Playing with two peoples emotions is always jerky behavior, no matter what sex (or sexual orientation) you are.

well, that's like what they say, 'if a guy has two women, it's expected or natural. but, if a girl has two guys, she's considered a slut or tramp.'
Kayla wrote: "well, that's like what they say, 'if a guy has two women, it's expected or natural. but, if a girl has two guys, she's considered a slut or tramp.'"I say a guy is an asshole and a cheat if he has two women. Perhaps it is just me.
well, i say that too, but if this were other guys, he'd be a king for being able to have two women. but if it were a woman with two men, the guys would consider her a tramp.

Ditto. In my past I may have casually dated or whatever two guys at the same time but I was always very clear that 1) we were not in a relationship and 2)I was still on the dating circuit. Or okay that I was drunk when we "hung out" and I have no intention of ever "hanging out again" - and you know I throw that in the whole college/whatever category. :)

I agree!!! twilight opened up my world for paranormal romance I really thought the books weren't half bad (at first), but after reading other paranormal romances (southern vamp novels,The Black Dagger Brotherhood, mortal instruments series etc..) I was like "oh! so this is what real P.R is all about?"...twilight sucks in comparison to all the great books that are actually out there, and I thought the movies completely sucked, except for rob Pattinson being a dream boat! :)........ kinda looking forward to red riding hood movie by same director Catharine Hartewick though

I have read none of these but by the covers it could almost be the same series.
They are Definently there own books just similar in the whole fallen angels and mortals falling in love with them aspect...they both go in opposite directions though once u get past that....lol
I loved both books Catie! I also think if you like Anna and the French Kiss you will like Amy & Roger's Epic Detour.

I think I have Epic Detour and just haven't read it yet. I keep telling myself that I'm going to stop buying books until I've read the 60 I already have waiting for me... and I. just. can't. stop!

I loved fallen and Hush Hush but the sequels to both of those were so alike and painfully bad. That always happens to me, I find a great book and think oh boy I've found a new author and then I get their other books and it sucks. Sorry to just jump in here new to the group. Gini
You're welcome to jump in anywhere in this group. We jump around a lot. Sometimes I think a kangaroo lives in our brain. And you will realize we get off topic, push books and generally have a good time.

On the topic of Twilight... I enjoyed the books a lot. I loved Jacob, thought Edward was kinda creepy and I didn't really love Bella. I seen the flaws but loved it anyway. Kind of like when you take a bite of something and can't decide if you like it or not... but can't stop eating it. I have the same relationship with the Sookie books (which are definitely NOT YA.) I love me some Eric and can't stop. :-P I still need to read book 10. Waiting for the paperback. I haven't read VA yet.But someone recommended
to me since I liked Twilight. In some ways I loved it even more. I felt like it was better written and they had a healthier relationship than Edward and Bella. That is all I will say though. :)
Kayla wrote: "well, that's like what they say, 'if a guy has two women, it's expected or natural. but, if a girl has two guys, she's considered a slut or tramp.'"My boyfriend says he doesn't understand why a man would want more than one woman because "You get to disappoint two women at the same time." LOL :)
Awesomevegan I think for a lot of adult Twilight lovers it was one of their first forays back into the YA book world, so even though I am not a fan of the series, I can see why others love it. I often wonder though if Twilight "holds up" for people upon later rereads after they have read other YA books like Shiver and Hunger Games, which IMO had much better writing.
They didn't hold up for me. It was my first foray back into YA, and for every amazing one I read after the fact my eyes open wider and wider about Twilight. My friend was addicted to Twilight. She'd finish them and immediately start over. After reading other books and series she's now admitted that Edward no longer holds her heart and she hasn't picked them back up. She even says that she doesn't want to, because if she does she knows she wont feel the same way about them.
Twilight was one of my first back into YA books as well as one of my first PNR books. Twilight got me back into reading again regularly. So even with its flaws it will always be special to me. :) I have not read the last Hunger Games book but agree that so far, it is amazing. I am putting off reading it... I think because I don't want it to end. I will be looking for Hunger Games if you like it recommendations.

If you like The Mortal Instruments Boxed Set: City of Bones; City of Ashes; City of Glassyou would like The Alchemyst
Mindy wrote: "If you like The Mortal Instruments Boxed Set: City of Bones; City of Ashes; City of Glassyou would like The Alchemyst"I read The Alchemyst, and I didn't love it. I didn't find the relationships in the book to be matured (however much they are) compared to those in The Mortal Instruments. But I will say that if you liked
The Mortal Instruments Boxed Set: City of Bones; City of Ashes; City of Glass, then you will like Vampire Academy Box Set

I think The Alchemyst is geared for a little younger audience then the other.
I liked HG and I really don't like Maze Runner all that much. Just because they're the same genre doesn't make the writing great or even good. I suffered through Maze Runner and Scorch Trials, but then that's because I'm a character oriented reader and Maze Runner, etc. is definitely action oriented.
I think MR appeals more to males than females, but I still loved it once I got past the slang.Maybe because I have a secret thing for Mazes. There needed to be more Maze-y goodness in the second book, unfortunately.
We did MR for another group's read a few months back and I think we all enjoyed it, but agreed that HG was better.
Ug, the slang just about killed my reading of that series. Really, I have only stopped reading one book ever in the history of books, and I came mighty close with MR because of that slang.
If you likeThe Hunger Games you'll like The Giver. If you have never read the Giver it is one I would definetly try.
Betty - I haven't read Uglies yet but definitely try

Also have you read his Midnighters series?
I really liked this series but don't know how it compares to Uglies.
