FANTASTIC
This is without a doubt one of my favorite YA Fantasy series.
I do love Richelle Mead, her series Succubus Blues is also one of my favorite UF series ever.

What you'll find in this series:
Entertainment from beginning to end. Action, emotion, badassery, growth, adventure, VAMPIRES, fighters, excitement, suspense, intrigue, passion, love.
Great plot. Brilliant story evolution, believable succession of events and excellent plot development.
Fantastic characters and character development. Intelligent, brave, responsable, tough and feminine heroins that make smart choices. Hot, mysterious, loyal, intriguing, inteligent and badass male main characters. Characters than mature, learn and behave accordingly to their ages, circumstances, and life lessons.
Incredible relationships. Intense and developed romance with out of this word chemistry and longing. True bounds of friendships and loyalty.
Exemplary.

This series has it all. I have reread it many times and I will do it again. I eat this series up!

Eat it up

My favorite book within this series is Blood Promise (Book 4), which is one of my favorite books of all time. However, the book that truly made me a hardcore fan of the Vampire Academy was Shadow Kiss (Book 3), the final part enthralled me and trapped my heart.

I do have some issues with Spirit Bound (Book 5) regarding Rose's relationship with Adrian, her thoughts and actions regarding him and Dimitri. It bothered me, and I don't really see how it was that relevant to the story. The way the relationship unfolded made little sense to me, specially because of the small time-lapse everything happened in. If we had had a much longer time interval, her feelings and thoughts would have made more sense to me.

The audiobook narrator is very good. My first time with these books was by paperbacks, after that, all my rereads have been by audiobooks.

I highly recommend this series, both to YA and adults, females and males. It is just great.

P.S.: The movie is appallingly TERRIBLE and does an atrocious disservice to these books. It should be staked in the heart!

This is the box set of book 1 to 3.
I already had the non-box-set book, but my friend, Angelic_zaizai offered me the box set, and i can't help my self to refuse her offer. description

I was falling in love with Vampire Academy since i read the first book, because the idea of the story was so different with the Other-Popular-Vampire books.
I mean, the main character is still 17 years old school girl like Bella and Zoey, yes... but Rose has a very strong character. She's smart, has good sense of humor, stubborn, and tough not clumsy...And that makes VA one step front of them.

And the story of this book not tells about Love Story between human n vampire, this book tells about Dhampir (half human-half vampire) who trained to be a great guardian to protect Moroi (mortal vampire) from Strigoi (immortal Vampire, of course the bad one).
And another reason why I love this book, because Rose (the Main character) is not a charming princess. She's just a dhampir. Even though she was popular.. (popular with her smartass reputation) description

This is a nice book, everybody will fallin love with Rose, with folklore about Moroi and Strigoi, and i think the plot's good too, good dialogs..a little bit rush in the beginning, but nice in the ending.
But don't you try to give this book to your under 15 age sisters. Because this book doesn't shy about sex, there are a lot of parts when Rose tells us about BLOOD WHORE (Dhampir let Moroi drink their blood during sex). description

What a box set. This box set is totally worth the price. I absolutely love this series. If your a fan of YA, you'll love this series for sure. It's amazing. This isn't just another Twilight. Its even more mature and more attention holding than Twilight. I liked Twilight, but this is in a different category. This series has action, romance, twists and traders. I loved it more book one, and ever sine I couldn't stop. I cannot wait for Spirit Bound in May. It's going to be an amazing book. Richelle Mead is a genius. I love all her work. When a new book comes out from Mead, I know it's going to be awesome. If you have yet to read Richelle Mead book or this YA series, your in for a treat! Do it! Do it now! :D

I was expecting this to be terribly boring and cliche, but Mead has managed to put a spin on the world of vampires and made it interesting and exciting.

The OTP- I was originally going to criticize the power dynamic and give a rant about how it's unbalanced and what not, but having read the rest of the series, I stand corrected!
I believe that the best types of relationships are where both persons regard one another as equals, in ability, maturity, psychologically etc. Mead has made this pairing work and they're honestly one of my favorite pairings now.

The humour- I love Rose's ability to jump from jokes to seriousness so quickly, it made her a far more rounded out character.

