I've just finished Too Rich for a Bride: A Novel by Mona Hodgson, which was a sweet historical romance. Not a favourite but a nice read nonetheless. I'm now reading Fairer than Morning by Rosslyn Elliott which I'm already captivated by, looks like it's going to be an excellent book.
I finished Plain Proposal by Beth Wiseman early Saturday morning and as I promised Shelter Somerset, I began reading Between Two Worlds.
I just finished The Sweetest Thing and started Rock Bottom. I am having Amish fiction withdrawals and am deciding which book to pick up next! :)
i am reading 2 books right now,Finders Keepers by Catherine Palmer but was at Library for Scrapbooking class so went looking around and had The Amish Midwife by Mindy starns clark so it has more of my attention b/cuz the last 2 books i have read have not been Amish reading, speaking of Amish reading withdrawls.
I am presently reading "Vanish in Plain Sight" by Marta Perry. It is the second book in her Amish suspense series. (The first book is "Murder in Plain Sight.")
I've just started Beyond All Measure by Dorothy Love. I'm not very far into it but it's shaping up to be a great book!
I'm new to this group - but I love Amish fiction. I'm currently reading a big fat book called "Bells of Lowell" by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. Humungeous - 3 books in one....
I read "Secrets to the Grave." It's a terrific book; I couldn't put it down. Then I had to go back and read the first book in this series--also a great read.
I read the first book and loved it! I was so excited to finally get the second!! Glad to hear you enjoyed it Carolyn! I'll be reading it all day today!!
I've just finished Sahm I Am by Meredith Efken and plan to start When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke. I've not actually read anything Amish in a few weeks - how shocking! Will have to make my next one an Amish book :)
Esther wrote: "I'm new to this group - but I love Amish fiction. I'm currently reading a big fat book called "Bells of Lowell" by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller. Humungeous - 3 books in one...."I just finished the Lights of Lowell series and really enjoyed it.
I just started Double Take: A Novel by Melody Carlson, which is a YA novel about a spoiled, rich girl from NY who swaps places with an Amish girl who looks just like her, and the life lessons they learn from each others lives. I don't normally like YA fiction but I jumped at the chance to review anything Amish and I'm really enjoying it so far! Maybe for the younger sisters/daughters who admire your Amish books but aren't quite old enough to read them yet?
I just finished reading "Harmless as Doves" by P. L. Gaus. This is latest Amish-country mystery, and I really enjoyed it. If you have never read any of Gaus's books, they are a little different from the usual Amish stories. In "Harmless as Doves," which takes place in both Holmes County, Ohio, and Pinecraft, Florida, there is a strong interaction between English and Amish, as well as a number of seriously flawed Amish characters. I thought it was a wonderful story. Perhaps I should suggest it for our monthly reading book.
Today I just started reading "A place of peace" by Amy Clipston. I enjoyed the first two books in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series....... And this one I cant seem to put down.
I love to read Amish Fiction Books, but I don't have any idea what Amish Book I should read next. Any ideas?
Calissa: There are so many good Amish fiction books out there that it is hard to suggest any one in particular. One of my current favorite authors is Beth Wiseman. There are also Cindy Woodsmall and Amy Clipston. Karen Harper's "Dark" series has just been reissued ("Dark Angel," "Dark Road Home," and "Dark Harvest") and it is very good. Also, P. L. Gaus's stories are excellent and a little bit different. I have just finished reading his latest book, "Harmless as Doves," and I enjoyed it. (I believe this is his 7th Amish mystery book.)

Any ideas?"Calissa~ It looks like you have read some of Beverly Lewis' young adult books. I would recommend The Storekeeper's Daughter, The Quilter's Daughter and The Bishop's Daughter by Wanda E. Brunstetter in that order! It is a great series and will also give you a chance to read another author.
Also, feel free to join our monthly Amish group read this month which is Abigail's New Hope by Mary Ellis.

Calissa, my suggestion is slanted, but I suggest The Promise of an Angel. (first time author, me :) so I really hope you like it.) Ruth

As an unbiased reviewer, I'd definitely recommend Ruth's book - I just finished reading it and loved it!
Rachel, You truly made my day! Thank you for reading it and sharing your thoughts. Have a great day, Ruth
I will definitely add "The Promise of an Angel" to my "must read" list. It sounds like a wonderful story.

