Jim | 6484 comments We have very few restrictions in Wisconsin, so I can say you hands down beat us for ridiculousness.

Big-government conservatives on the rampage.

How do Utahns like being treated like children? Do these laws enjoy widespread support?

message 203: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) People follow like sheep in Utah. They've been obeying patriarchs blindly for almost 200 years.

Why can't people see the cans being opened? Is Jesus hidden in the mystery of the pop top?

message 205: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Just because, Sally. We shouldn't ever ask why. We should just believe.

I wonder if the law will be enforced. I guess restaurant inspectors will do spot checks, and fines will be levied? Gosh, in a time of scarce resources and probably layoffs of state employees, it seems kind of dumb to have inspectors looking to see where a can of beer is being opened. Seems like they should be looking for roaches and mice instead.

In other beer news, I drank one and a half cans of Coors and then became painfully thirsty. It was not good.

message 208: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) They've been enforcing strange alcohol laws in Utah for many years.

So how many did you drink until your thirst was gone?

Jammies At 216 posts, isn't this the beer thread now?

I lack beer.

message 215: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I don't lack it at all. I think it tastes bad.

And since when do you speak with that accent, LG?

Hey Jim don't they serve beer in hospital delivery rooms in Wisconsin--to the mom (hands a beer) and to the wee baby (hands beer in a baby bottle.)

message 220: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I bought a case of Sam Adams Octoberfest at Costco a couple of weeks ago. It's about half gone. I may work on making more of it gone today.

message 221: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lucky for you to be near a Costco. I've got a Sam's Club, but it isn't as cool. They do have a pretty good wine selection though.
P.S. When did you change your name? I missed it.

message 222: by Karen K. (new)

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 140 comments I don't like beer. Never acquired a taste for it. I used to drink wine or Mike's Hard Lemonade. I can't drink alcohol any more because of the migraine medications I take. Oh well, them's the breaks.

That beer was for the mom? :-)

Here was this weekends new beer, I could pass on it again.

message 224: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've been shipwrecked before.

message 225: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Tell me about it, Felix.

message 226: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments ::never go boating with Felix and Cynthia::

message 227: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I haven't been shipwrecked LITERALLY, Jim. It's a metaphor, at least in my case. Not sure about Mr. Felix.

message 228: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I think I knew that Cynthia :-)

message 229: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Mr. Jim knows pretty much everything.

message 230: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Did I mention my brother's gold medal for his beer? :D

message 231: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) A gold medal is a big deal. Yay Jammies's brother.

message 232: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) What category?

message 233: by Jammies (new)

Jammies American-style Amber Lager.

message 234: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Next time I go to the Big D I'll look for it.

message 235: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I'll hold you to that!

Ohioans are going nuts for Yuengling beer: http://www.ohio.com/news/local/yuengl...

message 238: by Sarah (last edited Oct 24, 2011 08:39AM) (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Jammies, do they know that Yeungling doesn't actually taste that good? OK, better than a lot of beers...

I had the Blue Point Pumpkin Ale Saturday night (on draft), which I thought was great.

message 239: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I'm going to have to find me a Pumpkin Ale to try. Glad you liked it Sarah.

message 240: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Have you never had one, Jim? Some are definitely better than others.

message 241: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments If I have Sarah, it wasn't memorable.

message 242: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments You have Sarah?

And it wasn't memorable?

message 243: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm not used to being called 'it.' Also, Jim usually has better control of his tenses than that.

I do hate a loose tense!

message 246: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I got hit in the head by our loose tense when we were camping last week. It knocked me right out of my chair. Stupid wind.

Jammies Sarah Pi wrote: "I got hit in the head by our loose tense when we were camping last week. It knocked me right out of my chair. Stupid wind."

It knocked you down and then sat on you! Bad tent!

Jim, I suspect the fuss about Yeungling had more to do with its unobtainability, sorta like Coors back in the Smokey and the Bandit days...

message 248: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Jammies, agreed about the unobtainability. And Ohio is close enough to PA that you probably have some former Pennsylvanians itching to get their hands on it.

I always find it very interesting to see how breweries are able to create a stir. Natural Bohemian hasn't been brewed in Baltimore for years, but somehow Natty Bo! On tap! is a huge selling point since its return earlier this year.

And right now every bar in town is going gaga over Fat Tire. Fat Tire is good beer, but I don't think it's the best of the west by any stretch.