For fear of accidentally including a spoiler, I'm just gonna end this off with- The series is definitely worth reading.

I'm not one to typically read young adult novels, especially when vampires are involved. I run the policy of "vampires are evil." So when this book was handed to me as a friend, I expected to hate it. If that doesn't say something about how good it is that I read through the series multiple times (and bawled the entirety of one book), I'm not sure what would.

First, the story isn't what you think it is at first. I mean, it presents itself obviously when you read it a second time, but at first I imagined a very different path. Two best friends running away from school, one's a fighter and the other's a "noble" of sorts, yeah I figured they'd do the standard "fight over a guy" trick but no, it's all centered around the magic that bonds the two. Without spoiling anything, the two are connected by both friendship and magic, and the latter results in a majority of the conflicts surrounding them. It is both a blessing and a curse to the two girls and presented rather well. I cannot say that it's perfect as it's centered around the idea that no one knew about it (a case that to me feels less believable as time goes on), but we're also dealing with the idea that people didn't discover vampires or an entire school filled with them so some leeway should be permitted.

Second, the characters are amazing. Well, that may be a bit too much to say as many are underdeveloped, including several key characters, but there are enough of them to keep the story strong and even those that aren't fully fleshed out are interesting enough. A good example is Adrian Ivashkov, who gets developed pretty well but not enough to be a (minor spoiler) love interest, in my opinion. Still, he helps pull the storyline along and is a strong support, as well as somewhat a problem, for the two main girls. And he does one of my favorite things a secondary love interest has ever done in a book. It doesn't just end with him either! Keep in mind, Rose is our main character but Lissa, while not sharing the same amount of spotlight, does a pretty damn good job of holding up a story of her own. She starts off as a "goody" girl but her development as she is revealed, to the readers, as something more. She is just as strong a main character as Rose.

Third, and keep in mind this is more for my own peace of mind, the lore and magic is well done as well. It's kept, for the most part, simple. The major elements (fire, earth, water, and wind) are involved and their uses are interesting most of the time. The other two (and for preventing spoilers, I shall keep it hidden) are shrouded in enough mystery that the facts become twisted. It's actually surprisingly well done. I'd talk about the convoluted idea of kids not even thinking of practicing magic offensively, but this goes along with the "cannot find a vampire school" issue. The lore is where I got really hooked. Moroi and Strigoi are actual vampire types from history. While they aren't defined the way this book defines them (it was more based on what they fed or how they were revived, including witch souls), it was interesting to see that there was more than just a "oh hey, vampires drink blood" concept behind it, and the two separations allowed for both the "good" and "evil" vampires to be represented.

Overall, I loved the story. I has most of the same standard issues that many young adult novels have, but it handles many of the ones I typically have an issue with rather well. The relationships are believable, for the most part, and the characters are strong even if they aren't all fully developed. There are a couple of storyline plot holes, but you can glance over them easily when something stronger than the missing link pulls the story along. And the romance between the two main characters, the strain that keeps them apart and the logic the two have that draws them to each other while telling them they can't be together is well written. A 4/5 and a highly recommended book to any young female looking for a darker, stronger story with a true feeling of love and magic.

This series had to be one of the best I have EVER read. There are six to the full set, and I loved them all! Completed under two weeks, they are that good.

If you love vampires, and you love to be able to connect with the characters, feel what the characters feel, then this series is PERFECT for you.

Lissa and Rose have to be the best people ever, you get so much from them. Their romances with the men they love just make you feel as though you could be part of it all!

Rose has the forbidden romance going on... and I'll tell you what, I love it! It just pulls you into the book even more! The feeling of something forbideen yet one hundred percent right. It just makes you connect with the characters to well!

I think the age range for this must be the teens... It's got teen drama, everything a teen has to cope with during the few years we are truly finding ourselves. So, 13-17 maybe? But anyone older can read, I just think the teens would connect more, but everyone is sure to love the book. I did anyway!

READ IT, ITS WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!

OMG, I loved this book. It drew me in, took me for a wild ride into the moroi and dhampir world and I really hated to turn the last page. But luckily for me, the journey is not over as there are more books waiting for me. These first three books had me sitting on the edge of my seat (not to mention keeping me up at night trying to stop myself from reading another chapter) I can't remember reading another book that had me laughing at Rose's actions, rooting for her when she stood her ground or gasping when she did something I didn't see coming.

