August - Pick It For Me! Challenge

Actually, I don't see where my partner signed up on this thread...maybe I need glasses. Perhaps she signed up via the yes/no/maybe button without posting on..."
- There were several that answered the invite, I have pmed them, I think Lindsey was one of them.

LOL!!! Too funny!

- I noticed that too and sent her another pm to reminder, hopefully you will get your recs today.

- So sorry BJ Rose, unfortunately Anita pmed me saying she would not be able to get you recs so you are on the re-mix list. Check back tomorrow morning and I will have you a new partner.

Thanks for the great book choices, I know I'll find something there I will like.. what I don't finish for this month I will add to my TBR list! Here goes for you, I hope you find so..."
Thanks for the recs Kim :) I will probably read Along came a Spider as I own that and I may try The Constant Princess

BJ Rose
Kimkirt
LethalLovely
Rossy
Sandy
Annvelwis
Diane (deebotte)
Emily
Angie
- Gigi, still can't give out recs because of a private profile is there anyone else that is still in that situation?
- added to the re-mix will be:
Julie K
Kristi (Passion for the Page)
- Please keep in mind that I am giving everyone till 11pm (to me which is in Central Time Zone)
Please post your recs if you haven't and if I missed you and you want to be part of the re-mix, let me know, I am trying to keep up with all 80 of us.

sorry if my lack of response as been anything but good. Internet problems sadly. So I'm at a local library trying to type this on my iPod. Thus far it has been interesting.
I can't say I have read any of the books on your TBR list. But I have read reviews and descriptions of each and would suggest reading the following:
Saffron Skies by Lesley Lokko - goodreads didn't have much of a description but I ventured else where.
Release by Beth Kery - A bit mature for someone such as myself, but sounds pretty interesting.
The Pillars of Earth by Ken Follett - haven't read this one but a friend told me that it was very insightful.
Sin by Sharon Page - yet another mature book, but interesting that. Haven't read.
And yes, the love for pokemon will be passed along to my young kids when I have them. There is still hope that I am not the only non-child that still plays it.
New Books-
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - One of the few mature books that I have read for my some odd young age. I highly enjoyed the mystery with the supernatural and romance of it all with a tad bit of adventure.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - A short and to the point book that was an inspiration that started my reading binge. It is classified as fiction in some libraries and non-fiction in others, but a great read!
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - Can't be compared to Harry Potter, but it's more modern and just reminds me of it. All the new clues and puzzles with the sudden twists and gasping moments and a few tear jerkers gets anyone excited with this series. :]
Looking for Alaska by John Green - A young adult book but yet another favorite. Non-fiction, short, and wise. It helped me understand life better honestly.

City of Bones!"
ooh Carolyn, good book =) enjoy

I am having so much fun with this - just feel bad knowing that some of you haven't gotten your recs yet =(

sorry if my lack of responce as been anything but good. Internet problems sadly. So I'm at a local library tryig to type this on my iPod. Thus far it has been interesting.

Ughh internet problems, I have had my share of those - so glad you could find a way on. Good luck with the computer.

I am going to have your list up tonight.... As long as I am not in Labor (lol)"
Oooohh a baby!, honey that's wonderful!
Congrats and I wish it all goes well for you both.
You know… now everybody in this group is waiting too so please let us know how you’re doing and how’s the babe… pictures are welcome.
And really Brandy, don’t worry if you can’t have my recs, I understand and, as you can see, someone else can do it. But if you do I’m sure I’ll want to read them all, we have very similar tastes in books.

Sorry I am so late posting this...
I took a look at your list and this is what I came up with.
From your TBR
Tribute by Nora Roberts I loved this.
Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole This series gets better as it goes!
Stray by Rachel Vincent Great new shifter series.
Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts
New to you
Wild Swan by Celeste De Blasis this is a historical romance and is my favorite of all time.
The Tiger's Woman by Celeste De Blasis
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn
Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur this is a great PNR series.
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn this is a new new series and is really good.

Now that I found time to look at your picks, I have to say that I'm very confused. They all look so good! You did a great job picking them for me. Thank you!
Linger is a given, it was already on my mind to read it. As for the others, Poison Study's already got my attention, but I may also choose one of the others as well.
This is so much fun! Can't wait to hear what you'll decide to read.

