Try to take over the world!

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments The Maze Runner is another good series if you like THG. The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I'll second Maze Runner and its sequel, Scorch Trials. Also Unwind.

Carri (carrifedor) | 145 comments Did anyone eles read that S. Collins is also helping to write the screen play for the Hunger Games movie?

message 57: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 65 comments She wrote it, and Billy Ray, a screenwriter, checked it, so It's pretty much coming from her mind, so fingers crossed it'll be as amazing as the books.

message 58: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 35 comments I loved this series. At first I was afraid that I wouldn't, but it did not take me long to get sucked in.
**Spoilers**
I think the first book is my fav with Mocking Jay falling in last. Love them all, but one has to be on top. The second one I could not believe she and Peeta had to go back in. President Snow creeps me out. Parts of the second one and most of the third one had me so sad with either the characters I love dyine or the way Peeta had been brain washed. I am glad she ended up with him in the end though. It just would not have felt right after all they had been through if she had ended up with Gale. Saddened by the way it was decided though.

message 59: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I would have to say that the 1st is my favorite too. I think it is because it was so "out there", you could hardly believe what you were reading. Everytime you thought the worst had happened you turned the page and read more horrible things.

message 60: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 65 comments I love the second one, though. It really upped the ante.

message 61: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 35 comments I agree, plus I love happy endings and felt like I got a good one at the end of the first book.

message 62: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 432 comments I read somewhere recently they're getting the guy that directed Pleasantville and and Seabiscuit...I'll think I'm okay with that. What do you all think?

message 63: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 65 comments Pleasantville is awesome!
He's probably the best choice, because when he went in for the interview, he brought tapes of interviews he'd conducted with the fans, asking what the thought of the book, and what they thought Katniss should be.
He wants this to be great, just like the fans, so I'm loving him lately.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments The role of Katniss has been cast for the movie.

The "Winter's Bone" actress has landed the coveted role in the movie that pits children against each other in a competitive duel to the death, reportedly beating out fellow Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.

Samantha | 432 comments Oh, no! She did a good job in Winter's Bone, but I don't know if I can see her as Katniss.
If they cast Pettyfer as Peeta, I will not be a happy camper.

Seriously. I'm willing to give the girl a chance, but I'm not a fan of their Peta options.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Ya, they almost needed someone with hawaiian or Indian in the background, but maybe they'll fix her with make-up. Or, they'll just make her a blonde beauty and pull the Hollywood junk they normally do to book characters.

Oh, Finnick would be a much better option for him.

As far as with Katniss, I think they went the safer route, but it's not like they were asking me, lol. I was also hoping for someone that was a bit more of a newcomer, someone that I could really picture as Katniss.

message 69: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I imagine Katniss with an Appalachian look. I think that's how Collins describe her. It's a very distinctive look. Her district was in that area.

message 70: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments She doesn't look anything like Katniss, but I will wait to see how she does and how they transform her.

I love Alex, but Peeta? Nope. Maybe if he did play Peeta they would make his role a bit better, like as in not so sappy. Sorry, I'm not a Peeta lover.

message 71: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I haven't seen any of this girls movies, but I don't have the "oh no" that you guys do with her. She seems ok to me.

But the guy for Peeta, no way!

message 72: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Well, Appalachian's look just like who they've cast, being from there myself.

message 73: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I don't think she's that bad, but I don't really remember what she's supposed to look like. I know my friend mentioned someone perrfect for Peeta, but I don't remember. >< I'll have to ask her.

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Ed Speelers looks just like how I predicted Peeta to be, especially when he talks in Mockingjay. I don't know, he kinda has an edge to him in Mockingjay that he didn't have in the other books(which I had a vague description of him) and now, I see him exactly like Ed Speelers.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

This is the first time I've ever been involved with a book so much that I actually care about the casting and the casting of all three leads makes me angry/sad/butthurt. I don't think ANY of them look like the characters and I'm disappointed that they had the chance to cast a minority/someone with a darker skintone than beige and didn't take it. This book has a massive fanbase and I highly doubt nobody would come to watch if their lead was a bit darker. But atleast Jennifer Lawrence casting is more justified since she is a good actrice (I haven't watch Winters Bone yet, but this is what people tell me). Also josh hutcherson is the only one who can pass for 16-18 and he would look so weird next to Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hensworth who both look about mid-twenties

I really wanted Hunter Parrish for Peeta :(

message 76: by Angela (new)

Angela B I can't say that I'm thrilled with the casting either...were is the District 12 olive skin for Katniss and Gale

Z, that's the guy in Weeds isn't it?

Mairead | 65 comments Tehehe, it's okay Stacia :D
Elizabeth Banks could be good :) I always though Effie was older.

message 80: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 432 comments I think she could be good, but you're right, I thought she was older, too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I think Rue and Thresh were good choices. I really wanted Kristin Chenowith for Effie because I also pictured her older, but Banks isn't the worst choice either. I can live with it.

And Marvel/Glimmer have been cast.

I think the girl might have played Lily on All My Children a long time ago. If so, she played an autistic girl well, so her acting is not bad.

I really like the casting of Effie

message 86: by Carri (new)

Carri (carrifedor) | 145 comments Yep, that is totally the girl from All My children. and wow, Kristen Chenowith would have been perfect for Effie! But I have also loved Elizabeth Banks since she was on Scrubs (my favorite show of all time!).

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments I keep expecting Mairead to update here when she updates in the HG group, so I don't think to always check, but this is the cast for Prim.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday and forgot to post it because I was going out, sorry. :)
I put it in the other group though
She's so cute. I think she'll make a great Prim.

message 90: by Carri (new)

Carri (carrifedor) | 145 comments She looks younger than I imagine Prim. But I can't remember exactly how old Prim is supposed to be.

message 91: by Carri (new)

Carri (carrifedor) | 145 comments Umm... and isn't her coloring kinda off? Thought district 12 was supposed to be kinda dark in complexion?

message 92: by Mairead (new)

Mairead | 65 comments rim is meant to be 12, and Prim is meant to be small and cute, and I always picture her younger than 12, plus she looks like she and Jennifer could be related, so it's all good in the proverbial hood :D
