Danielle (Love at First Page) Melina really is brilliant. Her writing, her characters, her *men*... so perfect.

Karen’s Library I'm about to buy Son Son (The Giver, #4) by Lois Lowry on my Nook which is the newest and last book of The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry series. Looks so good! This one ties all 4 books together! Yay! Loved these!

Love them all - Tom especially!

Danielle (Love at First Page) I love Tom also! Saving June's hero is very similar to him; I definitely recommend it! Any other recs for Tom-like characters (with some romance)? :)

I thought Where She Went Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) by Gayle Forman was kind of similar

Danielle (Love at First Page) I plan on reading that series next! :) Kinda nervous because I expect the first to end on a sad note :P

I liked If I Stay but I LOVED Where she Went -- they were both kind of sad I guess but not so depressing that I couldn't move like Melina's books or A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

I'm so excited for you to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone!!! It's so amazing, you're gonna love it! And UNWIND!!! I know I've been pestering you to read that book for a while now. It's gonna blow your mind. I can't wait to hear what you think of it :)

message 2217: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I was not as into DOSB as some others. I liked Unwind though. I think it is because I like dystopian more than fantasy.

I love when you pester me in to reading awesome books Bethany! I'm trying to decide what order to read them in. I have a group read for Under the Never Sky but it probably doesn't really matter because I'll finish them in like 3 days each lol :) The only reason Rebel Heart is taking me so long is that my wife is using my Kindle to do a second beta read of The Sun Dwellers for me lol!!

Dystopian's my favorite so I know I'll love Unwind but I'm a pretty huge fantasy fan too so I think DoSB will be awesome for me too ;)

BitterBlue is Such a great book. I take it you've already read the first two?

message 2221: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I feel like a Negative Nancy but Bitterblue disappointed me compared to Graceling (loved) and Fire (liked a lot). It is still a great read though!

Yep, read the first two!! Graceling was Amazing, Fire had too much backstory for me in the beginning but ended really strongly. Looking forward to Bitterblue!!

message 2232: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rachelgabriel) | 1 comments I've got two John Green books An Abundance of Katherines by John Green and Paper Towns by John Green I am a few chapters into each (Yes, I read several books at a time) and I always, always marvel at the author's style of writing. They're both great. I also got Terry Pratchett's The Wee Free Men The Beginning (Tiffany Aching #1-2) by Terry Pratchett . THEN, I was also excited to find a great copy of Eva Ibbotson's Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson at a used bookstore for a very good price. Pretty proud of myself. Now the problem is to stop from hoarding another batch of books before I finish this batch. :)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 99 comments I'm up to 42% and as I'm reading there's constantly this lump in my throat and every time I laugh at something (which is frequent) I almost cry too. It's only inevitable that the tears will pour out eventually. Wonderfully moving writing by Mr Green

message 2236: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rjung) I listened to this book on CD while driving and almost swerved off the road numerous times...it's amazing...but any John Green title is a worthy investment! The Fault in Our Stars great readalike = Jenny Downham's Before I Die...hilarious, poignant, deeply moving, beautiful.

Lloyd | 415 comments I happened to be on Amazon last night and picked up these books. The Moon Dwellers (The Dwellers, #1) by David Estes The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers, #2) by David Estes The Sun Dwellers (The Dwellers #3) by David Estes

I've read good comments from everyone and the author seems like a nice, genuine guy.

Plus the 99 cent price tag is great for my holiday budget!

Now I just need to finish the book I'm reading now ( Sandstorm (Sigma Force, #1) by James Rollins ) and then find more ever elusive time. :)

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) I've been really making a point to find and support YA books featuring lead characters of color and or GLBTQ youth. That should be a goal for all readers because the world is increasingly diverse and well, this next generation isn't accepting of the status quo. Not to mention, there are some amazing books seriously being overlooked.

I just grabbed Red Madrassa (Algardis, #1) by Terah Edun , and I'm totally salivating over Fading Amber by Jaime Reed , Pitch (Farsighted, #3) by Emlyn Chand and Demon Eyes (Witch Eyes, #2) by Scott Tracey .

Though they're not YA, these two books
Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone and Daughter of the Sword (Fated Blades, #1) by Steve Bein were awesome reads!

message 2245: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (shgmclicious) I love how they actually have people of color on the covers, too!

I went on a bookstore pilgrimage for used and remainder titles on Saturday and got Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld , Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson , A Separate Peace by John Knowles , The Elements of Cooking by Michael Ruhlman , and The Nasty Bits Collected Varietal Cuts, Usable Trim, Scraps, and Bones by Anthony Bourdain . It's a weird bunch haha

Barb (barblibrarian1) Just finished Pod by Stephen Wallenfels byStephen Wallenfels.
Our library put it in the adult SciFi area. I would definitely put it in YA. Good, fast-paced read. Alien invasion told from the perspective of a 15 year old boy, and a 12 year old girl. I anticipate a sequel.
