I had already muscled my way thru the Fever series with that whiniest of whiners, uh...whatshername, so I wasn't going to waste my time with Kincaid. One of the only reasons I stuck with the Fever series was I really wanted to know what the heck was Barrons.
Katay, I love both those series!! Though in all honesty I really would have thought I'd hate the IAD one.
Christie wrote: "The Demonica series is awesome ( even the spinoff series is good) and I plan to get to the Immortals after dark soon..."I love the Demonica series. I've only read the first three.
Carol ~ I'm A Voracious Reader wrote: "@Zafia ~ HEA is Happily Ever After or HFN Happy For Now. "Thanks
I didnt much like the first of the IAD books. Tho i did like the new kinds of immortals.
Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "Katay, I love both those series!! Though in all honesty I really would have thought I'd hate the IAD one."It is so funny isn't it how someone can love something and someone else dislikes it. I am reluctant to mention those two series because they are so well loved.
We are all different....My favorite series of all time is the Fever Series. Yet Carol's opinion is that they sucked and were a waste of time for her.
Getting back to the two series I don't care for...I generally have a problem with Demon books...maybe because of my religion and what my biases are. Could that be why I did not care for Demonica? I am not sure. It is well written and there were parts which were very good...I just did not like them. But then, loved Showalter's Lords of the Underworld Series...so go figure.
I also hit a brick wall in the Christine Feehan Dark eries....around 11 or 12 books in... I think it was
where I lost it and put the series down.....
I like what I like and others like what they like. Same with dislikes. I don't dis anyone on their book choices and I don't expect others to dis my choices. Opinions are just that, opinions, and all the differing opinions is what makes this such an interesting world. Besides, whatever they like I'm just glad people are reading.
Thank you. :) Way back when, many, many years ago, in a galaxy far, far...ok, in Ohio where I grew up I was bored during the Blizzard of '78 and my mom gave me one of her Harlequins to read. I was almost 10 and this was when Harlequins were tame unlike the ones today. Yowza! lol Anyway, my older brother, a book snob, told me "Don't read that garbage. You'll rot your brain."Ok, I know my brother loves me and I love him, but just because he wouldn't read Harlequins was no reason to tell me I would 'rot my brain'. Jeez. Where did he think I learned my vocabulary? School? We didn't have spelling words back then that could be found in a book meant for adults. My kids are learning words like that now, but back then? Nope!
So, anytime I came across a word I didn't know, what did I do? Get out the dictionary! Cynicism/cynical? Dictionary. Laconic? Dictionary. Arrogance? Dictionary. Svelte, lithe, flippant, piquant, etc, etc. Dictionary! Oh! And let's not forget that many of the Harlequins I read were written about people and places in England, so I had to know what the heck things were such as boot, torch, flat, lift, etc, etc.
Rot my brain? Pfffft! I would never say that to someone!

I think the HoN series has backpedaled to appeal to the current generation of YA readers, instead of growing with those who started the series when it was released. I've stopped reading just because the use the term "I heart you/this." it drives me crazy!
I do love me some Johanna Lindsey. :) There isn't much I don't read. Most horror is out of my comfort zone for fiction and I don't read much non-fiction, but other than that? Sky's the limit.I can't think of any other books or series at this time that I didn't like. There are several series listed here that I haven't tried yet. I'll have to stop back after I read them or at least after I read the first book in the series.
Totally agree with you guys on the like/dislike things. I love hearing why other readers don't like books that I do. Especailly when I can see their reasons and understand. ^_-

These two are definitely not my favorites although I read them because I started the series.
As well as Vampire Chronicles,
. I can't seem to pass book
. There are many more, I'll list later.

this series fell very very short fo..."OMG, we agree on almost all. I haven't read the Warren series or Evermore. But based on the fact you didn't like the same books as me, I probably won't read.
Thirst by Christoher PikeNight World by LJ Smith and Vampire Diaries weren't much better. The series blows the books out of the water!
I read some of LJ smiths work, forbidden game and some of night world and uhmm.. I suppose if i took a trip back in time and read the books as a teen i would prolly have fancied them, but as an adult the language, the writing etc just didnt do it for me.They're certainly tagged correctly as YA books and gosh how i hate YA. But to be fair, read them young and they aint to shabby, as an adult yup they'll prolly suck.
I have a special place in my heart for the LJ Smith books from reading them when I was 12-15. However, if I had read them all starting now, I wouldn't have liked them nearly as much. They're honestly not even young adult books, more like young teen. I still re-read them sometimes because of the memories associated with them.
I havent heard about that one before now and even if i stumbled across it, i wouldnt buy it. Looks very much as an YA book.

