we're just doing the two of us because we wanted to add a bit of a "challenge" for ourselves when we went on our road trip. (had to buy a red book at the first store, orange at the second, etc) It was a lot of fun!

You should read all of them this year. :) Make it a 2 part challenge hehe. (I'm evil. I know.)

Heidi I wrote: "Let me know about Warrior Heir. I have the audiobook in my wishlist on netlibrary."

I read the "Heir" series. My fave was the "Warrior Heir" though. Interesting concept.

Catherine wrote: "I just got these from the library. Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink, Masquerade by Melissa de la Cruz, [book:Beautiful Creatures..."

Loved the "Blue Blood" series and "Beautiful Creatures" series. Haven't read others on your list. Love the vampire concept of "Blue Bloods". Very interesting, made me interested in fallen angels and started to read books on that subject.

message 406: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Despite the fact that I haven't even got through half of my last library haul, I got these today:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett The Dark Divine (The Dark Divine, #1) by Bree Despain The Secret Hour (Midnighters, #1) by Scott Westerfeld

I'm quite excited about The Help; I've been on the waiting list at the library for ages :)

Also, these arrived from Amazon:

Jealousy (Strange Angels, #3) by Lilith Saintcrow Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier

A good day, all in all!

message 407: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay for the Help! Loved it on audio, but it is great either way :)

message 408: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Yay for Daughter of the Forest! One of my very favorite books.

message 409: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Yay indeed guys! I'm really looking forward to both of those; I confess I bounced around my room like a small child when they arrived.. :D

Plus I won from firstreads Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison and I just asked for an ARC - and got it - of The Girl Who Was on Fire Your Favorite Authors on Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games Trilogy by Leah Wilson which has really made my day.

Hahaha! Becca I got Daughter of the Forest at the library as well last weekend, but am waiting until later in the month to start it. I'll let you know what I think.

Awesome! Just so you both know, it starts as a fairytale retelling sort of, and you'll find the storyline a little familiar if you know fairytales at all, but it goes far beyond that later. It's simply an awesome story and the herione is one of the strongest female characters I've ever read.

message 417: by Stormi (StormReads) (last edited Jan 16, 2011 10:45AM) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Books that just came in the mail!

Loved crescendo aswell..liked it better than hush hush aswell!

message 421: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka A friend loaned me Looking for Alaska and bought me The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Time Machine, and The Invisible Man. That adds to the pile of books I have to read, no need to spend money for some weeks, ha XD

message 422: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have Looking for Alaska too. It's on my bookshelf.

message 423: by Katie (new)

Katie Russell | 16 comments I haven't been on this group for a while but I just finished Finnikin of the Rockwhich I loved. I also since the start of the year have read Rebecca,The Necromancer and Belle: A Retelling of "Beauty and the Beast". So I have been doing a lot of YA reading lately.

message 424: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning , Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning , Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning , Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning ....that's so funny, Wendy - so, I won the fourth book and figured that figured "what a good time to jump on the wagon" and, so I did...to find out the fifth book is coming out, like, tomorrow. I'm loving the series so far!!!

message 425: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I got all 4 of them too, jumping on the band wagon with you. I've only got about 50 pages left in Darkfever.

message 426: by Tracy T. (new)

Tracy T. I got Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking To Kill a Warlock (Dulcie O'Neil, #1) by H.P. Mallory from Kindlelendingclub.com

I'll be picking up Under the Jolly Roger Being an Account of the Further Nautical Adventures of Jacky Faber (Bloody Jack, #3) by L.A. Meyer Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta from the library on Friday.

message 427: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have Saving Francesca too, but I'm trying to hold out on reading it until closer to when The Pipers Son is coming out.

Melina Marchetta did a spin-off sequel to Saving Francesca, and she's doing a spin-off sequel to Finnikin... it makes me wonder what the odds are of her doing something similar for Jellicoe Road?

message 428: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wendy if you want to read Francesca now you should be fine because from what I read there is not a lot to remember from Francesca in Piper's Son. I hope that is right anyway, because I already read it!

message 429: by Gwennie (last edited Jan 20, 2011 11:21AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Oh, I definitely won't be waiting until March. I have alot on my list right now that I need to read, so I'm not rushing to read it yet.

I'm in the middle of the Fever series, I am going to reread the Clan of the Cave Bear books before March, the BDB books slowly before March. March is the new releases for those series.

On top of that I have Bloody Jack 1, the Bartemaeus Tril, Graceling, Everlost and sequel, Enders Game, 2 In Death's, Looking for Alaska, The Only Alien Left on the Planet. Crave and Covet... among countless others. I'm drowning in books to read. That's not even just my to read list. Those are books that I've already compulsively purchased and are sitting on my bookshelf!

