Which LIST book did you just finish?
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Fun enough read but I'm a little baffled at its inclusion on the list.
Finally finished Pilgrimage by Richardson, not easy to track down, but the library managed to get the 4 volumes from around the country, Essex, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire.
Midnight's Children -RushdieThis one took me a short while to adjust to his tone and pace, but after that passed, this was wonderful, exciting, and epic!
I've just finished Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, I thought it was similar to The Grapes of Wrath in the sense of the shock ending, I enjoyed that it was a shorter story too.
I just finished Get Shorty by Elmore Leonard. Given how many mystery/crime novels I read, I thought I would have enjoyed this book more.
Mikela wrote: "Just finished Arrow of God. It was good but I enjoyed Things Fall Apart more."Exactly what I felt too. I'm glad I read both though.
Deanne wrote: "Finally finished Pilgrimage by Richardson, not easy to track down, but the library managed to get the 4 volumes from around the country, Essex, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire."Your local librarian must love you...you give them the opportunity to play that detective game, "where's that book?" It probably makes their day when you walk in.
Just finished Adam Bede - I intially hated this but as I then skim-read the long winded descriptive passages I started finding a love for the story itself. Glad I've finished though!
I just finished "The Midnight Examiner" by William Kotzwinkle. Hailed in its write-up in the list as "impossible to put down", I am pleased to find that I am one who defies the impossible. Not quite a turd but definitely within smelling distance.
Laini wrote: "Just finished Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson." I love Jane Austen!
I just finished The Red Queen by Margaret Drabble....and I just didn't really enjoy the concept of the 'ghost' writer..... too much of an intrusive mechanism for telling the story.

2.) "Tono-Bungay " by H. G. Wells [Rating: 4]

I loved it too. Lots of tension kept the pages turning.
My first list novel finished in 2013 is:Wittgenstein's Mistress - David Markson
I suggest reading about this novel before beginning it, but it is worth the read.
Wittgenstein’s Mistress
Was given a H.G. Wells compendium for Christmas and have just knocked off "The Time Machine". Good fun.
Just finished There but for the from the new edition and Invisible. Liked them both, and they are reviewed at http://bethslistlove.wordpress.com/20...
My first finished cab off the rank for 2013 was The Black Prince by Iris Murdoch and I LOVED it! This year is off to a good start :)All my 1001 reads are captured here:

Dbolden, Totally agree with you on Iris Murdoch who is one of my favorite authors. By the way, I love the way you have done your website, using quotes from the books rather than reviews, and what I assume are original photos of the books in different settings. Very creative, very beautiful and meaningful and very nicely done!
Just finished Ficciones by Jorge Luis Borges. A collection of short stories published 1944, author is brilliant.
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. Nice twists and turns. Read it cold without too much info before starting. Finished The Comfort of Strangers by Ian McEwan earlier in the week. Terrific. I'm enjoying him more as I read more of his books.

It gets a little difficult to keep coming up with new ones, but I enjoy the challenge! The quotes are the best way for me to remember what I liked about each book :)
Just finished Requiem for a Dream. It was difficult to get into the writing style and the subject matter is no picnic, either. I enjoyed the characterization; their downward spiral is perversely compelling.
Just finished the delightful book Pippi Longstocking and while I fell in love with Pippi I'm at a loss as to why a childrens book is on the list. Did I make a mistake here?
Just finished The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Great little novella with a big message but also enjoyed learning the background of the story as much as the story.
I finally finished Anna Karenina after reading it off and on over three years. It was very well written, I did not like the characters too much except for Levin and Kitty.
Finished Breakfast of Champions and I loved it. It made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion and certainly gave me a new appreciation of beavers. Probably the best American satirist by far.
Just finished Slammerkin. Based on the true account of a prostitute in the 1700's, it was VERY sad, but I understand why it made the list, although I honestly don't recall which version it came from...

Good book and it's on a couple of Best Historical Fiction lists here at Goodreads but it is not on the 1001 Books list and certainly was not on the "official" 1001 Books To Read Before You Die Compilations.

Will definitely be reading more of him in 2013.
