a while. Part of me doesn't want to finish it because then it will be over and I'm seriously obsessed with it, but I also think it's rather dense. It's difficult to read, but once I finish a section and think about what happened during it and play the scene more clearly in my mind, it is amazing! Hearing the songs from the musical in my head as I read just adds that much more to an already amazing book.

My current distractions are life (work, soccer, school activities, friends in need) and mindless books that do not requires any great attention or time to read. I miss this group and REALLY hope to get back into a chunkster soon! Soccer season ends at the end of this month so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks! The move went well, but the new home projects are endless. I hated to bail on Lonesome Dove because I've wanted to read it for ages, but I'm so far behind. I've set it aside for now, but hope everyone is enjoying it!

I too just finished "Fifty Shades of Grey." I think it is somewhere between candy and trash. It would definitely be a Necco wafer/conversation heart as opposed to Godiva chocolate.

I started reading it but got too bored, and I was only reading it to see what the fuss was about. But I've read plenty of awful books and enjoyed them because they were right for me at the right time :D (cough among these are the Twilight series and Magic's Pawn by Mercedes Lackey)
