i didnt want to start another series b/c i have my hands full enough as it is but i may read this one this month.
so i just finished reading the proguloue and am on chapter 1 and who ever read this book, i have a question. vayl is a vampire but is jaz a vampire?? i dont think she is.
I just found out over the weekend that Jennifer Rardin died last week. I've only read a few of her books, but I've greatly enjoyed them. This is very sad.

It's been a while since I read this but if I remember correctly this suffers from First Book Syndrome. It gets better once the action picks up. Cole and Bergman are my favourite characters who provide the most comic relief.
ugh....it may take me a while to pick it up again, but i will try to get halfway through it. some other book ive read first in a series were hard to get through but not this hard, the other were quite interesting but not this one, this is gonna be a hard challange for me, to get through this book.
I just finished and really liked it! Vayl is so intriguing and I like that Jaz is sometimes neurotic and insecure. Her trauma is interesting to me, the author just gives us enough but not too much. I can't wait for the next.

Very sad..A friend lives in the city that she was in and they are investigating it as a apparent suicide..Hope not..She was a great author read the whole series so far and really enjoyed..I did hear that she finished the series before she passed and it will be released.
I just finished this book. Although I didn't have a hard time reading it like some of you, I didn't think it was great. It was light and fun, but the characters were pretty flat. I tried to like the whole "will they, won't they" Jaz-Vayl thing, but it felt forced. Maybe if we got to watch the relationship develop in those first six months it would have helped, but to jump into the story where we did... they just didn't seem as close as they were supposed to be (although they did obviously care about each other).
i read this book...it was a slow start but by the end i was sorta into the characters...but nothing like "i have to get the next book NOW" type of thing...and i still haven't. i know first books are tough....i'm sad that she passed away. how awful.
i think ill put this book on hold for awhile, i rather read something rite now where i dont have to force myself to read the book. hopefully the second time around it will be better.
Whilst I didn't love love love this book, it okay. I felt the characters were lacking a little and the whole relationship between jaz and Vayl was odd. I wonder if it improves as the series goes on?
Kris wrote: "has anyone read the next book? does it get better?"I second that question.... anyone????
No, I decided not to continue the series when I read the reviews for the second book. They were OK but basically all my complaints from the first one seemed ever present, and the Jaz-Vayle relationship remains will-they-won't-they. It's probably OK, like this one, but I don't think it's much better and there were simply a lot of other good books I wanted to read and didn't want to get sucked into a not-great series.
I've read them all so far. The the Jaz-Vayl relationship thing is resolved in book 4 I think. In some ways the books get better, the humour is one of those ways. I've had some embarrassing moments in public because of the humour but I also have issues with Jaz's increasing number of inner character monologues.
I just finished this one. I enjoyed the story but was disappointed with the lack or romance. This is a PNR, right? There was plenty of Paranormal but a huge lack of Romance. Oh well, I did really enjoy it though.

I did like this book, but was not completely wowed. There was some very humorous internal dialogue. Jaz was annoying at first, but I found I liked her more as the book progressed. I hear the rest of the series gets better.I really think we should respect the family's privacy by not speculating on the cause of her death. It is bad enough to lose a loved one. They don't need gossipy speculation passed around.
If you are interested, there is a Jennifer Rardin book challenge starting Jan 1 - June 30. Challenge is to read all 8 books on the SOS (Serious overload of Series group).
Mariya wrote: "its urban fantasy..."I didn't know what Urban Fantasy was, until recently.
I'll keep reading the series, but I'll have to chase it with a PNR.
maybe its just me but ive always loved jen's books and was hooked from the first one. Ive read 1-5 before this but was the perfect op- to re-read. im biased cause i love the first one, but they really are worth the effort to get thru if your strugglin, but amy's right but the action does pick up and u get to meet bergman and cole and they are so worth it :) the 2nd and 3rd books are my favourite :D

This is the place to gather to talk about the October group read Once Bitten, Twice Shy.
We had Once Bitten, Twice Shy planned as a group read for October long before we heard of Jennifer Rardin's very sad death. I hope as many of us as possible will try out her books, or re-read them, a fitting tribute to a popular author.
How are you finding it? What do you like (or not)so far? Is the heroine kick ass? Got a great Alpha male? (sample Q's to get you thinking! I've not read this so they may not all be relevant!)
If you've already read the book feel free to jump in too!!
Please be respectful of spoilers - do a warning if you are posting one!
