Hi Tui, I do look after my mum however, she is most independent at the moment, and stubborn! She loves her garden and she is very house proud. However, now we get the house cleaned and she does her garden still as that is her passion. Whilst she doesn't drive very much anymore, she can still walk to the shops which she enjoys or I take her if there is a big trip. She also reads lots and lots, however, she has put me in charge of collecting books etc for her. So we kind of have our own book club, we discuss many a book over many cups of tea. Love you photo.

BUT she still recognises us all when we visit and the most important thing is she still has a wicked sense of humour and is always on the lookout for something to laugh about.

:))))
Don't be afraid to ask someone, only one person said no to me because I don't read enough non fiction apparently!!!!!

You realise as you get older how special mums really are! I must admit we do have a close relationship, closer to because my brother lives overseas, we have a bit of a laugh about things and discuss every problems there is and are very sure we could solve all problems if everybody would just let us. Ha Ha

Glad to hear he's all set to go and they're not making him wait for ages.
wish me luck guys - I have a doctors appointment today, and that is a brutal struggle when one suffers crippling anxiety.

Thank you Brenda <3 - It is extremely frustrating when normal things become difficult due to anxiety.

Dinosaurs are scary - they eat people - and dogs!! I have a vivid image of the 3rd movie where the doggy barks at the dinosaur and retreats into his kennel (he was chained to it) and there is a shot of the dinosaur with the chain hanging out of his mouth with the kennel attached. Implication was that the poor little dog was in the dinosaurs mouth. I cried.

Hope everything went well for you.

Hope all went well for you Melissa..

Hope it all went Ok for you Melissa and you got back home safe and sound.

That sounds terrible Melissa. I am very interested in these kinds of problems just now. I've been researching depression. I've never suffered from anything like this myself, but have a character with depression in my story so I need to learn what it's like.
The closest I ever came to it was a sudden series of three panic attacks that struck over one weekend and never returned. I had no idea what was happening to me and thought I was having a stroke. But it was "only" a panic attack.
My most vivid memory of that incident was my beautiful cat who knew something was majorly wrong with me and as I was all alone in my house way out in the country, it was up to her to sort it out. She did everything she could in the way of reassurance and it certainly helped. It felt like my own mind, body and spirit had suddenly been taken over by forces beyond my control, which were trying to kill me.
In the end, I could feel myself passing out and thinking it was a sudden physical illness (like stroke) I dialled the emergency number (111 here)and an ambulance came. The second time it happened, my man was home and this time I knew what it was, so it was not as scary as that first terrifying strike from the blue.
But it was very simple to sort out in my case as there were obvious real reasons that had caused it. It was an overload of unpaid volunteer work that had caused me too much stress. I resigned from my volunteer position and advised the organisation (a sports club) to spread the load more fairly over other volunteers. I also had some counselling immediately and all was well thereafter. Fine for me, but what about the people who have these kinds of problems for no obvious reason? How do they help themselves?

Is next wednesday Jools - 24th - but we still wish him all the best and will do so again next week - LOL

No major panic this time - it is funny how the mind works, and associates certain events to panic.

We were just about to send out the troops looking for you Melissa! ;) glad it went well and you got home safe and sound :)

Thanks for that Leonie - I'll check those links - very timely for me. People's personal experiences are exactly what I need.

"Depression filled me with the kind of hopelessness that made me wonder at how other people could ever have enough hope to bring children into a world like ours."
I came from this story about "Two Black Dogs":
https://open.abc.net.au/explore/79217
I had researched online and found some clinical information but this personal experience stuff is far more helpful, if like you, we are trying to put our own healthy minds into the minds of the sufferers and find out what its really like for them.