It's an illness I tell ya!

message 430: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ha! Sounds like my tbr pile - never ending :)

message 431: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I agree, but lately I feel a bit overwhelmed. I finish a book and stand at my shelf and between my Kindle and my bookshelf I've got so much to read I just never know what to pick up.

Plus I've got people who've read books I've recommended, who in return loaned me books to read that are waiting patiently.

message 432: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla | 30 comments I have just check out Spell Hunter (Faery Rebels, #1) by R.J. Anderson or as my copy is called 'Knife'. Never read a fantasy book like this before based on Faeries, looking forward to reading it.

message 433: by Stormi (StormReads) (last edited Jan 20, 2011 01:20PM) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I thought Spell Hunter (Faery Rebels, #1) by R.J. Anderson was a decent Middle Grade read.

message 434: by BirdiesBookshelves (last edited Jan 20, 2011 03:24PM) (new)

BirdiesBookshelves I just ordered Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand , Across the Universe by Beth Revis , and Incarceron (Incarceron, #1) by Catherine Fisher . I cannot wait to read them!!! :)

Wendy when I first started in all my GR groups I felt so overwhelmed because before GR I normally just picked out books that looked good at the library (or through word of mouth). There were so many more opinions given to me on GR that my tbr pile was nuts! It has died down a lot since last year, so that has helped ease my mind. I am task driven so having a large tbr pile is not a good thing for me because I will obsess over it!

message 437: by Megan (new)

Megan (megg_reads) | 34 comments Just ordered Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning from Barnes & Noble for $3.99 (hardback).

I havent started this series yet, but for that cheap, I couldnt resist!

That's where I am now, obsessing over it. In a good way though. I'd rather have too much to read then too little.

message 439: by Lizzie (last edited Jan 21, 2011 10:48AM) (new)

Lizzie (lizzie_of_oz) | 2 comments I just ordered Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma , Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott , Looking for Alaska by John Green and The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson . SO excited for them to get here!!

message 440: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) For my Kindle I ordered Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce , Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins , and I preordered The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) by Julie Kagawa .

I've only thought the first of the Iron Fey books were 2.5 star readers, but once I start a series I generally try to finish it. I have to feel pretty unaffected by a book to not keep reading the series. Plus, I love Puck, haha.

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I purchased a couple of kindle books since they were 99 cents. Werelove by Lakisha Spletzer Immortal by Lauren Burd Recieved in the mail to review How to Woo a Reluctant Lady (Hellions of Halstead Hall, #3) by Sabrina Jeffries Stars Collide by Janice Thompson

message 442: by Traci (new)

Traci ouuuu my copy of Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning finally came in the mail today. Man that thing is HUGE! I'm very excited but I have to finish this Vampire Academy book first...

message 443: by Traci (new)

Traci hahaha I only had about a quarter left! I'm starting it today :D

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) In the mail today from Candlewick Press I got: How to be a Werewolf by Serena Valentino The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo The Visconti House by Elsbeth Edgar

message 445: by Jen (new)

Jen Halligan (bookandlatte) | 44 comments I just hit the library YA jackpot today! I'm so, so excited to read all these books!! I'm not even sure where to start, these have been on my list for so long.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver , Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater , Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta , Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead

I need to finish Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4) by Richelle Mead and Good in Bed (Cannie Shapiro, #1) by Jennifer Weiner before I dig in...

YAYYYYYYYY! I will be reading the rest of the weekend. How am I going to be able to focus on work next week with this stack waiting for me?

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I just got an armload of books from my local library and ILL today, they all came in at the same time. I'll have to have a 2 week reading fest to get them all in.
Crash into Me by Albert Borris A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride Hold Still by Nina LaCour and The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan

message 449: by Arphaxad (last edited Jan 24, 2011 09:32AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Yay for The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan , that book should get way more attention.

My copy has a slightly creepier cover The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan ...which is actually kind of misleading! Hah.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Today at the library I picked up
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare
Going Bovine by Libba Bray and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

and the librarian was kind enough to tell me that Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta and Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward are on their way.

I know City of Bones got a LOT of mixed reviews. I'm going to give it a go and see how I like it. It seems to be one of those series that you either love or hate. I'm excited about the other 2 I got. Going Bovine was the 2010 Printz Award winner (same award Jellicoe Road got in 2009). I haven't read anything by Libby Bray yet.

Oh... I also started Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen today on audio. I've recently started commuting again for school so I have an hour each way 2 days/wk to listen away, especially since all my podcasts seem to have switched to a monthly format. I'm not really into circus stuff, but the narrators are great, and I'm also only 3 hours in. I've got a ways to go.
