I don't think I've ever heard the term Amishaholic but I like it! Welcome Sandi -- make yourself comfy and jump in anywhere.

Hi, I am Karen, I found this group through the recent Facebook party with Suzanne Fisher. I have been enjoying reading Amish fiction for several year, so I am very happy that this type of fiction has become so popular. I love listening to Suzanne Fishers podcasts as they have introduced me to many more Amish fiction authors that I might not have found on my own. I just ordered the Operation Bonnet book yesterday, so am looking forward to reading that book in October.
Welcome Karen! So happy to have more Amish loving friends! I am glad you will be joining us in one of our group reads. :) We're a relatively small but very active community! YAY!

I am new to group but not new to the Amish books as I have been reading them for past few years and really like them. I don't have a kindle but I do have a blog ttp://randomthoughtsbyjeanette.blogspot.com/ I live in a rural area so hardest thing is getting my hands on books to read as we have no library near.
Jeanette, I have an offer for you: I generally end up with a few Amish fiction and/or Christian fiction books lying around that I have read but do not care to keep. If you are interested I'd be happy to let you know which books and send whatever you would like to you. :)
I fell in love with the "Seasons of Grace" series and intend to read as many or all Beverly Lewis' books. I love her style and almost feel as if I am there with the character....I also read "Plain Truth" by Jodi Picoult and really enjoyed that as well.
Can anyone suggest some other good authors that write about the Amish?
Thanks!!

To tell you the truth Melody -- they're all good. If you want to be able to read a complete series, try Beth Wiseman. Cindy Woodsmall, Shelley Shepard Gray, Suzanne Woods Fisher, or Wanda E. Brunstetter. For series that aren't finished yet, Kelly Long, Barbara Cameron, Tricia Goyer, Ruth Reid, and many more.
Any help?

Hi Julie, welcome to the group! I am taking a break from Amish reading right now, but not for long! My next book will most likely be an Amish one! I love to read about the Amish since my late husband was a non-practicing one but always told me a lot about it!It's very nice to meet you, Gail

I decide to start doing book reviews and get a blog going. I'm trying to get the timing down involving blogging, reading books, and just living life! Please forgive me if I don't post much at first. Looking forward to checking out all of the discussions. Check out my blog www.tammycookblogsbooks.blogspot.com :)

Hello, I am Michelle. I have been a fan of Amish fiction for a number of years. I read
as one of my first books of this kind. It was so wonderful, I could not wait to read another in this genre. Over the years, I have found some wonderful Amish fiction as well as some that is not as great. I am always looking for new great Amish fiction. I'm excited to find this group.
Hi Michelle, welcome to the group! The Shunning was one of the first Amish books I've read and have been hooked ever since!

Welcome, Melissa! I have not read the book you speak of, but I might just add it to my "to-read" shelf!
Hello all - I am Angela and I have not been on here yet to really introduce myself. My mom and I enjoy reading Amish books. I will admit that mom gets more of them read and I have them all kept so I can read them as I get the chance. I do not have enough time to read all the books want to. I wish we could just get paid for reading. My mom is also a member here not sure if she has introduced herself yet or not. Her name is Wendy. She is new to goodreads. We live in Florida and not only do we share books we share a home.
I will list both mom's and mine blog for you all. Right now mom has many Amish and Christian reviews on her's me I have more general fiction right now.

Welcome Angela (and Wendy) to our group! I am following both of your blogs and I am looking forward to reading your reviews.
Hi! My name is Gina and I kind of stumbled onto this group. For a long time now I have been a fan of Amish fiction. I am just so interested in their culture. Right now I'm finishing up Linda Castillo 's series and I love them all. I'm excited to look around at all of the writers that are new to me and hopefully will be able to take part in some of the group reads!
Welcome Gina! I only knew about Beverly Lewis before joining this group. There are so many good Amish authors and not enough time in the day! LOL!If you have any questions, don't hestitate to ask!
Hi everyone, I'm Bree and I've never read Amish Fiction before but I'm intrigued and would like to see how the books are. If you have suggestions for a first time Amish reader please share. Thanks
Welcome Bree! There are literally hundreds of wonderful books, but it may be a good idea to start with some of the more well-known authors such as Beverly Lewis, Kelly Long, Marta Perry, Vannetta Chapman, Barbara Cameron or Dale Cramer.
What you may want to do if you have a Kindle or the Kindle app on your computer or smartphone or tablet computer, is download The Keeper: A Novel by Suzanne Woods Fisher. It's free on Amazon today, and you can download it here: http://www.amazon.com/Keeper-Stoney-R...
Camille, thanks so much for your help and suggestions. I appreciate it. I'm going to Amazon right now to get the book that's free.Camille wrote: "Welcome Bree!

We keep a thread of free Kindle books that are Amish and/or Christian fiction here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...:)
Also, http://www.ereaderiq.com/free/new/US/ is a great source to see free books for Kindle available daily!
Welcome Bree to our group!I agree with Camille and her suggestion (Thanks Camille for stepping up and answering her!). I read The Keeper and it is a great book, especially for your first Amish read!
Thanks Sarah, I'm already loving the book!Sarah wrote: "Thank you Camille. I just bought it and I'm so excited!
Welcome to Fans of Amish Fiction, Bree!"
Hi everyone, One of my fans on Facebook suggested that I start visiting Goodreads and, as an Amish writer, I very quickly found this group. I look forward to reading more about the people who love to read Amish fiction as much as I love to write about it!
And thanks to Camille for the Keeper information earlier this week. I was intending on reading that one and, now thanks to you, I have my own copy on my iPad! (yes, as much as I write the books, I devour them, too! Cindy Woodsmall, Wanda Brunstetter and Beverly Lewis are, obviously, at the top of my reading list. Looking forward to adding Woods Fiscer!
