Sandra | 25907 comments LOL. Not me, I'd have to organize it again, my way.

Even most of my bookshelves are in alphabetical order or series order, depending on which author. My friends just laugh at me when they notice. They can't believe anyone would do that. I've always done it.

Not to mention I've done the same with the dvd's, and yet when one of them wanted to borrow one, it took me exactly 1.8 seconds to find the said dvd, Short Circuit 2, #5 is Alive.

Judithe | 6566 comments LOL! I wish I had enough shelves to do that!!!!!!!!

message 103: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25907 comments Well the books have to go somewhere, even if they are double shelved, so they might as well be how I like em. And the dvd's have their own tall towers of goodness. And box sets (all my scifi etc) go on specially built shelves in the old tv cabinet now that we have a flat screen that won't fit in there anymore.

See this is why I'm a GR librarian, I just can't help it.

Zaanodes | 804 comments Wow. All this since Friday!

1. Thank you for answering my question.

2. After extensive research, contacting all available resources, it has been officially determined...

There is no BINGO POLICE!

There is however, severe penalties if fun is not had by all!

My imagination just overrules my good sense sometimes. I will put myself in time-out now.

message 115: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Hi, Ming! Welcome to the group! Thanks for your interest in the game. We actually have a team that is short a player or two, if you're interested in joining in now. I'll send you a PM and we can discuss it. :)

message 116: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments I'm back - that didn't work. I got this message, Ming, "Sorry, this person isn't accepting messages." So, if you wouldn't mind taking a few minutes to read through everything, look over the team threads to get an idea of the game and either post here or PM me letting me know if you would like to join us now (we just started the game on 6 Mar, you could jump in on the next shelf) or wait until we have another team challenge/game.

Thanks :)

message 117: by Ming (new)

Ming | 247 comments I can start now if you have an opening..

will read through to see what I need to do. I'll see if I can figure out why you got the not accepting messages notice.

message 118: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Ok, sounds great. You can join Sallie's team "The Bite Me Betty Dolls", they are team #5. Hop over to the team thread when you can and introduce yourself. I'll notify Sallie, the team captain, so she's aware when she pops back online.

Link to team thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5...

Hold off reading until the next shelf announcement, which will be this coming Sunday. If you have any questions about how to play, feel free to ask me, Sallie or your other team mates. I'm sure you'll catch on quickly.

Welcome to the game!!

I hope that is not sarcasm directed at my absolute, all-time, better-than-chocolate, movie???

lolol

message 123: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments No, no, of course not....I don't believe I've ever seen that classic, so I can't comment on it's worthiness. But I can guess... ;)

And now I have had "Who's Johnny" in my head ever since I read Sandra's post. Thanks. A lot.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments New question......

Is there a minimum number of pages for a book to qualify?

message 128: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1714 comments What about graphic novels?

message 129: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Hi, Ladies. We have just been discussing a rule for a minimum page limit.

* All books should be a minimum of 200 pgs. All others are more of a novella. This rule will be effective as of the 2nd shelf announcement, in case someone has already chosen and read one for shelf #1. (if you have read one for shelf #1, your read will count)

* No, graphic novels are not accepted.

message 130: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 342 comments Hello! Is there a thread for people who would like to join/start a new team?

message 131: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Hi Sandy, Glad you're interested.

Unfortunately, teams are set until the next round. A little before that, Steph will make an announcement for interested people to sign up. Several teams are getting close to Bingo, so this one might be close to finished...all depends on Mr. Randomizer! Really hope to see you in the next round and feel free to drop by the bingo threads and chat, too!!

message 132: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Hi, Sandy. Hope you can join us for the next round. No dates set for it yet, but I will be taking a break between the end of this one and the beginning of the next one.

message 133: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 342 comments Thank you! I will be on the lookout for the next round.

message 134: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Catch it fast! The slots filled up so fast this round.

message 135: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments LOL! Ain't that the truth!

message 136: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments I'll try to remember to post a "Get Ready" thread first. That way more people will have a shot at spotting the sign-up post before it's full. ;)

message 137: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Good idea! I'll try to remember to remind you, LOL!

message 138: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments LOL! Cool! We're kinda like the blind leading the blind. ;) Now, if one of us can remember we'll be good to go.

message 139: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Hmmm...now if I can figure out how to do reminders on my phone, we'll be set!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments About Free Space....I would like to read a Nalini Singh book but it's not on the group bookshelf (well, all her other books are). It's missing Archangel's Storm actually. In the spirit of having a 'complete' series I added it since it's not on any new release thread. Would it be stretching the rules to use it for myself?

I was wondering that too. We have all of the Sirantha Jax books on the shelf, but not
Endgame. I was gonna add it, but then I wasn't sure if since I added it, I would be able to read it for the free space.

message 143: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited Sep 17, 2012 03:30PM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Paris, the way I see it and in my humble opinion the moderators cannot update the entire group bookshelf all by themselves, members are encouraged to add to it.

The sticky point is that during Bingo it would almost be the same as tagging our own book to fit a shelf, which is not the way to go.

I'm kind of shooting myself in the foot in saying that but it is an ethical dilemma.

message 144: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Sep 17, 2012 06:29PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments On the otherhand, if someone wanted to check the bookshelf and fill in all the series blanks ... just as some sort of maintenance ...

I know goodreads has lots of suggestions for series checklist sort of stuff; including group options and hope they get to soon (after whatever's needed to help the over-capacity problems)

That's kinda how I was looking at it too. I'm reading a different book just because I felt funny about it. But now...I feel like I've also kinda done my duty for the group just in case there was someone else out there that wanted to read Endgame for their free space.

Deborah, I actually thought about going through and filling in the blanks. I still might do that as a work day project since I like to not actually work if I can get away with it lol

message 146: by D.G. (last edited Sep 18, 2012 08:27AM) (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I'm not reading either...so I'll add both books! As you gals said, the members are encouraged to add books and they both really fit the group.

message 147: by Mary X (last edited Sep 18, 2012 08:16AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I personally think if someone adds a book from a series that's already on the shelf than it's OK by my book. I don't think someone should just add a book randomly. But if a random book (or the latest release) of a series was missed being added to the shelf: I would be ok with that.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments In any case, I chose another book from the bookshelf that I did not add either. Problem solved for me.

message 149: by Lina (new)

Lina I have a general question. This week's shelf is Kick-ass heroine. If something was tagged as Kick-ass female lead or Kick-butt heroine, could that still count, even though it wasn't on the actual Kick-ass heroine shelf?

message 150: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments No, CaroB. It must be in the shelf called using the exact spelling.