I'm going to dive into the rest of the series now seeing as I'm not ready to write an in-depth review. Still to buzzed/hyped/emotional for it.

But yeah, recommending this to everyone I know that likes to read.

Didn't expect much, so I was surprised. The stories weren't that predictable and the first book is way better then the movie. The only thing I didn't like was the fact, that in the end she did get the guy and they sex and _of course_ something bad happends. Is that the way to say: Don't have sex before marriage?

Refreshing books, don't be fooled by the title (review for books 1 to 6)

I purchased these books after watching the film and getting the impression that there was a lot missing, lore wise and tonally. Hoo boy was I more correct than I realised. Firstly, whilst I think it's for marketing, calling it vampire academy is a bit of a misnomer as the plot isn't based on the school for the most part, and more than half the series takes place outside of school. So if that's putting you off, give it a try and remember the adage to not judge a book by its cover (or title). I found this series so refreshing for a YA/ vampire novel because the world building allows for more complex themes to emerge about class struggles, morality, life and death, revolution and slow change. It also builds on classic vampire lore in a way that gives logic to some elements and allows for a consistent plot without a convenient deus ex machina. No plot point comes cheaply and fits into a solid arc across all 6 books, with excellent set up and payoff. Expectations will be subverted and not for shock value, which is nice to see. The romance is nicely slotted into the plot, without it becoming the main focus, but at the same time really gives you something to root for. It's also refreshing to see a bond that is more realistic and explores the reality of loss and grief when love goes beyond idealistic infatuation (quite common in romance). The characters are well rounded with flaws that make them interesting and realistic. But most of all, there is great pacing that keeps you turning the pages waiting for the next part of the story, and makes you feel wholeheartedly for the characters, putting you right there in the story with them. It's not often this happens but I read all 6 books, 2,300 pages in 4 days, which is a mark of how the story draws you in.

Unpopular vampy opinion.

I tried. I read the first Vampire Academy a couple years ago and was not a fan, but when I knew I was going to host #vampirathon, I thought I should give the series another try. After committing to the next two books in the series, I borrowed them from a friend and went in with an open mind.

This series is so popular that I knew I must be missing something, or I figured that as the series went on it got better. After reading the first three books I can now say with complete surety, “I do not like these books”.

Is it my dislike of Rose, and all her selfishness and immaturity? Or her anger issues? Maybe it’s the weird teacher/student romance that we are all supposed to get behind? It could be the uneventful plots or the weird vampire lore in this one that makes them either crazy or weak. I’m just not a fan. I’m sorry to all the die hard fans out there, I really tried.

What is a series or book that you gave more than one try but still didn’t like?

Clean rating: 🧼🧼1/2 for language, blood, and passionate kissing and then in the third book, sex that is essentially statutory rape.

A great story about how humans and vampyers are Able to live together and the connection between a vampyre (Lissa) and her best friend (Rose) who is training to be her bodyguard. In the meantime a lot of politics is into play. All the vampyers have a Power connected to the Elements of nature. However, Lissa has a special gift which gave her the ability to heal people. When they were young, Lissa and Rose were in a Car accident which was fatal for Rose, but Lissa brought her back to life. As a result, Rose is able to read Lissa's mind and can see through her eyes. This makes everything much more interesting. I really like the writing style and it is very relatable and funny.

Though I was way outside of the YA age group when I read this I loved it! If you weren't hooked by the first book ... you will be now!

The world was SO well created and the characters jump off the page. It is easy to fall in love or hate with them.

Each book got better as you grew to know the characters, there dynamics and the conflicts in their world! Plenty of action and MUCH better done than the movie that followed years later!

Three books into the series and I can't wait for more ... Bring on Book 4!

Is the gain really worth the loss?

Rose Hathaway knows her duty, protect Vasilissa Dragomir at all costs. That's why they left the school in the first place. Being dragged back wouldn't change anything, until it did. With the loss of friends and loved one's, suddenly things are different.
Rose is a great character, probably the greatest in the whole book. She is sassy and isn't afraid to take risks to achieve the goals she desires.
A must read for all lovers of the supernatural world
