Yes.

Valerie Bertinelli, probably.

message 362: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It sure isn't Orson Welles.

I don't think LG is Orson Welles either.

Thank you Phil. At least someone out there feels my pain. (Or the pain of his partner!)

message 365: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Right now I am off to volunteer at Hospice House. Really, I have NOTHING to complain about. Hospice puts it all in perspective.

message 366: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) It bugs me when authors leave a 5 star rating on their own book.

I hate that one too! Also, when I hate when I notice that an author is giving an excessive amount of one or two star reviews; it's like they're trying to bring other writers down to assert their superiority.

Sarah | 13814 comments Janice wrote: "It bugs me when authors leave a 5 star rating on their own book."

I don't mind it. I guess they could choose to not rate their book, but really, I don't mind if they have some pride. As long as it isn't the only book on their shelves.

message 371: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I don't care at all what authors do with thier own books on thier own shelves.

message 372: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
I don't mind if the author is clearly identified as the author and rates 5 stars. It is annoying though if you can clearly tell the book is crap and a bunch of the author's cronies have given it 5 stars.

message 373: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I saw one of those a couple of days ago, and you could tell the book really sucked (the premise alone was lame) but it had an inordinate number of 5 star reviews. The occasional review that wasn't a 5 was a 1.

My sympathies, Cynthia. When it comes to trying to get some sleep, the summer is worse. A ceiling fan helps. And I wouldn't recommend a memory foam bed. Very hot! They should put that bit of info in the ads.

Shaunna McLaren (shaunnareads) Dripping taps, loud breathers and noisy eaters!

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 140 comments People who say "yous guys."

message 381: by Allison (new)

Allison (thebookwheel) or when people say "my moms"

message 382: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
When do people say "my moms?" I take it these are not children of two lesbian parents.

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 538 comments I guess this shouldn't bug me, but...........when hubby is across the room or, perhaps, walks up to me while i'm seated and puts his hands out, palms up and beckons me to come to him. grrrrrrrrrrrr. He only ever wants a kiss or hug but I've told him it pisses me off and he still does it!! Dammit! I don't know why, but somehow I feel "Less" when he does it (if that makes any sense).

message 384: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart It makes sense. I mean, it does seem like a gesture that someone would make to a little girl.

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 538 comments Shaunna wrote: "Dripping taps, loud breathers and noisy eaters!"

Noisy eaters and 'smackers' just grate on my nerves. Being a daycare provider I hear it every day. The worst, though, is my husband. Oh. My. God. If his mouth isn't wide fucking open he's chewing so hard it is still loud. I try. I really do. But retraining a 35 year old man is near to impossible. His mother does the same thing. Meals with the two of them are torture.

message 386: by Allison (new)

Allison (thebookwheel) Lobstergirl wrote: "When do people say "my moms?" I take it these are not children of two lesbian parents."

It means "mom" but it's a ghetto slang term.

Smackers are the worst.

message 389: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I am really sick of ads for "The Help" and "One Day" on the right in every topic on TC. I don't need to see Anne Hathaway swallowing her co-start with her giant mouth or Emma Stone with curls every minute.

message 390: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I received an email from a contractor with my company yesterday, and it bugs me still. She, a professional who owns her own small business, began an email like this: "How come it took you so long to ask me this?"

If it were up to me, I would never be able to do business with her again. Not only is it a rude question, it is horribly written and sounds like it came out of the mouth of a whiny 10-year-old. It's very frustrating to know that she makes in a month what I make in a year.

message 391: by Michael (new)

Michael Something that bugs me that probably shouldn't is people who lack courtesy and don't say thank you.

message 392: by Cynthia (last edited Jul 28, 2011 02:51PM) (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Michael, polite and courteous behavior seems to be a lost art. We have to keep reminding folks how to be decent and kind.

message 393: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Thanks for the reminders, Michael and Cynthia.

message 394: by Julie (new)

Julie (jooliaaah) Coworkers who complain about it being too cold when the AC is set to 72. I mean, if you are freezing in 72 degrees, you should probably see your doctor.

message 395: by Lee (new)

Lee | 701 comments lol....you are so correct, Julie! Have a few of these folks at work also.

message 396: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I play scrabble, backgammon, and yahtzee online. It never ceases to amaze me that people have lost the common courtesy to wish their opponent good luck or to thank them at the end of the game. I always say, "Hi, and good luck!" Some people do respond, but other's either completely ignore the greeting or they reply with "ty".

message 397: by Michael (new)

Michael Larry wrote: "Thanks for the reminders, Michael and Cynthia."

You're welcome. You've always appeared to me as being very polite though.

Michael Janice wrote: "I play scrabble, backgammon, and yahtzee online. It never ceases to amaze me that people have lost the common courtesy to wish their opponent good luck or to thank them at the end of the game. I ..."

Janice, where do you play backgammon online? I wonder if some of that isn't rudeness, but maybe because people aren't comfortable with the chat thing that goes along with the games?

message 399: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I play on http://www.itsyourturn.com/ - for some people, it could be that. I've seen some people put "No Chatting" in with their avatar.

I'm MzzJan there if anyone wants a game. I should mention that the names on some of the games and their rules have been changed because of copywrite issues. Scrabble is called Jamble. Yahtzee is Boatzee

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 538 comments Michael wrote: "Something that bugs me that probably shouldn't is people who lack courtesy and don't say thank you."

I totally agree, Michael!! My husband has told me I say thank you far too often. Huh? Not possible. I'd include people who are chatting on their cell or whatever and nearly bowl you over. Instead of saying excuse me (which I do automatically, even when I know it wasn't my fault) they look at you with total distain and keep walking. How rude!!
