These are the books that I have to read, should I get through them I do have some others, but I think I will be pushing it with these 4.
I have read the Kate Daniels story in Dark and Stormy Knights (had to read it the day it came out) but I am looking forward to reading all the short stories ;-)Checking in a bit early...putting on headphones to listen to Undead & Unappreciated while cleaning stalls....I really really enjoy this series....the narrator is great and I have to say as much fun as it is to read I think I enjoy listening to them more
I'll check back in in about an hour ;-)
I actually starting reading at 11:30am, I had finished the things I had planned to get done so thought I would jump right in. I started with Demon Blood and am 154 pages in. Slightly slow start, but is now picking up, which is good. The MJD books are good, especially the early ones, it should be a good distraction while doing your chores.
Talk to you in an hour.
Just finished my chapter and thought it was a good spot to hop back here. I am over half way through this first book now.
I am an hour into the book.....pretty good so far but seems to lack some of the humor in the previous two books so far....she seems to be in "pity party" mode....she just received the invitation to the baby shower.....How is Demon Blood? I have the series in my TBR....I have not read anything by this author yet.
Well I will continue to listen and do some more chores....I will check in again soon
About 2 hours in, Chapter 10 she just found out about her sister who is the daughter of the Devil....stopping now to start
, the fist story is Devil's Bargain by Christine Warren
Hey Dawn, thanks for stopping by.Demon Blood is a good one. If you like books with Angels, Demons, and Vampires this is a good one. Some times they get a little wordy as in the first couple of books they are heavy in world building, but I like them. I am 100 pages from finishing this first book.
Betsy does tend to get into pity mode pretty fast in these books.
I bet you have finished the first book.....so what are ya reading now?Just finished The Robber Bride...pretty good, I have not read anything by Marjorie Liu before...actually the only author in this anthology that I have read before is Christine Warren....this puts me at 51% of the book (sometimes I wish the kindle gave page numbers instead of percentage...)and now I am rambling...
I need more caffeine so will be listening to the audio book again as I drive to Starbucks for my Iced Mocha with extra shots of espresso ;-)
I did indeed finish Demon Blood, have moved on to Red Hot Fury, am about 60 pages in. I am not sure what I think of this one yet.Your Starbucks run sounds good, if it wasn't so blasted hot here I would make a run myself, but I don't want to leave the air. :)
I have tried to read Marjorie Liu before and didn't care for her, but I have friends here that love her.
I don't have an e-reader, but not knowing the page numbers would drive me nuts. I have to know that stuff, why, I have no idea.
Nichole I have the same problem with the Kindle reader. I hate not being able to see the page numbers. Its like you never know when its going to end and what kind of progress your making.
I am stopping in a little earlier than the hour mark, as I took a break from paper books while I fixed dinner and ate it, early I know, but I was hungry, and listened to the audio book I have going now, The Crush, so now that, that is done, back to the paper books.
it's pretty warm here too but we get a nice cool breeze this time of the afternoon...we are about 45 minutes from Monterey so we get the coastal breeze...but caffeine is a MUST if I am going to keep reading without falling asleep.....Danielle ~ maybe one amazon will do a software update that will give page numbers....
so Betsy just read to long from the book of the dead and became the evil yet still funny betsy.....now I am going to read Down In The Ground Where The Dead Men Go by Caitlin Kittredge
Okay so I read a couple of chapters of the Caitlin Kittredge story and it just could not keep my interest so have skipped to the last story Sin Slayer by Jenna Maclaine
I am up to page 166 in my book.I find Caitlin Kittredge a hit or miss author, some stuff I really like others, not so much.
I am in MN and we are in the hot, humid part of summer. I have had my air on for the last 3 weeks, which is unusual, it doesn't usually last this long. When I got home from the farmer's market this morning at 8am it was starting to get unbearable.
Fortunately this year there have not been to many hot days...only a few in the triple digits....but the coastal wind starts up around 3pm and usually cools us down...I really hate it when it is already unbearably hot so early in the morning Just finished Sin Slayer by Jenna Maclaine....really good story....now I am going to buy the first book in the series
.... so the Huntress anthology is finished and I am now moving onto
, the first story is Whisper of Sin by Nalini Singh
I am up to page 257 of my book, about 70 pages from the end, so I should have it finished by the next check in.I am glad to hear good things about the Sin Slayer series, I thinking of checking that one out.
Burning up is one of the anthologies that I have been looking forward to, so am glad to hear what you think of it.
I just finished book #2, Red Hot Fury, not sure what I think of it. Will start #3, Unperfect Souls next.
I don' think that I will get it finished before we are done, as we are down to our last hour. I really thought I would get farther today, but that is ok. I not have a better idea of what will be more realistic for tomorrow.
I just finished Whisper of Sin....this was a psy-changeling short story and was very good....have only read the first book in that series so far...I ended up getting sidetracked with the guild hunter series...The next story is Blood and Roses by Angela Knight
Just finished Blood and Roses another good one...I really like Angela Knights books......next story is Shifting Sea by Virginia Kantra....I should be able to finish this in then next hour
Well I am at the end for me today. I am 96 pages into my 3rd book. My totals for today's hours are:
2 1/3 books
847 pages
2 disc's on my audio book
I am reading 5 hours long tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how that goes. One thing that I did notice was the longer the day went on the slower I read, not by a lot, but enough for me to notice.
Nichole - It was fun to read with you!!
Okay so maybe I did not have enough coffee....I was thinking I had another hour ;-)So I finished 1 1/2 books and 3/4 of the audio book....
Huntress was 352 pages....not sure how many pages Burning Up is....
I thought the reading would seem faster with the anthologies and several stories but it seemed longer....go figure...
Darcy it was fun reading with you....I will let you know how the other two stories in Burning Up are (the first two were GREAT) good luck tomorrow ;-)
Thanks Nichole!!I agree with you that it seemed like things should be reading faster than what they actually did.
Congrats on both of you for finishing part of your read-a-thon!!@Darcy - Red Hot Fury was a real disappointment for me. How did you end up liking it?
