Since someone else also uses the name Leslie, I have added little thingies (can't think of what they are called at the moment) to either side of my GR name. Will this be sufficient or do I still need to use Leslie W?

The tilde is really easy to miss when you're checking a bizillion posts and messes up the alphabetization in the spreadsheets anyway.
If you don't want to remember to put LESLIE W at the top of your posts, you could replace the tilde after your name with a W (or some other unique identifier: LESLIE ~ READING MACHINE, for example).
