Exotic . . .sigh. I haven't seen exotic is years!! We are taking kids to the beach in October, probably. So not exotic with a squabble of children along but it's better than nothing.
Where are you going?
We're just driving to St. George Utah and using that as our "home base" and then going through Zion National Park. Nothing major, just a chance to get away for a few days.

At 12, 10, and 7 I'm not exactly up to a plane ride NOR a car trip with them for that lenght of time. Somebody might come back strangled. ;-)
We will. A friend of the hubby's took his honeymoon there and said it was awesome! My goal is to travel to all of the 50 states at least once. My gparents used to take a 3 week trip every summer and drive from here (GA) to Vegas and back in an RV. I'd like to do something like that. again, when the kids are older!
I don't travel very well anymore, and this is going to be quite a test of my... endurance? Stamina? We'll see how it goes! When my kids were 2, 5 and 16 we loaded up the family and drove from California to Louisiana. THAT was a nightmare! LOL
You girls are talking about my neck of the woods. Yellowstone IS awesome and so is the surrounding areas. Cody, Jackson, Devil's tower, etc. etc. Wyoming is such an amazing state. We just found out near Sheridan there is Polo, who would have thought? So we are going next weekend, can't wait. You can drive your car up to the grass and have a picnic and watch a polo match. I love watching horses run.

Wow! LOL! The farthest we've traveled with the children has been 6 hours. If we can't drive it in less than 6 hours with a car full of children, we don't go. They are getting older and easier some days. Very few days. One day a week maybe.
Katherine wrote: "You girls are talking about my neck of the woods. Yellowstone IS awesome and so is the surrounding areas. Cody, Jackson, Devil's tower, etc. etc. Wyoming is such an amazing state. We just found..."LOL!! I can see me dragging my redneck DH to a polo match! LOL!! Fun, fun.
Mandy, it was quite a challenge to drive that far. My husband is a "talker" and wouldn't stop explaining to my 2 year old why he needed to try harder to plan ahead and pee in the restaurants or rest stops. 2 years old. Anyway, I was driving along and he'd been going on for a good 10 minutes and I looked up in the rear view mirror ready to tell him to shut up already, just in time to see my 2 year old slap him across the face. LOLOLOL I know it wasn't nice, but I laughed and laughed because damnit, I was ready to do the same thing.
LOL!! My husband is a talker too. Drives me BATTY! He does the same thing to all of us. . .in his mind he's just "looking after" his girls and I appreciate the sentiment, but it's enough to make me zone out. I've begun noticing the same look on our oldest daughter's face. LOL!
Dhes that is funny. What did your husband do? We go to California once a year and my DH is so cheap we never stop. So 17 hours we drive with 2 boys (now 12 and 7) and sometimes my daughter. It's a long drive but they are really good.
UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "Oh, I LOVED Yellowstone! What an amazing trip that was. I hope you get to do it!!"Yellowstone is one of my favorite places...I visited for the third time last month and had a lot of fun with my niece and nephew who had never been before. :)

To an extent I think I can relate. When my daughter was 6 and I was 10 weeks pregnant with my son we (hubby included) drove from California to Texas where we spent a week with family and then drove from Texas to Virginia.
I'm in! I actually already do this challenge every month for another group, so it'll be like hitting two birds with one stone. (...also, that's a really horrible analogy, now that I've typed it out. Why would you throw stones at birds? I'd think shooting them would be more efficient. Maybe it should be 'like hitting two birds with one bullet'.)
Not sure what the origin or story behind the bird cliche is but its not the only one that sounds cruel. I started to sing Rock A Bye Baby to my daughter and as I came to the end I stopped and thought how horrible and found something else to sing to her.
I was just singing that to myself and it is kind of ick, about a baby falling out a tree! Ring a Roses is a bit like that aswell, isn't it a euphemism for people dying from the black death?
OK, I'm in if that's OK. I've started a couple of these already but I need to finish them so this might give me the incentive. I know I squeaked in the third E but looking at my to read list this is my on ones I want to get to.EDIT- I have replaced my "R" book now and I'm all ready to go.
S Slightly Married- Mary Balogh-completed 3 stars
E Eloisa James- Midnight Pleasures-completed 3 stars
P Paretsky, Sarah - Hardball
T Three Little Secrets- Liz Carlyle- completed 4 stars
E Elliot, George - Adam Bede
M More than a Mistress - Mary Balogh-completed 5 stars
B Ben Kane - The Silver Eagle-completed 3 stars
E L'Engle, Madeleine- A Wrinkle in Time
R Rawn, Melanie - Dragon Prince
I'm in, but there's still so much August reading to do - will wait a little longer before posting & maybe I won't make so many changes!
Ladies, I just got back home so I'm playing catch-up. If you've asked to join this challenge but your name isn't listed, please post again so I can get you added. Thanks!
Robin wrote: "I think you're right about Ring of Roses."Yep- I'm sure that's correct. Has anyone else read Anya Seton's Katherine? - there is a really distinctive scene in there of various people getting drunk and dancing whilst the black death rages through the castle- very gruesome.

Thanks! I have had the Bride for so long and somehow I have not been able to read it this past month.
I thought I'd list some LK books that would fit. I was thinking of editing my list slightly. Unfortunately I really need to change my R (there are no r titles!) as I'm going to be travelling for 10 days in September and I don't think I'll get through 2 classics in the month. They cover S P T M B
Nice list, Mshj - just for your information, the books don't have to be LK books, but I think it's very amazing you've compiled the list!
UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "Nice list, Mshj - just for your information, the books don't have to be LK books, but I think it's very amazing you've compiled the list!"Well I was looking for "R" titles- but of course there aren't any! I might reread Regency Buck. I've already submitted a draft list but revisions are everything.
I'm thinking I'll re-read some E. Lowell to rund out the rest of my E's. I can't find anything else!
I'm trying very hard not to start my challenge early. All those books sitting on the shelf ready to go....and a long bank holiday weekend ahead.
