Listeneing to the emergency services in SA he was saying the conditions are scarily bad. - always a worry when emergency services are scared.
Mount Gambier (where I grew up) in SA is in trouble too...Tantanoola was hit badly in the Ash Wednesday fires (I was caught in Mount Gambier with my 2yo son (now 32) unable to travel back to Naracoorte where we lived), and they're copping it again.. Golden Grove in northern Adelaide is where our son and d-i-l lived (fortunately not now)...it's terrifying!
Take care everyone...

I hope you can view this - Tea Tree Gully Boarding Kennels and Cattery, North East of Adelaide, released this statement this evening after fire tore through their property.

My heart goes out to all of them.
I dropped my beloved pet in boarding today and this story just hits at my worst nightmares.

The Adelaide Hills has gone through so many fires in the last few years, I hope the fire can be contained and there is not too much loss of property. Adelaide Hill-ians, I feel for you.
Michael wrote: "The owners of the Kennels also lost there home. What terrible blows for them having to inform people about the loss of there animals and coming to terms with there own losses."
Yes they lost everything - their home, their livelihood and the animals...terrible:(

Hope any Aussie GR'ers in the area are safe...

Thanks for sharing that Leonie..good to know she and her family is safe. Glad she found out her grandfather is safe too, and hope his dog is found..

And then there was the issue of thunderstorms setting more fires.

That got to me more than any of the other stuff to be honest :/

I spent hours in the company of a long dead relative as he relates his life and travels over 100 years ago.

I have some letters Mum wrote home to Holland during our ship journey here and the first few months, have been translating them.

How wonderful!
And on another note: Good Morning early birds :)
It's back to work for me today after twelve days off. Will be a bit of a shock to the system!

Yes, this "early bird" is only an early bird because I have to start work so early (6:30am). But hey, at least tomorrow is my day off. I get to sleep in and then go and cuddle doggies at Animal Welfare League, where I volunteer on Tuesday's.

That is fantastic! How interesting.

How wonderful Bette! You would have been drawn deep into the early 1900s and loved it too :) So interesting!

Wow that is so interesting

Oh, another animal volunteer, excellent. I walk two dogs 4kms each day for our local RSPCA. I have to train myself not to end up with another one at home. My husband used to call our place The Home of Last Chances; I was always bringing home something which would otherwise be euthanised.

Aww, that's sweet. I'm imagining the doggies you walk looking up at you with their big sad eyes!
We used to have kitties, usually in pairs, but my husband's allergies have been so much better since our last one passed away, so no more fur babies for us.
He did buy me a plush panther, but somehow it's not the same...

It's great isn't it Liam, the way the states help each other out in times of crisis...when we had our bad fires here Oct 2013, we had SA and Vic firies helping out too...

Thanks"
If you go to https://booko.com.au/ you can find the cheapest prices online there. Mostly Book Depository will be the cheapest as Liam says, but sometimes you'll get a real bargain:)

I think little Holly is missing her Mum! She barked on and off all night, then when the thunder started about 2.30am she was clawing at the door trying to get in. I wouldn't let her in because of our dog - not fair!! But now we are existing on about 2 hours sleep:("
Oh you meanie, Brenda, lol! Let that poor little doggie in (and yours) if there's thunder outside, Holly's obviously scared of thunder:D
