Sound like great bargains Faye. At my local op shop the books are $4 each. still cheap but not $1.

Ashleigh I know how disappointing it is because we no longer have a bookshop have to travel 20 mins away. Would you have a library as they are free, always have multiple copies of popular books, I never wait too long for new releases. My library also order in books that I suggest and I am the first to read them. Plus you save a bucket load of money.Just a thought.

message 16571: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9989 comments A big thank you to the very kind Aussie Reader who dropped in The Memory Tree at my house while I was at work today. I got home before the rain, but it was so well packaged and placed that that wouldn't have been an issue.
Thanks so much, you know who you are! I will find a way to reciprocate.....eventually!
Now I can return the one I read to the library and I still have a copy for my little book club and my Mum to read.

I'm just back from the launch of Bronwyn Parry's latest, Storm Clouds - very successful with lots of books sold, heaps of signings (including mine) then a few of us went to lunch - I sat between Bron and her husband and met a couple of other authors and a professional editor, among others! A wonderful few hours.... the long trek back home again tomorrow:)

I'll post some photos after we get home tomorrow or Monday:)

Was great weather yesterday Michael, but it's raining here now - pouring in fact - and meant to rain up in this area tomorrow too...so maybe not so good tomorrow, at least starting off :)

I had a lovely policeman help me out this afternoon - left at a different exit to what I entered and couldn't work out where I was! I walked for a bit, then saw a police paddy wagon heading toward me, so I stood in the middle of the pedestrian crossing and waited for him! He set me straight, saying it's a bit of a maze around the area...he was smiling too;)

It was a good story - made me want to know more about Alan Turing - I might have to add a book about him to my TBR list. I think the movies credits said that the movie was based on Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges.

Yes.my husband is currently reading it and thinks the movie may have over dramatised things a bit (surprise surprise). I really enjoyed the movie. I was just horrified by what happened to him in the end.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) During the week here, it's been so hot that it has burnt all of my rose blooms to a crisp. This weekend was predicted to be rainy but last night we've just had a bit of drizzle. Not much but enough to wet all the bed linen which I stupidly left on the washing line.

message 16599: by Dale (last edited Jan 10, 2015 11:41AM) (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6953 comments A shame about the washing Bette. I decided to leave mine to dry inside yesterday since I thought it would rain. It didn't. But it has rained all night steadily.Hope the rain is happening in fire areas.