Susan *ARK* wrote: "I could NOT get into Vampires in America... seemed too political, or detailed or...?"I had heard ppl rave about the Vampires in America series and thought I might like it as well. I read Raphael and it wasn't as great as it was made to sound. It wasn't bad, but average.
I loved house of nights first book and 7th book, but Zoey got on my nerves as she constantly reiterated the same things over and over. xx
I just could not get into the BDB series. I read the first book a long time ago, then when I joined goodreads, I reread it (I forgot I had read it lol) because everyone was going on about it. Second time wasn't any better. It just seems like a harlequin type thing. It is funny how almost any series that goes on too long loses a lot of their readers. I think at some point there just isn't anything left for a character and the plots get ridiculous. Anita Blake is a good example of this. I loved this series so much, in fact it was what brought me into this genre, and I dropped out awhile ago.
Jackie wrote: "I just could not get into the BDB series. Secon..."Sorry, have to jump into this discussion. The first BDB book was borderline awful but the books after got alot better. I loved the series after book 4, especially with the added slash element.
But yeah, I tend to turn off series after they start repeating themselves but I never thought the BDB series had that problem.
I used to enjoy Christine Feehan's work but she has just become terrible. Her Carpathian series has become ridiculous now and only or two books actually stand up as worthy for publication. Same with Sherrilyn Kenyon. Horrendous!
Sophie_cesca wrote: "I loved house of nights first book and 7th book, but Zoey got on my nerves as she constantly reiterated the same things over and over. xx"It's terrible. For me at book 6 I got beyond annoyed with Zoey. I don't like her anymore and I can definitely say that I'm happy that all the other characters get some spotlight time.
I always try to at least finish a book once I've started, but I found 2 in the last year that I just couldn't get through: 1. Unholy Ghosts There are so many things I didn't like about this book, that I really can't list them without my fingers going numb on the keyboard.
2. A Drop of Red I somehow made it through the first 3 books in the series, really wanting to like them, but the 4th book was the final straw for me. I got about half way through and literally deleted it from my nook.
Then this year, I came across another book that I forced myself into finishing: The Merzetti Effect. 600+ pages of hating the characters and story. But I did it, at great cost to my blood pressure ;-)

Loved those Mallory men.
There are few series I could not make it through for what ever reason, but Karen Marie Moning's "Fever Series" was one of these. The first book started off like it would be a series that would be good, and I continued to read the books. By Chapter Two of the Fifth (and what should be, in my opinion, the last book,) I just couldn't get any farther, all the characters grated on me, and Dani "flying" here and there was just driving me insane.
Another series I couldn't stand was the "Vampire Huntress Series" by L.A. Banks. The whole writing style seemed that a rich person was trying to act like they knew what it was like to be poor and scraping to get by. That plus the laughable dialog between the characters just turned me off. I forced myself through the first book, started the second, and a couple of chapters in just gave up.
On the bright side - go Kim Harrison, Karen Chance, Seanan McGuire, and Nicole Peeler. Oh, can't forget Ilona Andrews - all great authors and great series! Wish I could list all the ones I like.

You really didn't like Unholy Ghosts? Actually, the first time I tried reading it, I got about 50 pages in and put it down for nearly 6 months or more. I didn't like it either - it had more to do with her drug use than anything. But, I kept hearing good things about it, so I gave it another go and finished the first book - for some reason, I ended up hooked. Isn't it funny how some people love a book while others just can't stand it? It's a good thing there are so many books out there from which to choose. :)
vampire diaries I don't understand why the series is even continuing. the series was just too boring
It's kind of nice to see someone who's read the Hunger Games and not like them.I'm almost done with The Hunger Games and I'm actaully really enjoying it.
I TRIED reading the Hunger Games... Tried being the operative word... Couldn't get through to even 5ch's... Didn't like it... I think part of the reason is I can't get around the idea of Kids killing kids...
Every time I tell someone I love HG, and then have to tell them what it's about I can feel them judging me. I mean who likes a book where kids kill each other! My latest dislike for books is just a general one - spammers. If you spam you're book at me every time I turn around I will not read it. In fact I will make a point of not reading it.
I don't consider that spamming. Now if they're posting it every where and beating it in with a giant club, that's spamming.
I don't like the Sookie Stackhouse books at all. Maybe it's because I saw a few of the tv shows first, really put me off.