I love getting the chance to read new Amish books and recommending them to the group. Thanks for joining us!
Right now I'm reading two books. I started The Protector by Shelley Shepard Gray but I'm struggling to get into it, so I've taken a break and moved on to Softly and Tenderly by Sara Evans. It was slow to start but has really picked up now. Looking forward to discussing it with you guys :)
Just getting ready to start The Union Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel by Jennifer Chiaverini. It's the latest in the series.
I just finished Softly and Tenderly by Sara Evans, our non-Amish group read. So full of emotion and drama! I'm looking forward to discussing it.I'm trying to finish The Protector by Shelley Shepard Gray right now. I started it a few days ago but I got to 39% and just wasn't being gripped by the story, so maybe going back to it now will help. I normally quite enjoy her books but this one just doesn't have that "pull" about it that makes me want to keep reading. I'm hoping it picks up.
I am about halfway through "Softly and Tenderly" and am enjoying it. I am eager to see how it ends. Hopefully, I can come close to finishing it today.
I've just finished an excellent historical romance, A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley, and now I'm on to a Mennonite romance, Something Old by Dianne L. Christner. I'll keep you guys updated on what I think of the latter :) So far it's enjoyable, but the heroine is quite young so it feels more like a YA novel.
I just finished reading "More than words" by Judith Miller. An Amish type book which kept my interest throughout. It was all about a young girl within the community who had a passion for writing, which of course gets her in trouble!!!
how did u like Amish Midwife Lorie i had trouble really getting into it and felt as it dragged somwhat but towards end it was good and had a good message overall

I've just started In a Mother's Arms: Finally a Family / Home Again by Jillian Hart and Victoria Bylin, which is a really cute book with two historical novellas in it.
Barbara Ann wrote: "Just getting ready to start The Union Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel by Jennifer Chiaverini. It's the latest in the series."
I'm about 1/4 of the way through and am really enjoying this one. It links back to a previous book in the series and it's so nice to have those characters back. (The series crosses generations in the 18 books.)
I have to finish up so that I can get started on a series I have to give back to my mother-in-law in 27 days -- Running Around (And Such); When Strawberries Bloom; and Big Decisions by Linda Byler.

I find that for me, if they look too short, I've passed over them favouring the longer books... I'll have too look out for those two authors...
Esther, I love Jillian Hart, definitely have a look for some of her full-length novels if you don't like novellas, she's written a lot of books. I don't often read novellas but sometimes they're nice for when you've not got a lot of time to read. I've been reading this one in bed every night :)
Been reading The Amish Nanny and its taking me forever to get it read not because the story isn't good, just have not had time my "staycation starts Friday so hopefully I'll get more reading time.
I am reading Divine by Karen Kingsbury for my neighborhood book club. I picked it because I had it as a kindle freebie and I wanted to read something by her. It is really good so far!
I am now reading The Cypress House by Michael Koryta, The Last Time I Was Me by Cathy Lamb, and The Kindness of Strangers by Katrina Kittle.
Susan wrote: "I am now reading The Cypress House by Michael Koryta, The Last Time I Was Me by Cathy Lamb, and The Kindness of Strangers b..."Wow, that's impressive! I can only read one book at a time without getting confused! :)
Iam now reading "Creeds Honor" by Linda Lael Miller but will soon be reading "Amish Midwife" by Mindy Stearns Clark and Leslie Gould!

I'm about to start a book called "The Believer" by Ann H Gabhart. Never read anything else from this author, but it looks like it's a good book and I look forward to starting it later today!!

I read that one. Ann was new to me but my mother-in-law had passed it to me and figured I should read it so I could comment back to her. I thought it was a bit of a slow start, but I did enjoy reading about the Shakers and have since read the other two, Outsider and The Seeker. The Blessed was due out in June.

I've just finished "The Believer" by Ann H Gabhart and thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed reading about the Shakers and their culture. So now I'll have to go out and find the others!! :)
I am reading Courting Ruth byEmma Miller, The Revelation by Beverly Lewis, Montana Dawn by Caroline Fyffe, and Mail-Order MarriagesI am concentrating on Courting Ruth. It's really good and I am liking it a lot.
I finally finished The Amish Nanny. For some reason her books take me forever to read but in the end I love them!
