What is a reed? I think it's some instrument thing right?

Schnitzel is a German food, it's almost like chicken, with this crusty stuff over it, and you put lemon on it....
And it's delicious.

And you're pretty much right, yeah.
Only its not in all Winds, only the Reed Instruments. Like the Saxophone and the Clarinet and the Bassoon and the Oboe and the...well, you get the point. It's flat and thin, about 1/2-3/4 of an inch wide and 2 1/2 inches long, and you put it in your mouth for a while before you put it on the mouthpiece of your instrument to get it wet, otherwise your instrument won't play. :)
