message 1: by Melissa Wiebe (new)

Melissa Wiebe (melissawiebe80) | 200 comments I picked up this book for a reading challenge that I am involved in through Goodreads and I loved it. It is my third graphic novel that I have read (the first two were the Maus books) and I was amazed by this book! Not only is the story really good (which helps), but the drawings are gripping. If this had been a regular novel, it would have be drab and I probably would have been putting this down pretty quick. But the drawings in the book also tell the story as much as the words do.

Has anybody else read this?

I loved Blankets also. I read a library edition awhile ago, and just found a marked down new copy at the Harvard Book Store last week, so I snapped that up!

It's the perfect graphic novel for people who think they won't like graphic novels.

Judy (dujyt) I'll second that recommendation. My daughter loaned it to me and it made me have a completely different perspective on graphic novels.

She gave me The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi by Marjane Satrapi for Christmas and I felt much less intimidated by the graphic novel format because I'd enjoyed
Blankets by Craig Thompson so much.