Thanks Carolyn I put Bitten on hold for me at my library. I hope that you enjoy City of Bones

Here is your list.. :)
TBR
Covetby J.R. Ward I loved this book. Being a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Covet introduces a few of the characaters from BDB. It is a moving book as far as never judge a person by what they do or how they look
Halfway to the Graveby Jeanie Frost- I was recommended this book by a friend and I have to say that I feel in love, not just with the main characters but with the story line and the fight for a love.
Beyond the Highland Mistby Karen Marie Moning This is a first in a long line of books. Each book as something different to offer. This is an interesting book and one I hope you enjoy as much as I did
Splendid by Julia QuinnThis is just a good story
New to You...
The Smoke Thief by Shana Abéthis book was a find for me. I had never read the author but saw this in the book store and thought why not. It is a good story
Nicholas-Elizabeth Amber I have to say that the cover is what brought me to read this. It is an interesting take on the Fey, and mixes a different apporach to finding love as well as finding the right way to have sex with another person
Keegan's Ladyby Catherine Anderson All I have to say is that this a such a moving book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I have truly fallen for this author
Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone

City of Bones by Cassandra Claire is the start of a series I hope you will like
How To marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
I have some many I want to share that I will put my selections here…
I actually have many urban fantasies that are romances as well
The Forever Summer by Suzanne Macpherson – I love this little story and I hope you like your romance with a little mystery
Sunshine by Robin McKinley – this heroine has hidden strengths that I love and she is a baker
A Kiss of Shadows by Laurel Hamilton – fairy princesses and complete suspension of disbelief
Dead until Dark by Charlene Harris – imagine a world where vampires live among us
The Nymph King by Gena Showalter – she creates such gorgeous men in her stories
Dark Lover by J.R.Ward – Thrilling, shocking and unforgettable

Love all yours recs - so much I couldn´t decide which to choose, but I´m going to read Her best friend´s Lover. And maybe The Smoke Thief.
Thanks!

1. Everything will be done in THIS thread. Please make your recommendations HERE.
2. Make sure to check back BEFORE the 2nd of August and make recommendations for your partner. If i do not hear from you in this thread or through a private message by 11pm, i will assume you will not be participating. Therefore i will re-assign your partner to somebody else.
3. Give 8 book choices to your partner. 4 from their TBR and 4 brand new to them author/book. Of course we are only committed to FINISH 1 recommendation; but this will give your partner different options to choose from depending on their reading mood.
Please set your profiles to PUBLIC until the 2nd of August. Just in case i need to get in contact with any of you, or if i need to look at your profile for the pairing.

To my poor babies who are still waiting. I'm so sorry that some members have forgotten the rules. Just feel secure in the fact that Debbie is on it and nobody will be left without recommendations. Please check back by tomorrow morning or later tonight and you will have a new partner.
Thank you to those that have made their recommendations to their partners, already. I'm so glad to see that i didn't have to correct anybody about how many recommendations were needed this month.

Hi Penney,
Thanks for putting up with me."
Thanks for your recommendations Jenny. I'm sorry if you felt rushed, I know this is your first "pick it" challenge and I want it to be fun for you. I've read the Sookie Stackhouse series as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. You picked well because they are both absolute favs of mine and I eagerly anticipate the new installments of both, even if it's about nine months from now! I've decided to go with The Nymph King, it sounds great and it goes perfectly with another challenge I'm doing.
Thanks again and I hope you find something interesting in the pile I picked for you :)

- I am in the processes of compiling a list of those that have not received any recommendation (but want them) for the re-mix - but it won't be up for a about an hour =)

I recommend from your tbr list "Passion" by Lisa Valdez."
If you could give your partner more options that would be great. 8 recommendations: 4 from the TBR and 4 new to your partner.

- At the moment I have an even number, I will let you know if that changes though. Thanks.

Love all yours recs - so much I couldn´t decide which to choose, but I´m going to read Her best friend´s Lover. And maybe The Smoke Thief.
Thanks!"
Regina, Her Best Friend's Lover is really good- I think you will really like it!

Thanks for being patience in getting your recs, let's try this match up and see if we can get them.
41. Annvelwis (7) paired with Kristi (Passion for the Page) (1)
17. BJ Rose (6) paired with 3. Angie (3)
4. Gigi (6) paired with 16. LethalLovely (4)
19. Diane (deebotte) (5) paired with Julie K (4)
9. KimKirt (5) paired with 63. Rossy (4)
40. Emily (4) paired with 12. Sandy (4)
If I have missed anyone that is still interested, we did have several volunteers to do multiple recs for us.
- Thanks again and Happy Reading everyone =)

On side note, I'm a little upset right now. It just sucks that I went through all of the effort to look through my previous partner's shelves to find books for her & she turned out to be a no show. I realize circumstances & life may have prevented her from giving me my rec's on time or at all, but it still sucks. Rant over.

Nice to be re-paired with you. :)
Some suggestions after checking out your bookshelves. I hope something sounds good.
TBR
1. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin - YA mystery that I love. The characters are great and Turtle is a hoot.
2. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan - YA adventure with Greek gods mixed in. Lots of fun.
3. Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - I love this series, especially the werewolf books. And you need some werewolves on your shelves to keep the vampires in line.
4. Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Crusie - one of my favorites by her. Light books with lots of humor and the scene with the dinner/fork at the end is priceless.

