Ellie (nells_shelves) | 2 comments Thought I'd drop a line to introduce myself! Been listening to the pod for a while so wanted to check out the forums.
I read all sorts of things including sci fi and fantasy. Never very good at picking favourites but I think anything by Douglas Adams or Philip Pullman's Dark Materials (original trilogy) would still often make my favourites lists!
Absolutely love Piranesi when I read it earlier this year so looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on that.

Glenn Fall | 1 comments Hi :)

My name is Glenn and I am very happy I found this group. It is always good to see how others are doing with their reading and find some interesting new books I would never stumble upon. I am new to Goodreads and this place looks just wonderful! So I am looking forward to exploring! I am also interested in finding new friends to add. My interests are historical fiction, horror, fantasy, biographies, sci-fi, detective and mystery stories.... So if you think our reading piles could match and we could have a good chat about books, don't hesitate to add me :)

Renee | 13 comments Hi all - my name is Renee, and I am an avid reader of all kinds of books, but I particularly enjoy fantasy and sci-fi. I'm glad I stumbled on this community, as I'm fairly new to Goodreads in general. Asimov is my all-time favorite author, probably followed by C.S. Lewis. I recently discovered Katherine Arden and tore through her Winternight trilogy (actually, I tried to slow down on the third book to make it last longer and failed miserably). I love to read accompanied by any and all beverages - coffee, wine, tea, cocktails, etc. Looking forward to engaging in the discussions and learning more from the group about awesome authors and books to enjoy!

Always on the lookout for my next great read!

Welcome Divya. I'm sure the members of this group can more than fill your TBR list up with some staples of the SFF genre.

You can check out the What Else are you reading threads to see what our members are doing, but you can also make your own thread in that section if you want to ask for some suggestions.

Sue McKerns | 6 comments Hi, All. I am Sue McKerns and here's my intro. I got hooked on the original Lost in Space tv series as a kid. By hooked I mean I would play hooky from after-school bible class to get in my Lost In Space. I, age 8, would also sit at the top of the stairway to the second floor and peek around the corner and down into the living room when an episode of UFO was on. Later, I would spend my lunch money on paperback Science Fiction & Fantasy books. So that's my origin story and I've had an SFF obsession ever since (40+ years now). My family never understood :( but that never slowed my interest. Then I eventually realized I was also reading Urban Fantasy, and here I am.

I got a practical job in a law firm (not a lawyer) and that's been me for the last 30 years, with SFF on the side. Kinda boring. But then I discovered beta reading. I can't write a thing, but I've found that I can help writers along the way, and I'm always impatient to get started on the next project. After all this time I've finally found a way to contribute to the SFF I love. I'm here to talk SFF, but if anyone needs a paid beta reader focused on SFF (as opposed to SFF being at the bottom of a list of genre options starting with rom-com), check out my profile.

Beth Overmyer (bethyo) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Beth and I joined this forum a while ago but haven't been active (obviously.) I enjoy mysteries and fantasy mostly, but I'll read in almost any genre. Favorite authors (at the moment) include Tolkien, Agatha Christie, Neil Gaiman, Charlie N. Holmberg, and Rick Riordan.

Jonas Hi!

My name is Jonas and I am most definately a Laser :)

I have been on Goodreads for several years now, however I just kept lists and track of my books but felt a bit lonely so decided to seek out like minded individuals. I can't wait to get stuck in!

Just finished reading Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein and loved it!

Gaines Post (gainespost) | 206 comments Hullos. I've not been active here in a while, so I thought I'd re-introduce myself. Hello everyone. I'm Gaines. I live in the Blue Mountains in southeastern Australia, and I like to go for walks, play & listen to music, eat good food, and read good stories, regardless of genre, though I do tend to gravitate toward speculative fiction / sci-fi / fantasy. The best book I've read this year so far was Beloved, which I highly recommend, and I've just recently (and finally!) begun reading The Eye of the World in the Wheel of Time series, which has been on my to-read list since long before Goodreads even existed. It's captivating so far. Anyway, nice to meet you / nice to see you again, all. /wave :-) Oh, and I make weekly blog posts at www.otherspect.com . The topic varies; sometimes it's a memory, sometimes a pontification about this or that, sometimes a poem, sometimes a bit of fiction, sometimes a ramble about food or whatever else might be on my mind.
Once I'm done with the Robert Jordan books, I'll wander back into sci-fi. I always do.

John Dudley | 6 comments HI, I'm John. I've listened to the show for years, but never really participated. My new year's resolution this year is to read all the picks and participate. Should be easy enough as I normally read most of the picks either before they are chosen or later, but this will be the first time I make an effort to read them with everyone else.

Chiara Stone | 1 comments Hi I’m Chiara, I’ve always loved to read and try to dip into lots of different genres. I particularly like retellings of fairy tales. I do love Harry Potter but I haven’t really tried any high fantasy. I’ve joined the group as I’d love to make more good read friends (feel free to add me) and I’d love to discover more books to read :)

Peter Frost | 2 comments Hello! I'm Peter - reader of books with swords, and books with lasers. I'm also a fledgling writer who is fascinated with the idea of combining swords AND lasers in a single story! (What could possibly go wrong?)

My reading has slowed in the last few years, and I hope to reinvigorate my reading habit, and to get a good handle on what's totally hot right now in the SciFi/Fantasy realm.

M1 | 1 comments Hi! Just discovered the group and podcast. I read almost, but not quite, exclusively sci-fi and fantasy. Lately I’ve been dipping back into sci-fi’s grand masters (Simak, Williamson, Lem, Pohl). Someday, soon, I will actually finish The Dresden Files (to which I was introduced in 2019). I love dense space operas (Peter Hamilton, Vernor Vinge, etc). So many books. So little time.

My name's Christian. I love sci-fi and fantasy stories (especially when they're mashed together).

Glad to be here! :D

That happened to me a couple of years ago. I'd read all my life, without a break, and then suddenly, I couldn't bring myself to read any books. It lasted for a good year and a half. Now I'm reading again. Not sure why it happened, but it did. I'm happy I'm reading books again though :-)
