Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I really liked these books, but know thinking about them, I really don't remember what happened. At all. Except that there was some sort of trap for a bunch of faeries and this hot evil guy in Captivate. . .O.o I will have to re-read these before the third one comes out or else I'm going to be really confused.

& the really weird part is that I LOVED these books. . .I have no clue as to why I can't remember them. O.o I might buy these in the near future. :)

I just saw the cover for book 3. It's pretty. I feel the same way. I love them when I'm reading them, but a few weeks later I forget the details. It's easy to pick them back up though and get back into them.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I like all the covers, and how they are so clearly part of a series. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I've had a few negative posts recently, but I swear I like the majority of what I read!

That said, I didn't like Need so I didn't read the followup. The pixies creeped me out for some reason. Is Captivate better? Some series do get better as they go.

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I don't remember them all that much, but from my review I gather I liked Captivate a little more.

I enjoyed them, but wouldn't buy them. I think I liked book 2 a little more, but not much more. The pixies were creepy. I didn't expect that. Although, that was at a time when I had only had Sookie for a fae reference and I don't think others agree with fairy strippers and all. =)

message 8: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) I've read both and thought they were ok. I will continue to read the series, but I will definately have to re-read the first two to jog my memory. I will say that I hated the way Capitvate ended. The actions the characters took didn't make sense to me.

**********SPOILER*************

Why would they go to a dance when Zara's "love of her life" is sitting in some room suffering? I personally would not be able to enjoy prom when I know I could be trying to form some plan to save my boyfriend. I just didn't feel the warm fuzzies that I'm sure Jones wanted be to feel at the end of Capitvate.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I agree with you guys here. They are a good solid read, but nothing super great.

message 10: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments How do you pronounce Zara's name when you're reading? Sometimes I hear a Sara with a Z in my head other times I have the czar/bazaar-ah and then I'll go and alternate trying to decide which I like best, or trying to remember if she ever said how it's pronounced and then it just completely takes me out of the story.

message 11: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I pronounce it Zhara.

message 12: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I say Zhara too.

Tya | 846 comments I just finished Endure (Need, #4) by Carrie Jones I loved it! I've got to say that I loved how true to the characters Carrie Jones kept everyone instead of taking the easy way out at times and while I didn't think that I would (view spoiler) was this the last in the series or is there another?

message 14: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I am glad that you liked it Tya. I thought the book was aptly named and I felt like I endured reading it and was glad that things ended.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I've been meaning to keep up on this series. Sounds like they stay good.

message 16: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments You weren't a fan, Darcy? I thought that the last few chapters went super fast and I'm never particularly fond of (view spoiler) My only gripe was with Carrie's sentence structure. At times it seemed really abrupt and it would pull me right out of whats going on...like she has an aversion to contractions and I would read a sentence and think to myself, "Who really speaks like that?" but I loved it.

message 17: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I thought the first 80% was super slow. I kept putting the book down and grabbed a different one to read in between.

message 18: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I keep doing that with The Watchers: Isle of Night. I think the hype for that book was possibly too much. I keep hearing how its better than The Hunger Games and all I can think is: Its slower than The Hunger Games, thats for sure...and that book started pretty slow.

I agree with you about that series too.

I finally finished. The best thing about this series?... the covers. The books are fine, but I wouldn't feel like I missed out if I never read them. A solid 3 star series all the way through.

Doesn't it seem like there are a lot of book that are like that?

message 22: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments Oh I certainly feel that way about The Luxe (Luxe, #1) by Anna Godbersen
I see the cover and go "oooh pretty!" and I try and read the book and say "ooooh pretty boring!"

message 23: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I like the series well enough, but I didn't really like the ending. Mostly because I keep completely forgetting what happened, checking the book out from the library and being disappointed all over again.

message 24: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments Ok. In June 2012 I finished this series and up above I'm all gushing and filled with the love and then a year and a half later I'm all...book. Book. You are a disappointment to fans of books everywhere! And the sad part of it is....something about this series obviously resonated with me because I'm still checking it out from the library going...have I read this? This looks interesting. Or, upon realizing that I have read the series going, oh! But it hasn't ended yet. It has ended. But whatever I enjoyed so much from the beginning of the series certainly didn't stick to the end because I still have no memories of the ending whatsoever. (Maybe it means I should read it again!)

There was a big fight at the end. In an auditorium? Community center? Something like that.
