Thanks Rosanne. I found it on the internet somewhere. I do have a black cat and I can imagine him reading like this when we're all at work and school. He's 'that' kinda guy. LOL!
I'm not sure if this as been asked, but i was wondering how you put the nickname or second line next to your name
i.e Mandy get your spoilers here!
thanks
sorry to use you mandy :D

Melanie the grey nickname in italics is available to moderators only. You can edit your own name if you would like by editing your profile. It would not appear the same as Mandy's nickname.
hazar! i see i had a feeling it would be something like that i was just curious as to why some had it and some did not thanks gail :D

Would appreciate any help.
cheers

This is the html code you need just remove the @ from the above code and replace the http address of the photo you want to post.

Sorry Geoff, over my head :( Maybe Mandy or Gail might have some idea....

She has put it on her book shelf of books she has won! If you win books on goodreads they like you to identify them as such. I think it's an attempt to encourage others to enter the give-away competitions.

thanks Gail.

Also, Geoff, she may enter other contests besides GR's giveaways, and have books that she won elsewhere on that shelf. Just FYI, probably TMI.

That's actually how i found out about the spoiler html. Awesome isn't it! :o)

Wow, that's worth a look when I've got lots of spare time, thanks Mandy..:)

I can't see how to get to the 'Places' page except via a book which has the setting entered as part of its description, so I'll put the links here:
’Places‘ (all locations where books are set)
Books set in Australia
Example of a book where the setting is listed in the book details
From what I can see you can't add the 'setting' in the initial ’Add a New Book page‘.
You have to go into the 'edit details' of a book that's already been created: Example (look down the bottom of the page. You click on ‘add a new setting‘).
There are some problems with this feature.
* The 'Places' page is not searchable. You have to go through each page to find what you want. Luckily for us Australia is on the second page, HOWEVER...
* When you 'add a new setting' to a book you are prompted for the place name. The 'country' is optional. But if you just write the place name (e.g. Dubbo) and not the country you'll never find the book in an 'Australia' search.
* There seems to be no direct link to the 'Places' page. You have to go via individual books.
So if this feature interests you there is a discussion about it in the Goodreads Feedback group you can check out.:)

Ice King / Liverpool / 1804 and it works :-o)
Not that I expected not to work, I was more bothered about me getting it right!

cheers
Geoff
You need to go
1) into edit your profile.
2) Click on the tab Notifications.
3) untick all the boxes that identify emails to be sent, don't forget to click on [none] for notifications from your groups.
4) Don't forget to reset it on your return or we will come hunting you. :)

Mandy, thanks so much for that tip. I hadn't added the settings to my children's books and they're all set in Australia. I've just added that important feature. You beauty!

Go to your name at the top right of the page. Click on the down arrow and select 'my account'. (you may be prompted to sign in at this stage) Click on the 'notifications' tab. This is the page where you control all the information that is sent to you.
Go about 2/3 down the page (below your list of groups) and you will see 'unsubscribe from all Goodreads emails'. Click on that. You will be able to unclick it when you get back from holidays.:)
Oops! I didn't realise we had gone on to a new page and you've already answered it. Thanks Gail!!:)

Possibly you didn't close your tag off correctly when using the html.
When I mean close it'll look something like <@strike>book<@/strike>
to show the code i added the @. But find your end code which should have the strike and make sure the / is infront of strike.
So it'll look like <@/strike> (again ingnore the @)

Thanks I'll try again

Sweet :D! Glad it worked ^_^

I am new to the Aussie Goodreads group. Thank you for your instructions on creating an Aussie Readers Goodreads 'button.' I have just added one to my site.
In less than 24 hours with this group, I have already started networking with fellow Aussie readers and blogs- it is great!
Thanks again!
Jayne

I'm from Sydney too, but have now moved to the Mid Nth Coast. You'll love it here, Jayne. So many wonderful people.

I'm amazed, Mandy. Who gathers all this information. Laurel

Every day or so I receive an email advising me of all the discussions that have taken place on Aussie Readers. I used to be notified of the other groups I belong to as well, but that no longer happens. I've checked my status on those groups and it is the same as ever, and the same as what I've selected for Aussie Readers.
So why don't I get told about those groups discussions too?
I don't know why it's been happening Maggie. I have had the same problem, every now and again. It seems, with me, a little like...if you are not active in the group/on the thread for a certain period of time, you don't get the updates, until you are active again. Even tho it says 'you are following this discussion'.... That's my guess, but it may not be the case.....

Carmel? Laura? I don't know Sally, I've got the same list, and I didn't do anything to put it there...I thought it was just a GR thing that happened automatically, they 'see' what you read, and put the covers of some of them at the top of the profile page??

Then you'll just need to click on 'feature' on whichever bookshelf you want to feature on your front page. That should make it work :)