New to You
5. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs or Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison - you said you love Anita Blake, these two series are similar to early Anita.
6. My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent - a YA series you haven't read. Interesting take on banshees and a really pretty cover.
7. Truly, Madly by Heather Webber - you had a couple mystery series and thought you might like this one.
8. Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts - starts my favorite paranormal trilogy by her.

- Thanks for continuing to be part of this challenge.

Nice to be re-paired with you. :)

- Wow Diane, you are on top of things tonight. lol
have to say I loved Truly, Madly.

Thanks, I just happened to check in a few minutes after you re-assigned, so I figured why not get it done. :)
Yeah, I really enjoyed Truly, Madly and am looking forward to the sequel.

Also, I know my TBR is massive so, feel free to stick with my Ebay purchases shelf. Hopefully, that will make it a little easier.

TBR list
1. Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I really loved this book. It made me laugh out loud and I loved the two romances involved. :^)
2. Salem's Lot by Stephen King. Old school King's my FAVORITE. Vampires at their horrific best and likeable main characters make this a fun read.
3. Soulless by Gail Carriger. I was hooked from the first paragraph. Alexia's an incredibly fun character and the style was nicely done.
4. Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead. Now, I've kind of soured on the series in the last few books, but the second one was solid and very much enjoyable.
New to you (or at least not on your shelves)
1. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. An epistolary book that surprised me with how thoroughly it pulled me in and held me to the last page.
2. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. A book I picked up on a whim and found myself absolutely LOVING. It IS a young adult, but that's just more to inform than to warn off, because it's done in a way that you'll find yourself so enthralled, it won't matter. HIGHLY recommended!
3. Cold Sight by Leslie Parrish. I'm currently reading this and am finding it VERY enjoyable. It's the start of a new series (the next is due out next year, I believe). It's paranormal investigative/romantic suspense.
4. Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Stephen King's son shows himself to be on the road to making quite the name for himself. This is his debut.

Hi Lethal!
I enjoyed looking through your booklist. Unfortunately, I've only read a handful of the books on your shelves. So, hopefully I've picked something that you'll enjoy. If my recs are way off base, I'll be more than happy to do some more digging.
TBR
Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl
I haven't read this yet, but I've heard really good things about it from more than one person.
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
If you're in the mood for PNR, try this one. Again, I've heard great things about this book.
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley or Sinful by Charlotte Featherstone
If you're looking for historicals that are a little different try one of these. I've read The Madness and I really loved it! I'm dying to read Sinful and that has nothing to do with the cover I promise lol. A GR friend told me that Sinful is a little different as historicals go.
A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux.
I couldn't tell if you've read this or not. However, if you haven't, I strongly suggest you give this book a shot one day. This time travel love story was recommended to me and I loved it. This book is one of my favs. The book was also funny. I couldn't tear myself away from it.
Honorable Mention:
Kindred by Octavia Butler
If you're looking for something a little more serious. Again, I haven't read her yet. However, I know that she's an amazing author. This should be really good!
New
The Other Woman by Eric Jerome Dickey
I didn't see this one on your list. The Other Woman and Friends and Lovers are my 2 favorite Dickey books. The ending of The Other Woman literally had me sitting on my bed with my mouth open and then I had to call a girlfriend and tell her about the book. Thank goodness I started this book on a Friday because I pulled an all-nighter determined to find out...well...nevermind, but the book is good.
Years by Lavyrle Spencer
Well, truth be told, I needed a "Y" book for a challenge lol. So, a GR friend told me that she enjoyed this book and that she really enjoys Lavyrles books. So, now when that GR friend talks, I listen! She was right on both counts. I'm a Lavyrle fan now. The book for me wasn't without its flaws (as some HR's are), but I really enjoyed Lavyrles storytelling. Really sweet love story!
Cry No More or Duncan's Bride by Linda Howard
I didn't see any Linda Howard or maybe I missed it because I'm amazed that I'm functioning now. LOL Anyway, Linda Howard is a fav of mine. So, I'm recommending 2 of my favorites. If you're in the mood for a heart-wrenching suspense novel, Cry No More is your pick. A lot of people told me how good the book was and they were right. Definitely worth a read at some point. Now, if you're in the mood for a heartwarming love story, read Duncan's Bride. Its very rare and I mean very rare that a heroine doesn't get on my nerves. Maddie in Duncan's Bride was a very strong character and I loved her. She is definitely one of my favorite heroines.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean
This book is on my TBR. I've seen so much positive feedback about this book and as a result I'm dying to read it.
I think I went over 8. Sorry about that.
Happy reading!
