Lisarenee | 7659 comments Lacey, I loved Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side too. Did you read The Wedding of Antanasia Jessica Packwood and Lucius Valeriu Vladescu? The author wrote up a freebie on her website. Here's a link:

http://www.bethfantaskey.com/wedding/...

Lacy♪ ♫Movements of a Demigod ♪ ♫ (lb3553) | 466 comments Lisarenee, I did read the freebie on her website and I really like her writting style. I am going to request Jekel Love Hyde from my library probably next month once I get some of my current library book finished.

message 6: by Sans (new)

Sans In absolutely no particular order. And I'll have to add more when I figure out what I've read this year that I loved.

Alissa Johnson (Providence Series)
Eileen Dreyer (Drake's Rakes series)
Sara Mackenzie (The Naked series)
Sarah McCarty (Hell's Eight and Wild series)
Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden by Watase Yuu (manga series)
Lynsay Sands (I know she's been around for a while, but I just started reading her books this year)
Bella Andre (her firefighter series)
Sherrilyn Kenyon (again, she may have been writing for years but I finally got around to her books)
Lynn Kurland (I love time travel romances)

message 7: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Sans, I know you've been reading Lynsay Sands' historicals, but have you tried her vampire series yet? I still need to try them.

I got 2 Bella Andre books from the library, but I haven't read them yet.

message 8: by Sans (new)

Sans Not yet. I have two of them at home but I think they're from the middle of the series. You know how OCD I am about reading in order!

Which Bella Andre did you get?

message 10: by Sans (new)

Sans I really liked Wild Heat. My library doesn't have any of her other books though! I'd love to hear what you think of Game for Anything.

message 11: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I always feel like I'm doing a test when I do these top ten things. They're so hard! Way too many great books out there.

1)The Hunger Games
2)Catching Fire
3)All I Ever Wanted
4)The Dark Divine
5)Beautiful Creatures
6)Return to Paradise
7)The Kite Runner

Brain freeze...I have to think about the rest.

message 12: by Katherine (new)

Katherine My absolute favorite this year has been: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake

I've also enjoyed new to me authors:
Lisa Kleypas the Wallflower series
Julia Quinn the Bridgerton Series

message 13: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I've been debating on whether to add Nine Rules or to just go ahead and put down Sarah Maclean. Did you read The Season? It had a more sophisticated feel to it. I loved it as well.

message 14: by Katherine (new)

Katherine No I haven't but I really need to. I'm glad to know that you liked it.

message 15: by Sans (new)

Sans Lisa, you know how much I enjoyed The Season! I'm still hoping she writes a sequel to that. I lent my copy of Nine Rules... to my mom and she hasn't given it back yet. I might have to wage war on her bookshelves and find it myself.

message 16: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Her next book comes out October 26th. It looks good.
Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord (Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, #2) by Sarah MacLean

message 17: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Yes I can't wait!!!!

message 18: by Kris (last edited Nov 17, 2010 10:51AM) (new)

Kris Englund | 11 comments So far, in no specific order...

-The Art of Racing in the Rain
-The Book Thief
-Beneath the Marble Sky
-The Help
-The Kitchen House
-Magic Hour
-Hidden Wives
-Born Under a Millon Shadows
-Magic Hour

Sarah's Key would be in there if she hadn't totally screwed up the ending!

message 19: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I never made it to the end of Sarah's Key. I'm going to attempt to read it, but at the time that I had the book I just wasn't in the mood for that type of book.

message 20: by Kris (new)

Kris Englund | 11 comments If you enjoyed the beginning at all, don't read the end. Honestly, it doesn't make any sense and doesn't fit the story at all. There were so many better places for it to go. Just dumb.

Lauren | 931 comments Lisarenee wrote: "I never made it to the end of Sarah's Key. I'm going to attempt to read it, but at the time that I had the book I just wasn't in the mood for that type of book."

Oh I really liked this one... I love historical fiction.

message 22: by Jane (new)

Jane (shoxford) | 34 comments I really enjoyed The Passage by Justin Cronin. It's a post-apocalyptic type novel involving secret experiments, zombie-like creatures and it's very exciting. Apparently it's the first in a trilogy as well although the next one's not out for ages. I'd recommend it.

message 23: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W The best book I read this past year was Catching Fire. Mockingjay was only so-so for me. I also really loved Models Don't Eat Chocolate Cookies, it was very funny, but also honest. I think my surprise book of the year was The Reincarnationist. I was in a reading funk at the beginning of the year, and this book was the only one I could read. I don't know if I would have picked it up ordinarily, but I was desperate.

message 24: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacybinnj) | 57 comments I think my favorite book of 2010 has been Under the Dome. It was LONG.... over 1,000 pages but it was really, really good. If you like Stepehn King it's a must read.

There have been several other books that I really enjoyed. I've gotten to know a lot of new authors and I've been reading in a lot of different genres.

Favorite Contemporary Fiction:
Peace Like a River (by the way I have this book available for swap)

Favorite PNR:
No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) - I have to go back and read the other books in the series

Favorite UF:
The Outlaw Demon Wails - LOVE Kim Harrison. I'm going to read the rest in the series before the end of the year.

Favorite Romance:
The Rescue - gotta love Nicholas Sparks

Favorite Mystery/Suspense:
The Bone Collector - I heard several other Lincoln Rhyme novels on audiobooks so I wanted to go back to the first in the series.

message 25: by Arthur (new)

Arthur (astra) 1. We (Twentieth-Century Classics) by Yevgeny Zamyatin
2. 1984 by George Orwell
3. Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson
4. The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson
5. The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

New authors discovered Alex Kava

AND

Wait for it****************

Lisa Kleypas
I loved Friday Harbour and can't wait to read more of her books. I can't believe it took me this long to read any of her novels. Thanks so much for introducing her to me. It really paid off to be a Hedgehog!
